Grandpa Perks: Reworked

As mentioned in our Skill Tree Reworks Community Hub post, the team has been working on how to make Grandpa perks function differently in game. We aim to both freshen up gameplay and give more utility to feeding Grandpa, a mechanic that hasn’t quite hit the mark we intended.

We’ve decided to place Grandpa perks into certain level categories. These levels will then be tied to Grandpa’s Family Bond Level in order for it to unlock and proc. A Level One Grandpa perk will only become available to Family once they feed Grandpa up to Level One. We wanted Grandpa to play a bigger role in each match and we are excited to see how Family players strategize their builds accordingly.

Players should keep in mind that if your team only brings Level Three Grandpa Perks, none of them will unlock until your team has fed Grandpa to get Level Three. These perks would then all unlock at the same time.

Here is a list of perks and their corresponding levels:

Level One:
  • Animal Farm
  • Experienced Stalkers
  • Well Well Well
  • Windoom
Level Two:
  • Always in Sync
  • Barge to the Point
  • Brute Strength
  • Suffocating Grip
  • Swing for the Fences
Level Three:
  • Don’t Have All Day
  • Excited Grandpa
  • Exterior Alarms
  • Nobody Escapes Hell
  • Well Fed Young’uns

These changes are scheduled to roll out during our Tuesday, July 16th, 2024 update.

Please let us know your thoughts on these upcoming changes and thanks for reading!

Meet Hands

Hailing from the bible of Kim Henkel, Hands is a distant cousin to the Slaughter Family. The talented Robert Mukes (House of a 1000 Corpses) brings this 7ft tall, nearly 350 lbs, to life. Armed with a hammer and electronic traps, Robert makes Hands a force to be reckoned with.

While Hands is a drag racing legend in Texas, what residents in town don’t know is that he’s got a dark, violent, and gruesome nature. He’s the type of man who gets into grisly altercations at sleazy, run-down biker hangouts. During one of these fights, Hands beats a man to death, rips his face off, and proceeds to wear it as some kind of sick joke. This comes as no surprise as Hands is massive, extremely powerful, and can and will kill you with his bare hands in minutes.

After that altercation, Uncle Hands gives this human “mask” trophy to Leatherface, inadvertently creating a lifelong obsession for the kid.

“Being able to work with Kim Henkel to bring his original vision of Hands to life from his character bible has been both gratifying and amazing. Honoring authenticity and adding more layers to the lore of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has been a dream come true. I hope players will find him as terrifying and brutal as I do.”
- Ronnie Hobbs, Creative Director, Gun Interactive

Aside from wielding a hammer, players will find Hands to be a great asset to any Family team composition. Hands specializes in locking down areas, such as using his homemade electro traps to booby trap barricades, crawlspaces, and other metal objects.

Since Hands knows the ins and outs of machines, his Ripstall ability can be used to physically rip out valves and fuses, as well as being able to start the generator or battery quickly. If all else fails, Hands can use his body to take on a defensive stance. Anyone silly enough to approach him runs the risk of being knocked down by a well-timed barge.

“I am so excited for folks to see what I brought to the table with Hands. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is one of my all time favorite horror movies. I first saw it at 12 years old and thought it was a documentary because it felt so real. It’s amazing that I now get to work with an IP that means so much to me. With Kane Hodder doing stunt coordination, I had a blast mo-capping Hands as I used his hammer to bash Victims upside the head”
- Robert Mukes, Actor

Hands will be arriving to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on June 11th, 2024.
