Shadow Fight Arena Q&A: Ep. 2

[p]Hello everyone! We've compiled a second part of our answers to your questions regarding the PC version (and more!).[/p][p]Read the first episode with answers:[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

[p]Will there be an option to locally play together in the PC version?[/p][p]Yes, we can confirm that local multiplayer will find its way into the Arena on pc! You'll be able to play with your family and friends on a single PC by using multiple gamepads or a keyboard.[/p]

[p]Will PC version retain the same structure of monetization, P2W and account progress?[/p][p]The PC version has the same progression system as the mobile version because Shadow Fight Arena is a crossplay game, so the progression system has to be identical wherever you play. We strive to develop Shadow Fight Arena as a fair game: we have a progression cap, and all gameplay-relevant content can be unlocked completely for free. In-app purchases are only meant to speed up your journey to unlock desired content and do not guarantee victories in our game.[/p]

[p]How can we earn the new ad-skipping currency? Will this currency be available in the mobile version? Since ads are a great tool to help with account progress, how will the lack of ads in the Steam version affect us? How does a Fight Pass subscription interact with ads in the Steam version?[/p][p]You can view this new currency as a neat little perk from the developers, as you will get some of it for free daily when you log in the PC version. You can spend these tokens both on PC and mobile devices. The lack of ads in the game's Steam version shouldn't affect the players much: firstly, you can use the new currency; secondly, you can watch ads on your phone and then play the matches on PC. Purchasing a Fight Pass subscription (not to be confused with a seasonal Fight Pass) via your mobile device disables ads on both your device and on the Steam version while allowing you to enjoy the benefits of ad rewards.[/p]

[p]Will the game have Steam page customization elements, such as badges, backgrounds, avatars and emotes?[/p][p]Yes, we have plans to add backgrounds, badges, cards and emotes to Steam shortly after the game's release. We cannot add them beforehand — such is Valve's policy.[/p]

[p]What will happen if I log in from both PC and mobile at the same time?[/p][p]You cannot play Shadow Fight Arena from multiple devices at once. If you log in on your PC and then log in on your phone, your PC game session will be closed and vice versa.[/p]

[p]Can I link multiple accounts to my Nekki ID, or is it limited to one game account per Nekki ID?[/p][p]One Nekki ID account can only be linked to one game account for each server: PROD-EU, PROD-AS, PROD-US.[/p]

[p]We want more details regarding Nekki ID and account linking in general.[/p][p]Nekki ID is a way to safely store your Nekki games' progress and synchronize it across all mobile devices and gaming platforms. You create an account linked to your email, and if you log in using these credentials when launching the game on a new device, then your game progress will be automatically carried over to the new device.[/p]

[p]Do you develop the game on your own engine or is it done on Unity/Unreal?[/p][p]Shadow Fight Arena was developed on Unity, an engine with great capabilities for making cross-platform games, so we didn't have to change anything for PC.[/p]

[p]Will the PC version have reduced input lag?[/p][p]There is an equal input lag across all platforms: it'll be the same on PC and mobile devices as we do not want to give PC players a competitive advantage. If you compare the experience to emulators, your input lag might feel reduced because you'll be playing via a direct installation of the game on your PC, rather than an emulation.[/p]

[p]When will the story mode update arrive? Will it be released alongside a new chapter?[/p][p]Story mode improvements have been pushed to next year. We don't plan a chapter release alongside the story mode update.[/p]

[p]How can I tell if someone's playing from a PC?[/p][p]As of release there will be no indication of what platform a player is currently using.[/p]

[p]Can we look forward to location/hero reworks in the near future?[/p][p]We've already released a new location this Thursday — "City of Sages". Take part in the new event and behold its beauty! We also have plans to visually improve some heroes, but it's too early to talk about that right now.[/p]

[p]Do you have any plans to host events similar to Nekki Summer Fest 2025 in the near future?[/p][p]We're looking into different ideas for events to hold in Autumn, but aren't announcing anything for now. Stay tuned![/p]

[p]Will voice/text chat be added to the game?[/p][p]We've already said that we have no plans to add voice or text chat in the game, but it may change in the future. We're looking into ways of making communication comfortable and save for all of our players.[/p]

[p]Will there be any profile customization options?[/p][p]We have plans to add some profile customization in the future, such as profile badges that you can earn by getting onto the leaderboard, maxing out your account level, contributing to the game's community etc.[/p]

[p]Will there be Steam achievements?[/p][p]No, there will be no Steam achievements on release.[/p]

