Age of Darkness: Final Stand - Hotfix Update v0.2.1



Dear Protectors of the Light,

Thank you for all your feedback, messages and reviews regarding our amazing new Hero, Aelis.

As Aelis was a major focus for the v0.2.0 Content Update, we wanted to immediately address a crash related to Aelis when using Eradicate. We have also included a bug fix for the Buy and Sell rate from the Trade Bazaar being 1:1.

This Hotfix was our main priority however we will have a Patch Build going out next week with more bug fixes and quality of life changes!

As always please continue to report bugs to our Steam forums or in the bug reporting channel on our Discord, as we’re constantly monitoring those channels.

Age of Darkness: Final Stand - Content Update v0.2.0

Dear Protectors of the Light,

The time has finally come, Aelis, The Queen of Nothing has revealed herself and she’s ready to fight back the Darkness. We’ve got our first major Content Update now available for you to play! This is the largest update for Age of Darkness to date, and includes several brand new features, a whole host of Quality of Life improvements and plenty of new bug fixes for you to enjoy!

Please be aware that some current save files may not work as intended on the new version, so we recommend that you start a new save file with v0.2.0.

  • Fixed an issue where Player cannot highlight more than 32 farms.
  • Fixed an issue where the Player is able to Pause the game on Nightmare when playing on Custom Difficulty.
  • Fixed an issue where the Economy Drought Malice is not disappearing after the Death Night.
  • Fixed an issue where the Vision remained after a Unit had died.
  • Fixed an issue where the Player is able to Build too close to the Fissure.
  • Fixed an issue where the player’s HUD would disappear when loading a save from before v0.2.0
  • Fixed an issue where the HP UI would display as “Base HP (+ Level Up HP)” rather than one number.
  • Various UI & Localisation fixes.
  • Various bug fixes related to the Fishing Port and Trade Bazaar.
  • Various bug fixes for Aelis and her Loyal Guards.


[h3]Known Issues[/h3]

Below you’ll find some issues that we’re aware of, and are working on fixes for. We’re hoping to have a hotfix for these by next week so sit tight!

  • In some cases there players may experience a crash when using Aelis’ Eradicate ability at Level 10.
  • Occasionally the Fishing Lodge will display a “!” above buildings despite there not being any Fishing Nets to collect.
  • The Fishing Port can be built too far inland.
  • The Budget Carpenter Blessing will require you to have more resources than you need before you’re able to build Building Upgrades.
  • Some Localisation is missing and will be added in future patches.

Quality of Life & Farm Visuals

Dear Protectors of the light,

This is it, our final blog detailing the features and major improvements coming with The Queen’s Fury update. In today’s edition, we’re talking quality of life and implementing some of your most requested improvements!

So without further ado, let’s talk selection and construction:

[h2]Quality of Life[/h2]
We’ve made a number of quality of Life improvements to help keep the darkness at bay:

  • As a request often made by our community, you now have the ability to deselect units using ctrl + shift and clicking or using the selection box, this will aid in the ability to remove units from a select group if, for example, they have been selected by mistake.

  • Building selection and construction has been a large focus for quality of Life changes.
    You can now use Alt + Double Click to select buildings of the same type but different tiers, for example players can select the Dwelling and a House at the same time.

  • The changes to how buildings can be selected will go hand in hand with you being able to upgrade multiple buildings at once, even if non upgradable buildings are in the selection, or if you have selected more buildings than you can afford to upgrade. This will help make sure that upgrades are as painless as possible.

  • You can now also move between buildings of the same type in the Action Menu. There is now a left/right icon on a building, which will allow you to scroll between every building of that type on the map.

  • With Farms being one of the most essential buildings, we’ve ensured that if you have 32 or more farms, they will all be Highlighted when Selecting All.

  • The Individual Resource Tick rates have had a UI update to help visualise the amount of resources coming in. As you build Farms & Quarries, in the Economy Window in the bottom right there will be a bar displayed underneath the max resource count showing when the next resource is coming in, rather than needing to hover over the building itself. This should help during those moments where you need to wait for a specific resource so the Nightmares don’t chew your face off.

  • For those who seek an extra challenge, You can now disable the pause menu when the game loses focus in the Gameplay Settings.


[h2]Farm Visual improvements[/h2]


To make everything seem just that little bit prettier, Food Gathering buildings will spawn crop fields surrounding the building showing that this is where your food grows. These changes should help you to see the status of food production at a glance.

As the Food Gathering buildings produce more food depending on the amount of tiles they are placed on, when you then build within the Food Gatherer’s radius, you will see your crops gradually wither and change colour. This will let you know that your Gatherers are not producing optimal food gain due to buildings within the food radius.

The crops themselves will appear visually different as well depending on the overall status of the Building Placement. Bountiful, Good, and Poor will all be represented differently. Using the Farm as an example, you should notice that the more food you are producing, the wheat crops surrounding the Farm will grow more plentiful and have a much brighter colour compared to a Farm that has a Poor food production.

These crops are purely visual and should have no impact on units and enemies wandering through them.

[h2]The Queen’s Fury[/h2]
And that’s your lot for this update! There will of course be the usual cohort of fixes and improvements, but we wanted to make sure you know about all the big ticket items ahead of time. You can look forward to trying out our new hero, Aelis, as well as the new buildings when we drop the update on Wednesday!
