Introduce yourself.
We are Start Chess Studio from Chengdu, China. The Immortal Mayor is our first game, and it's the first time for our team to make a simulation game too.
Why did you choose to make such a game?
It seems that there has never been a 3D simulation game taking ancient China as its background on PC, and our team are all fans of this type of game, so we choose to make such a game on our own!
So what exactly is the game about?
- The overall gameplay framework is similar to some hardcore survival simulation games, such as Banished (our game will be easier to master if you've ever played similar games before), which requires layout and population control, as well as the use of magic powers to develop towns without unruly inhabitants
- Please do not be fooled by our game's art style! It's a hardcore game indeed, and the tutorial is still in progress.
I heard you had a lot of bugs and crashes in the demo? How about this Early Access version?
- In the early days of our playtest and demo testing, we were in a hurry. We subsequently sought the help of external QA testers, and spent a lot of energy on fixing bugs and crashes.
- For now, we can guarantee that there will not be so many crashes like the ones we had in previous demos; We have fixed more than 100 bugs in the past month, but If you encounter any more bugs, please contact us throughn questionnaire on the store page and our discord channe, and we will fix them in time.
- Compared with the previous demo, the performance is significantly improved, but there is still room for more improvement. At present, the same level of GTX 1060 graphics card can reach 60 frames at the beginning of this game with middle VFX level. However, it's a common problem for simulation games to have lower FPS at the end of the game, and we're still looking for ways to improve it.
- Performance optimization is a long term project. There are some known optimizations (tree models and houses) that need more time for us to process (producers expect a 20 FPS improvement) and will be implemented gradually in the upcoming updates.
Why Early Access? What are the upcoming updates to the game?
- As stated in the previous announcement, the first reason is that we do not want to build our products behind closed doors. The ability of a single team is always limited. We really need the criticism and suggestions from real buyers to help us polish our products better. Second, we really need to withdraw some funds to support our future development
- As for the roadmap of Eealy Access, our major plan for the last six months is as follows. In addition to the update of game content, we also plan to add the support of Steam Workshop:
- Of course, the content on the roadmap is not all we could update for you. We will continue to add new content and optimization between major version updates, gradually enrich the content of the game.
Is there any multiplayer mode for this game?
No, there's no such plan.
Does the game support creative workshops?
Not for now, but will do in the future.
What languages does the game support?
As you can see, only Simplified Chinese and English are currently supported. Sorry to those who use Traditional Chinese, we thought it would be easier to add Tranditional Chinese, but the font we are using has very poor support for Traditional Chinese, so we are not able to fully support it for now, but we will update it soon after we launch.