[p]Will there be Steam OS/Steam Deck support?[/p][p]Shadow Fight Arena should properly work on Steam Deck upon release. If you're talking about an official Steam status, then that takes time — we have to pass all sorts of compatibility checks, and a lot hinges on Valve in this process.[/p]

[p]Why did you choose Steam instead of making a launcher?[/p][p]The reason is rather simple — it's more convenient for players to download games via Steam, and having lots of launchers on a PC is quite a hassle. We don't want to inconvenience the players. Even Battlefield 6 was launched on Steam, who are we to not do that?[/p]

[p]Will PC/laptop scaling affect game design and immersion?[/p][p]We want to show the world of Shadow Fight Arena to a brand new audience by releasing it on PC. Perhaps, this desire will affect our understanding of game design and how to create immersion within this design. As we've said before, PC launch is just the first step on a new grand journey that Shadow Fight Arena is about to embark on.[/p]

[p]What was your main goal and target audience when making the PC version?[/p][p]Our goals were: A) give existing players who wanted to play on PC an option to do so B) let new players who, for one reason or another, don't play mobile games discover Shadow Fight Arena.[/p]

[p]Should we wait for the Arena to be released for consoles?[/p][p]It largely depends on how successful the PC version is. If we'll see that this platform holds as many fans as the mobile version then we might consider a console release as well.[/p]

[p][/p][p]We're waiting for you at the Arena! Shadow Fight Arena Q&A: Ep. 1

[p]Hello everyone! We’ve received lots of questions about the game’s PC version and are ready to answer some of the most common ones. We’ll release a part two next week, so follow our updates![/p][p][/p]

[p]When will Shadow Fight Arena be released on Steam?[/p][p]We plan to release the game by the end of this year.[/p]

[p]Will the game be free?[/p][p]Yes, the game will be free.[/p]

[p]Will the PC version of the game have different core mechanics compared to the mobile version?[/p][p]We're making a crossplay game, so having gameplay mechanics exclusive to the PC version would lead to them having an unfair advantage. Core gameplay mechanics are identical across all platforms, and we strive to improve the game for everyone at the same time — we'd love to hear your feedback on what potential mechanics pique your interest via your Community Hub submissions![/p]

[p]Can I link my existing mobile version's progress to the PC version?[/p][p]Yes, of course! We're introducing a unified Nekki ID system that will allow you to save and synchronize progress across your PC and mobile devices. Play anywhere you see fit![/p]

[p]How do you plan to combat PC cheaters? Surely there will be a lot more of them compared to the mobile version, no?[/p][p]We already have several countermeasures at network code level to prevent cheating. Closely monitoring our analytics and player behavior after the PC launch will be our priority and we will employ additional measures if needed.[/p]

[p]Will old bugs be fixed in the PC version?[/p][p]It's crucial for us to know which bugs our community deems most important to fix as quickly as possible! Let's gather them on our Discord server: send us bug reports with as much information as you can, or ask other players to help with getting screenshots or videos of them. We'll be happy to tell you our plans on any particular issue.[/p]

[p]Will PC players have an advantage due to having different controls?[/p][p]Shadow Fight Arena is designed in a way that levels the playing field across all input methods - our game is all about tactical decision making, superior positioning and making successful reads on your opponent rather than lightning-fast reaction times, where a gamepad might've given the edge to PC players.[/p]

[p]Will the PC version of the game have different graphics compared to the mobile version?[/p][p]No, there will be no drastic graphics improvements on launch, but we won't completely rule out the possibility of releasing a PC-exclusive HD texture pack sometime in the future.[/p]

[p]Will game updates be released at the same time across PC and mobile versions?[/p][p]Yes, crossplay would be impossible without simultaneous updates on all available platforms. There may be differences between update availability on different platforms, but they will not exceed a couple of hours.[/p]

[p]How is matchmaking going to function? Will it be random whether I face a PC player or a mobile player?[/p][p]Yes, upon PC version's release the game will become cross-platformed and you may be matched against opponents who are playing from a mobile device or a PC.[/p]

[p]Will weapons and rewards be identical to the mobile version?[/p][p]Yes, both weapons and rewards will be the same across all platforms. The only difference is a new currency called "Express Tokens". PC players will get it daily for logging in the game.[/p]

[p]When will the clan system be released? Will it be added alongside the PC release?[/p][p]Clans system will not be released this year, but we're steadily working on it. We plan to release it across all platforms simultaneously.[/p]

