Our top community room picks for September!
Wrapping up September
September has been another great month for Escape Simulator! In case you missed it, we released our brand new 70's room. This room is part of a free update that also includes several new features and tweaks to the room editor. You can read all about this new update right here!

Additionally, a Build-A-Thon took place during which the room builders from our community had to make a tiny 'Lost Artifact' room within only 48 hours. Last week we announced our ten nominees right here and you can still vote for your favorite rooms until October 5, 6PM CEST. Voting can be done via the Google Form found here. The three winners will be announced during our livestream on Twitch, YouTube and here on Steam. Be sure to tune in, because we will also be sharing a special announcement! 👀

Finally, September also saw the release of many great new community rooms! So without further ado, these were some of our favorites!
Very underground
The Subway Heist is yet another great room by GetOffMyBeard known for The Space Escape. In The Subway Heist, you're playing as someone named Mickey who's part of a big heist. Your task is to ensure a safe getaway through the subway. Will you be able to make your escape?
Check for prints!
In Paperback Predicament by Brengo, you're finishing some simple assignments for your boss at a printing workshop. Sounds like this should be an easy enough task, right? However, not everything might be as it seems. Go try it out to find out what's really going on here!
An aquatic escape
Under The Sea is another beautifully atmospheric room by Duc. As the title of this room implies, it takes place in the deep, murky depths of the sea. Be sure to have a good look around, because you'll spot plenty of aquatic flora and fauna here!
A devilish sequel!
If there's one room we've been looking forward to for quite some time now, it has to be The Devilish Diorama 2 by Zesty Mordant. It's a full-blown sequel to one of our all-time favorite rooms and features some excellent voice acting by Twitch streamer Murkked. Once again, this room is filled to the brim with dioramas that will directly affect your surroundings. Be sure to check out this devilishly tricky room!
It's a wrap!
And that's it for our monthly picks of September! We would once again like to thank all of the dedicated builders from our community for all of your creativity and hard work. If you haven't already, be sure to join us over on Discord and Reddit to talk about all things Escape Simulator. We hope to see you all during the Build-A-Thon livestream!

Build-A-Thon '22 Update: And the nominees are...
Drum roll please! 🥁
On the 17th and 18th of September, we asked the room builders from our community to build a tiny room within 48 hours. This means they were only allowed to use one single space on the grid of the in-game room editor. The theme they had to work with? Lost Artifact!

A grand total of twenty room builders participated in this Build-A-Thon. Out of the twenty rooms that got submitted, we have selected ten of our personal favorites for you to vote on. Please note that the following nominees are in random order. So without further ado, here are our ten nominees!

Congratulations to everyone who got nominated! There were a lot of really great entries, so the selection process definitely wasn't easy. We want to thank everyone who took the time to participate in this event. You all did an excellent job!
But wait, now what?
Now that we have ten nominees, it's up to all of you to select three winners! In order to vote for your favorites, we would like to ask all of you to rank each room via the Google Form found right here. The top three builders will win our illusive Mystery Pine Box. Voting ends on October 5 at 6PM CEST, so don't wait too long! We will officially announce the three winners during a livestream on October 6, so we hope to see you there!

We hope you like lava lamps and disco balls, because it's time to go back to the 70's. That's right, we're releasing a brand-new room for Escape Simulator today! In order to escape from this incredibly cozy looking room, you'll need to know your way around some 'ancient' technology, such as cassette decks and a very retro game console. So vintage!

That's not all, though! The 70's room is part of our latest update, which also contains a whole bunch of additional features for the room editor. We hope you're excited to start using these features, builders! Additionally, this update contains the following tweaks:

- Different internal level packing, the game should be smaller on disk. It's about 5GB smaller than before!
- New hint system that tracks what puzzle you are playing and gives relevant hints
- Localization fixes
- Separated settings and save files. Only save is uploaded to cloud save, meaning settings is local to the machine.
- Faster performance mode for custom rooms
- Disable shadows option has 2x increased FPS in built-in rooms
- Chat key is can be rebound to different key
- Changed how zooms are calculated, some items are now bigger for better clarity
- Better controller support
- Better support for breaking hanging objects (plants, mirrors, ...)
- Its easier to use slots with controller with new Controller-Slot interaction UX

More patch notes can be found right here!
More rooms to check out! 👀
We really hope you'll enjoy this free update and that you'll continue to look forward to even more rooms in the future!
