Age of Darkness: Final Stand - Update v0.3.0

Dear Protectors of the Light,

We’re happy to bring you our latest Content Update!

This is our last Update before the holiday period and we wanted to make sure we were able to release some tasty treats for you. With our V0.3.0 Update you can look forward to a New Nightmare, a New Building, New Malices and Blessings along with a host of Quality of Life improvements.

We’ve got work scheduled out for the next year looking to deliver on a host of new Patches, Content Updates and eventually Campaign and Multiplayer.

While we’ll be on break until early next year, we will have a team of people on standby and checking in periodically. So as always please continue to report bugs to our Steam forums or in the bug reporting channel on our Discord, as we’re constantly monitoring those channels.

[h3]Improvements[/h3]
  • Added in a brand new Nightmare, The Burster.
  • Added in a new Building, the Treasury.
  • Added in the new Catalysing Injuries Malice, an area of effect malice that can damage your units and surrounding buildings when the Nightmares destroy your defenses.
  • Added in the new Rigged Defenses Blessing, an area of effect blessing that can damage enemy Nightmares as they destroy your defenses.
  • Added new iconography to the Mini-Map. Players will now be able to see their Hero location, Points of Interest, Elite Enemies and discovered Crystals at all times.
  • Increased the range and damage-per-second of Grand Bellow Towers.
  • Treasuries, Trade Bazaars and Storehouses will now correctly display what they are buffing above the surrounding buildings.
  • All negative values in-game (costs, negative gold, villager count etc) now display in Red to indicate it is a negative value clearer.


[h3]Crashes[/h3]
  • Fixed an issue where the game could crash on placement of the Fishing Lodge.
  • Fixed an issue where the game would crash if pressing F10 when loading into the game.


[h3]Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed an issue Dark Essence would display the Food Icon in the Resource Grid.
  • Fixed an issue where the Daybreak Blessing wouldn’t work under some conditions.
  • Fixed an issue with the Trade Bazaar not displaying the correct sell amounts for resources.
  • Fixed an issue where the Rally Point flag wouldn’t show when the game was paused.
  • Fixed an issue where certain Skill Tree items would not correctly display the percentage chance.
  • Fixed an issue where attack speed could be displayed in the negative when using Queen’s Rage and certain Skill Tree Skills.
  • Fixed an issue with the Booster Skill not working correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where the Mini-Map could display undiscovered Points of Interest there as you load into the game.
  • Fixed an issue with the Heroless Hardship appearing on the End of Game Screen regardless of if it is active or not.
  • Fixed an issue with the Nightmare Difficulty not displaying in red on the Save Game Screen.
  • Fixed an issue with the player being able to Tab between Crystals after discovering one.
  • Fixed an issue with Edwin’s health being displayed incorrectly.
  • Various Localisation fixes for the Fishing Port, Trade Bazaar and Treasury.
  • Various UI bug fixes.


[h3]Known Issues[/h3]
  • We’re aware of an issue where in some cases the player can increase the Death Night Counter on the Final Night to 4 Billion Enemies when placing houses in areas illuminated by new Fire Sconces during Final Stand. This has only been found to occur on Development builds.


Where possible please ensure all drivers are updated to ensure the best and smoothest performance.

The Treasury


Dear Protectors of the light,

Today we’re talking about the most interesting of subjects: financing a growing empire! How does one gain a large amount of gold in a short amount of time? With a loan from your local Treasury of course!
Let’s take a look at how you can use bureaucracy to increase your revenue and start raking in that sweet, sweet gold…

[h2]Passive Income[/h2]
As most financial advisors, bankers, and thieves know, the best way to make money is to just take it from others (not legal advice), so if you place the Treasury in a well populated housing district, each of the surrounding houses will give you more income than usual. The Treasury provides a valuable service to your settlement by keeping its citizens gold (mostly) safe, and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise!



[h2]Risky Investments[/h2]
Another important part of being a financial powerhouse is the giving and repaying of loans. With the Treasury, you are now able to take out loans of all sizes, starting with a small loan of 500 Gold. This must be repaid in full (plus 10% interest of course) within a set time or you risk defaulting, which will reduce the income of houses surrounding the Treasury until you manage to pull together the funds to repay. So make sure you weigh the risks before taking the reward!

And that ladies and gents, is our final blog for this update! Of course, there’s more to come, like quality of life changes to the mini-map, and a new blessing and malice, but you’ll have to read about those in the patch notes once the update is released tomorrow. See you then!

Meet the Bursters

Dear Protectors of the Light,

That time has come again where we present that most coveted of gifts to our community, News! This time around we’re pleased to announce that in our next update, coming next week, we’ll be adding a brand-new Nightmare to unleash havoc on your settlements and unceremoniously wreck your s**t.
Read on to find out more about the horrid Bursters…



[h2]Pack Mentality[/h2]

Found roaming in packs all across the map, the Bursters may not initially seem all that nasty. They’re small and relatively slow during the day, but at night they become significantly faster and more aggressive, making them one of the deadliest Nightmares out there.

