Cataclismo’s Kickstarter is over! What are we adding to the game?

Cataclismo’s campaign on Kickstarter has officially ended! The overwhelming support of 1400 backers (!) has allowed us to raise over 64k euros. Thanks a million for your support!

This will translate into us adding many new features. Here’s a quick summary:
  • Photo Mode. Capture the essence of Hogar and immortalize your fortresses in a myriad of ways. We experimented a bit with an extremely early version of what eventually will become the Photo Mode, and here are the results.
  • A blueprint creation tool to save your creations and auto-build them like this:
  • A new set of tactical pieces that will help boost your troops' attacking power.


  • Cheat codes. We’ll let you use cheat codes to become invincible, kill everything with one hit, or have infinite resources. These examples won’t unlock achievements but will definitely provide some fun. Leave your ideas for more cheat codes in the comments!


  • Survival Mode. Face infinite waves of horrors and get the highest scores in the most challenging mode of the entire game.


Although we weren’t able to unlock the Level Editor, we’re aware it's a highly requested feature, and we’ve decided to add it to the game anyway. Our community deserves the best game possible and we’ll do our best to deliver.

It’s hard to tell if it'll be available for release just yet, but they’ll definitely be added at some point. Whatever content is left out from the release version will be added as a free update at some point.

After my sloppy stonework left archers without a clear line of sight to their foe and bomb lobbers stranded on outcroppings as the stairs collapsed behind them, it's frankly a miracle my settlement survived the night. Based on your feedback after playing the demo, Cataclismo is already “quite good”. But “quite good” isn’t excellent, and that’s what we always aim for. In order to reach the same level of quality as Moonlighter and The Mageseeker, we need your support.



Help us polish the already 30-hour campaign, create more hand-crafted skirmish levels, and expand the creative mode even further. Keep it secret, but a Mario Maker-like level creator with online functionalities might (👀) be one of the stretch goals.

Back us on Kickstarter, and you’ll get the chance to access limited, backers-only discounts and rewards, not least this nearly 200-page hardcover artbook or this premium figure of Iris and Hermes.

Cataclismo: Strategy Fest

New demo available NOW! - Steam Strategy Fest

Cataclismo will participate at the upcoming Steam Strategy Fest (Aug 28 - Sept 4) featuring an updated demo!

But Horrors won't wait until Monday to destroy your walls, so the new demo is available RIGHT NOW.



Here’s a quick summary of what changed:

  • A brand new level for our seasoned players. It is meant to be a tougher challenge than anything you could find in the previous demo, and it allows you to explore a bigger, less restricted zone without tutorials nor tips to guide you through. This level lasts around 60 minutes depending on your skills.

  • Difficulty modes. Choose between three difficulty modes: Easy, Medium, and Hard. Each one changes the number of Horrors attacking you, how much health they and your units have, and the speed of resource gathering. We want all players to find their sweet spot and adapt the experience to whichever difficulty they feel comfortable with.

  • Skipping tutorials is now a thing. Many of you complained of Cataclismo being a tad too handholdy at times, and we listened. This new demo allows you to fully ignore tutorials or watch only the Cataclismo-specific ones – skipping those common to all RTS games.

  • Better visuals, UX, and performance. The overall experience is smoother thanks to improved graphics, UX, and performance. Cataclismo plays, looks, and runs better than ever before!
