We've received a lot of feedback from our players since our early access launch. We'd like to thank everyone for your support!

Our game is still in Early Access, and the experience is still incomplete in many aspects. Thank you for your tolerance and understanding! There are many issues that have been collected, but are still on in our fix schedule. We will continue to work hard to improve the game, thank you again!

[Version 0.3.4]
Bug fix:
 • Game crash caused by statistics component
 • Culture set value error
 • The game will stall when you use the magic [Guardian of the Gods]
 • When there is no one working in the building, assigne the workers by magic, and the working state of the building cannot be changed
 • When Using Magic to grab villagers into a building, the building will not work

Best,
Dev Team

Early Access Launch!

When will the game be released? How much is it selling for?
 • July 15th 12:00 A.M. PDT
 • Original price $19.99, with 15% discount for the first week
Introduce yourself.
We are Start Chess Studio from Chengdu, China. The Immortal Mayor is our first game, and it's the first time for our team to make a simulation game too.

Why did you choose to make such a game?
It seems that there has never been a 3D simulation game taking ancient China as its background on PC, and our team are all fans of this type of game, so we choose to make such a game on our own!

So what exactly is the game about?
 • The overall gameplay framework is similar to some hardcore survival simulation games, such as Banished (our game will be easier to master if you've ever played similar games before), which requires layout and population control, as well as the use of magic powers to develop towns without unruly inhabitants
 • Please do not be fooled by our game's art style! It's a hardcore game indeed, and the tutorial is still in progress.
I heard you had a lot of bugs and crashes in the demo? How about this Early Access version?
 • In the early days of our playtest and demo testing, we were in a hurry. We subsequently sought the help of external QA testers, and spent a lot of energy on fixing bugs and crashes.
 • For now, we can guarantee that there will not be so many crashes like the ones we had in previous demos; We have fixed more than 100 bugs in the past month, but If you encounter any more bugs, please contact us throughn questionnaire on the store page and our discord channe, and we will fix them in time.
 • Compared with the previous demo, the performance is significantly improved, but there is still room for more improvement. At present, the same level of GTX 1060 graphics card can reach 60 frames at the beginning of this game with middle VFX level. However, it's a common problem for simulation games to have lower FPS at the end of the game, and we're still looking for ways to improve it.
 • Performance optimization is a long term project. There are some known optimizations (tree models and houses) that need more time for us to process (producers expect a 20 FPS improvement) and will be implemented gradually in the upcoming updates.
Why Early Access? What are the upcoming updates to the game?
 • As stated in the previous announcement, the first reason is that we do not want to build our products behind closed doors. The ability of a single team is always limited. We really need the criticism and suggestions from real buyers to help us polish our products better. Second, we really need to withdraw some funds to support our future development
 • As for the roadmap of Eealy Access, our major plan for the last six months is as follows. In addition to the update of game content, we also plan to add the support of Steam Workshop:
 • Of course, the content on the roadmap is not all we could update for you. We will continue to add new content and optimization between major version updates, gradually enrich the content of the game.
Is there any multiplayer mode for this game?
No, there's no such plan.

Does the game support creative workshops?
Not for now, but will do in the future.

What languages does the game support?
As you can see, only Simplified Chinese and English are currently supported. Sorry to those who use Traditional Chinese, we thought it would be easier to add Tranditional Chinese, but the font we are using has very poor support for Traditional Chinese, so we are not able to fully support it for now, but we will update it soon after we launch.

The Immortal Mayor Demo is closed! See you in July!

Dear mayors,

The Steam Next Fest is now over, and The Immortal Mayor Demo will be closed on June 23rd 9:00 . Thank you again for your support!

Since the demo did have a number of stability and optimization issues, the team was busy collecting and fixing issues during Steam Next Fest, with four updates in a row. Now we finally have time to share some data with you and the general plan for our future
Some numbers about the demo
• According to Steam background data, over 60,000 players all around the world participated in the demo (much much higher than we expected).
 • Most of them are from China, which takes more than 60%; The top 2 and top3 are Western Europe and North America
 • Nearly 7000 players played for more than 3 hours. Thank you very much!
Who are we? How did we come up with the idea of this game?
• We are an independent game studio from Chengdu, Sichuan, China.
 • This is the first time we make a game on our own, and certainly the first time we develop a simulation game.
 • There seems to have been no simulation game mixed 3D and ancient China elements on PC, and our team is all lovers of this type of game, so we set up a project in this direction
What is the purpose of this demo?
• We wanted to make games that the team liked to play, but we knew we weren't a very talented team. We believe that making an indie game should not be a work-behind-closed-doors [/ B]. Instead, it should be tested by real players as early as possible. after ensuring that the gameplay framework is complete and there are enough content to play. Through the demo, we were able to adjust the direction of the development based on player feedback, which is also why we are going to release the game in Early Access.
 • Like most independent games team, our team have no full-time testers, external QA can provide test support but they cannot completely cover the nonlinear process of the game. Besides, PC hardware compatibility is not unified, so we also try to find out the malignant bugs as soon as possible,
Our Future Plan
• Fix bugs and optimize performance as best we can
 • Proofread and optimize English language versions
 • Implement some functions that have been developed but have not yet been launched in the DEMO, and adjust the game numbers and pace to the official version
 • The development of some new features
 • Sort suggestions from players, and included those with higher priority into the subsequent development plan (this may be written in a separate article to synchronize with everyone), and adjusted according to the actual development progress

Thanks again for your support, and we will update the progress of the game on Steam and our official social account in the future. See you in July!

Combine city builder and god game to get The Immortal Mayor

Chinese indie studio Star Chess is working on a city builder with a particularly Chinese twist, taking the land god of Taoism to the video-game-logical conclusion: In The Immortal Mayor you're the local land deity, and with more worshippers comes more prestige, therefore it's up to you to ensure the prosperity of the locals. To do so, you direct the expansion of their town, including building protection from attacks by wild monsters, and use your godlike powers and divine inspiration to direct the town around...