Oh, and did we mention they explode? When they have a target, the Bursters will pursue it relentlessly until they get close enough at which point their abdomen will glow a lovely green colour and then… BOOM! This explosion will deal massive damage to both units and buildings alike. if only there was a way of preventing this deadly assault…

[h2]Burn Baby Burn[/h2]

The Bursters are particularly weak to any and all types of fire. The cleansing flames will significantly slow down these volatile vermin, meaning they’ll be less likely to reach (and subsequently blow through) your defences. In addition to slowing them down, if a Burster dies while ignited from a fire based attack, they will immediately explode in a great ball of fire, harming any Nightmares unlucky enough to be in the blast radius…

Age of Darkness: Final Stand - Patch v0.2.2



Dear Protectors of the Light,

We’re hard at work preparing for our last major Content Update before the Holiday break, so with v0.3.0 coming very soon, but we wanted to address as many Bug Fixes and Quality of Life concerns as possible in this Patch Build.

There have been many bug fixes surrounding both Edwin and Aelis’ Abilities, including Aelis’ Loyal Guards stats increasing when she levels up and Edwin turning invisible when Crackfire is used.

We have added in various UI changes and improvements throughout for extra visual feedback and readability. With one notable improvement is adding in the Icon of your Hero on your Save File. This will appear for all Save Files from this Update onwards, however this does mean that your previous Saves with Aelis will have Edwins Icon.

For now, continue to fight off the Darkness and keep your eyes peeled for more information regarding our next Content Update!

  • Hero Icons now appear on players' Saved Files and End of Round Screens.
  • Improved visual feedback on Aelis’ Queens Range Ability AOE.
  • Added PFX to Aelis for when she steals Health using her Queen’s Range Ability.
  • Updated visuals for Edwin’s Crackfire Ability.
  • Edwin’s Crackfire Ability range increases with each Level.
  • Anchoring changes to the Fishing Port so it can’t be built too far inland.
  • New Progress Bar on Fishing Ports to indicate Fishing Progress.
  • Improved Visual Feedback on the Resources Progress bar to indicate when a Resource Building can’t accrue more due to Max Resources being reached.
  • Fish Icon on the Fishing Port Progress bar now indicates when no Nets are being Spawned.
  • Added Audio Effects for when a player collects a Fishing Net.
  • AOE Ring added to the Storehouse.
  • Updated Localisation for Simplified Chinese.
  • Updated Farm Visuals to include Tomato Crops for all the Tomato Farmers out there.
  • Added extra visuals to the Farms so every Tile within the Farms Radius has Crops.

[h3]Crashes[/h3]
  • Fixed an issue where the game would crash when loading Save Files that had a Fishing Lodge that spawns 0 nets.

[h3]Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed an issue where Aelis’ Loyal Guards would not have their stats increased when Aelis levels up.
  • Fixed an issue where Aelis’ spawned Loyal Guards would not Level Up to match newly spawned Guards with a Higher Level.
  • Fixed an issue where Aelis’ Queens Rage Ability can be cast outside of her castable range.
  • Fixed an issue for missing Text Strings on the Loyal Guards Ability UI when Aelis has her maximum amount of Guards spawned.
  • Fixed an issue where Edwin’s Enflame Ability burning effect only lasts for one Tick.
  • Fixed an issue where Edwin’s Enflame Ability wouldn’t do damage to enemies spawned on the Map.
  • Fixed an issue where using Edwin’s Crackfire Ability would turn him invisible. Finally!
  • Fixed an issue where the Exclamation Mark UI would appear above Fishing Lodges with no Nets to collect.
  • Fixed an issue where the Exclamation Mark UI would appear on the wrong Fishing Lodge.
  • Fixed an issue where the AOD Logo on the Main Menu would change when a player is in the Languages Menu but has not changed their language.
  • Fixed an issue where enemy Units spawn inside of Trees and Cliffs after a Death Night.
  • Fixed an issue where the Eject button on Towers was not bound to any key.
  • Fixed an issue where the Storehouse would only apply the Buff to one Quarry on the Map.
  • Fixed an issue where the Budget Carpenter Blessing didn’t decrease the amount of Resources needed to Upgrade.
  • Fixed an error for Loss of Focus Bugs.
  • Various Localisation fixes for Aelis.
  • Various UI bug fixes.


[h3]Known Issues[/h3]
  • The Nightmare difficulty mode Icon will appear as white when loading from a save file.
  • The end of game screen will incorrectly display the Heroless Hardship after a match with no Hardship active.
  • Visual issue with the Buildings where they are being constructed from the top down rather than the ground up.
  • Units showing incorrect buff values when Aelis’ Queens Rage Ability is applied to them.


Where possible please ensure all drivers are updated to ensure the best and smoothest performance.
