Killing Floor 3 News

Killing Floor 3’s next stress test launches today, and won’t share the last one’s five-year NDA

What happens when an unenforceable force meets an un-shut-uppable object? Cooperative monsterman shooter Killing Floor 3 found out this past Sunday, as players of its closed online stress test were asked to agree to a nondisclosure agreement (shared on Reddit) that would stay in effect for five years. Or four years, three hundred and fifty-four days after KF3 is supposed to launch, on July 24th.

Naturally, this was broken almost immediately, including by Twitch streamers clicking through the agreement live on air. In a forum post, developers Tripwire Interactive have since declared that they stopped bothering to enforce within the test’s first hour, and apologised for making such a mad demand in the first place. The post also confirms that another stress test – which PC players can still apply to join – is happening later today, Wednesday 16th, and won’t insist on any legal gagging at all.

Killing Floor 3 Wednesday Stress Test Details

[p][/p][p]With the data we have gathered from this past Sunday’s test, the team is now ready to bring in more platforms to the stress test environment. Playstation 5 and Xbox Series users who had signed up for the previous closed beta and received a key will be granted access to the Stress Test for this Wednesday. Unfortunately due to logistical reasons, we are not able to add new console testers at this time[/p][p]

Stress Test Details:
Day: Wednesday, July 16th

Times: 9 AM to 9 PM EDT (-4 UTC)

Participants:
• [p]Steam: Those who had previously requested access to the Stress Test as well as new applicants. Visit the KF 3 steam page to request access[/p]
 • [p]Playstation 5 and Xbox Series: Those who had previously signed up and been granted a key to the previous Closed Beta test in February[/p]

[/p]

Regarding Stress Test NDA
[p]
[/p]
While we're unable to update the build to remove the message, we've made the decision to not enforce the NDA for this next playtest session. So please stream and share to your heart’s content!
[p]
[/p][p]We sincerely apologize for confusion around our NDA. 5 years is our standard boilerplate language for internal tests and was too heavy handed for this context. It was never our intention to enforce a 5-year ban on discussing the game. [/p][p]
[/p][p]It didn’t take long after the build went live to realize that this was the wrong approach, and within the first hour of the stress test we pivoted away from enforcing the NDA. [/p][p]
[/p]
Special Notes:
[p]This is the same build that was used for this past Sunday’s playtest. The team is continuing to work on backend issues that were noticed (such as auth errors that some players experienced) as well as investigate other reports.[/p][p][/p][p]We are continuing to action player feedback that did not fit into our current launch window which includes:[/p]
 • [p]Nightfall Specialists (characters) being able to pick any Perk[/p]
 • [p]Enhanced and Refined Third Person Animations for character movement and weapon handling[/p]
 • [p]Making Text Chat available for in server communication[/p]
Known Issues:
[p]There are also a few known issues that the team is already aware of and working to resolve in our launch window (which could be post launch). These items can be found on our Support Site here: [/p][p]https://support.killingfloor3.com/en/knowledgebase/article/known-issues[/p][p][/p][p]
[/p][p]We have also added new articles to help players who are experiencing other issues, such as around performance or input lag.[/p][p]

Imminent Killing Floor 3 stress test planned ahead of launch, but be quick

Killing Floor 3 is right around the corner, and you can put yourself down to try it right now. Developer Tripwire Interactive is holding a KF3 stress test for a very limited time, as the team aims to plug any holes before launch. After an incredibly rocky beta and delay, Tripwire has been massively improving the experience, so hopefully this new test fares much better.
