Unnatural Disaster News

Over the last few minor updates, we've been quietly improving the game balance, readability, and stability of Unnatural Disaster.

Recent improvements include:

• Support for Linux and Steam Deck
• Redesigned 03-12 Chicago to give players more flexibility in their approach
  
• Added more feedback to 01-08 Westerlily
  
• Improved menu navigability for gamepad users
  
• Continued work on localization, added language-select menu
  
• Various bugfixes and performance improvements
  
• Minor graphical enhancements
  

This regular update makes the following additional changes:


To improve the readability of our fire-producing landmark, we've swapped out the electrical transformer for a new district heater that more obviously communicates "contained fire, break to release!"

District heaters replace transformers in all Story Mode levels. Transformers are still available in Sandbox Mode, but now produce electrical discharge when destroyed (like plasma balls) instead of fire.


Other landmarks also have improved readability. The new Fuel Silo looks more explosive than ever!


Finally, we've made substantial improvements to the fluid simulation to make big disasters like tsunamis and floods hit harder and feel better! The simulation is also more consistent and performant across a wide range of devices.

Unnatural Disaster now ships with a native Linux build and full Steam Deck support!

[h2]How to Launch the Native Version[/h2]

• Update Unnatural Disaster to the latest version
  
• Select Unnatural Disaster > View game details > Gear icon > Properties > Compatibility
  
• Ensure "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" is unchecked
  
• Press Play. Steam will launch the native build automatically

We're thrilled to announce that Unnatural Disaster now supports 15 languages! Whether you're causing chaos in English, Deutsch, Français, Italiano, Español, Português, Polski, Bahasa Indonesia, Türkçe, Русский, 简体中文, 日本語, 한국어, हिन्दी, or ภาษาไทย, control over natural disasters is at the tips of your fingers instead of the tip of your tongue.

A tremendous amount of work went into making this possible, but there's always a chance we missed something. If you have any feedback about the translations or notice something's not quite right, please bring it to our attention via the in-game feedback buttons or on our Steam discussion board.



Hurricane and Kaiju have received much-needed buffs, raising their threat level to be more on par with the other setpiece disasters.



No update is complete without the requisite bugfixes and miscellaneous improvements.



Looking ahead, we’re planning a Linux release to provide full native Steam Deck support, as well as the addition of Steam Achievements. These are some of our last steps before finalizing the 1.0 release!

That’s right, Unnatural Disaster is now available on macOS! You can finally take a bite out of the Big Apple... on an Apple.

We’ve made significant changes to the objectives on several levels to improve game balance and enhance your gameplay experience. Dive in and see if you can conquer the new challenges!




Vegas just got a whole lot more personality! The new Sphere landmark mugs for the camera and reacts to your disasters. And of course, it's unlockable in Sandbox Mode!




Everyone says they fix bugs and improve performance, but we really mean it! We put a lot of effort into optimizing the worst best case scenarios - like an entire map of explosives going off at once - so try to ensure the only limit in Sandbox Mode is your imagination.