[p]Can I link my Google account to the PC version or will I have to link my progress to my Steam account separately?[/p][p]You can link your game account to our new Nekki ID system, which will allow you to resume playing anytime and on any device.[/p]

[p]Can I use the same controller that I normally use with my PC? What about an Xbox controller?[/p][p]Yes, the game will support PlayStation and Xbox controllers.[/p]

[p]Will there be any PC version optimizations aimed at reducing lags and freezes that are currently present on mobile version and when playing via the emulator?[/p][p]Lags and freezes are mainly linked to poor internet connection and the way emulators work. PC version is certainly eliminating any emulator-sided problems as it is a native game installation on your computer, rather than an app within an app. Emulators are making any game way less optimized and worsen the internet connection's quality. Freezes and lags caused purely by connection issues should also be less common since normally the connection in question is more stable and secure on PCs.[/p]

[p]Will there be any PC-exclusive store offers or events?[/p][p]We don't plan any big exclusive content, there's no point in that, but we might slightly adjust the balancing of events or marathons in the future to account for platform differences. Also, from time to time we will give our players some opportunities to feel more rewarded for playing both on PC and mobile devices.[/p]

[p]What will PC controls look like?[/p][p]You can use a keyboard or a gamepad. You can also change your keybinds for different control elements via the game's settings.[/p]

[p]Will I be able to play with more than 60 FPS?[/p][p]Yes, if your monitor has a higher refresh rate than 60 Hz. We've added a VSync setting to the PC version - if enabled, your frame rate will only be limited by your monitor's refresh rate. [/p][p]There will be no separate setting for manually capping your FPS.[/p]

[p]Will there be any PC-exclusive content?[/p][p]Players who log in the PC version on launch will be rewarded with a rare Jack Bulwark weapon that has a unique mechanic. Wishlist the game now![/p]

[p]How will in-game purchases via Steam work? Will prices be any different compared to the mobile version?[/p][p]In-game purchases will go through Steam wallet. Prices may have slight fluctuations due to the platform's currency conversion. [/p][p]After the release we plan to add separate sets of currencies and content that you can buy via the game's page.[/p]

[p]According to your testing, will PC version's controls be as smooth as on mobile devices?[/p][p]The game will feel as smooth as the mobile version. There won't be any input lags that are commonplace when using emulators, since we can fine-tune the controller's response time directly, unlike with emulators.[/p]

[p][/p][p]Subscribe to Shadow Fight Arena’s social media pages so you don’t miss out on news and contests![/p][p][/p][p]Keep fighting![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

Shadow Fight games have been played by around one billion people over the course of the franchise’s history, and we’ve made a long journey from a single player 2D fighting game with simple silhouettes to a visually rich 3D game while still keeping our core values: realistic fighting styles and animations, unique and charismatic characters, vast fantasy lore and simple controls that all kinds of players can grasp. We sincerely hope that new players will like Shadow Fight Arena just as much as millions of our existing fans.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]We’ve previously shared our plans about a PC release. Shadow Fight Arena

Hey all,

Our team is rather famous in the world of mobile games and we have been waiting for our moment to meet PC players. We are Banzai Games, the studio behind the Shadow Fight series. Last year we made a big step in the new era of the franchise by introducing real-time PvP mode. Now it is our time to make a Steam appearance.

Shadow Fight represents our vision of the fighting games. We are driven by the following principles: a) we love great realistic animations and we want to share this love in our visual style and gameplay b) we want to make fighting games comfortable to play for as many players as possible c) we are fans of various cultures around the world and we want to integrate all their beauty into our universe d) we are making weapon-based fighting games, because it diversifies the gameplay and animations, and also allows us to bring something new to the genre.

The story of Shadow Fight began 10 years ago when we made a fighting game with a rich RPG experience. We created an interesting world inspired by ninjas and samurai, we enhanced it with a range of different fighting styles which we could find in the real world. We are big fans of martial arts and weapons mastery and we want to demonstrate all their greatness to the world in a very entertaining manner. 10 years later we still provide the most unique fighting experience on mobile platforms and it’s mostly due to the devotion to our interests.

We aim to bring this unique fighting game experience to all kinds of players using all possible gaming platforms through our latest title Shadow Fight Arena. On our Steam page we will share our PC approach and introduce you to all ins and outs of the Shadow Fight universe. For those who are familiar with the series we will be revealing new and exciting details.

Follow our community hub, leave the comments and share your questions, we will be keeping in touch!
