Dev Log #036: 2022-11-18

This week, we continued making progress in designing cards and animation, implementing combat logic, and developing story plots for Swing King. We also fixed a couple of bugs, continue improving mobile UI, and improved the talent tree to be more helpful.

The game is now on Steam, Taptap International (Android) and Aifadian (iOS and Andriod Beta testing), please pick your favorite platforms!

  • Add click-to-dismiss gesture on mobile after detail window or instructions are activated by long-press to optimize user experiences.


[h2]Improve and Balancing[/h2]
  • Staff of Nine Rings is now a Special relic instead of a Boss relic.
  • Now Princess Iron Fan does not prevent certain relics or power to trigger, such as Lone Wolf's ring.
  • Monkey King's Heart Protector makes a little Monkey protect you at end of your turn.
  • Now Lord of the Realm can only be triggered by an Attack card.
  • Talent Tree enhancement: based on our community’s feedback, we enhanced the 3 universal branches of the talent tree.
    • Constitution Spell Vol 1: Apply 1 permanent constitution -> Apply 2 permanent constitution
    • Constitution Spell Vol 2: Apply 2 permanent constitution -> Apply 3 permanent constitution
    • Strength Spell Vol 1: Apply 1 permanent strength -> Apply 2 permanent strength
    • Strength Spell Vol 2: Apply 2 permanent strength -> Apply 3 permanent strength
    • Health Spell Vol 1: Gain 10 MAX HP -> gain 15 MAX HP

[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Fix Imperial Seal of Hell popping up unwanted text.
  • Fix the bug that Dragon Princess failed to learn a few upgraded companion cards.
  • Fix trial level panel order issue on-screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
  • Fix a bug of protecting a hostage when a hostage is Sleeping or Stunned.
  • Fix a potential bug that empowers the Team cannot correctly add Strength.
  • Fix a permanent constitution bug in the Lantern Festival event.

Dev Log #035: 2022-11-11

This week, we continued making progress in designing cards and animation for Swine King, optimizing UI for mobile; we also added four brand-new relics and made adjustments and improvements.

[h2]Optimization[/h2]
We adjusted the mobile UI based on beta testing feedback that the window will appear for at least 1 second after the release of the long press gesture.

[h2]Improving and Balancing[/h2]
  • Polarity Stone: Your team heals 15% HP when you enter the camp.
  • Lantern: When your team is larger than 2, gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn.
  • Demonic Rope: Deal additional 25% Attack damage to the elite and boss.
  • Divine Armor: When your HP is not below 50%, gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn.
  • Willow Branch Bottle: Gain 1/2/3 Artifact at the start of regular/elite/boss combat respectively.
  • Imperial Seal of Hell: Add Immune to damage for this turn after you trigger the relic.
  • Phoenix Feather Fan: gives 3 Burning instead of 1.
  • Shockwave Grenade now affects all enemies.
  • Phantom Swords vulnerable now can be applied by all teams instead of just player
  • Adjust the rarity of Bloodstone to Boss relic.


[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Fix an incorrect target issue when an attack is deflected.
  • Fix a sprite issue of Lohan of Peace.
  • Fix a White Dragon dialog bug.
  • Fix a case where Poison is not negated when Blood of Nine Head Phoenix is used.
  • Fix a bug that Dragon Princess fails to learn an upgraded True Evil card
  • Fix the bug that Avici card of Evil Monk removes evil before dealing damage.
  • Fix learned Artifact spell by Dragon Princess cannot be used after reloading.
  • Fix the issue that Breeze the Apprentice does not leave your party after chapter 2.

Dev Log #034: 2022-11-04

This week, we added multiple platform data synchronization, game saves restore, adjusted some NPC skills to fit into team battles, and implemented a lot of other balances and improvements. Now we have mobile versions available on Aifadian; please check it out!

[h2]Multiple platform data synchronization[/h2]

Step 1: open “Settings” -> “Game” on one of your devices.


Step 2: click the “Upload” to upload the game save, and a key will be generated and copied to clipboard.


Step 3: click on “Download” and enter the key from another device (mobile or PC).



Step 4: once the download process is completed, you can continue the game from this device with the same data as the other machine.

Game save restore function[/h2]
Click on the “restore” on the same menu to restore the game file to a backup version 1 days, 3 days, or 1 week ago. This function is a good solution if your current game save is broken.


[h2]Optimization[/h2]
  • Clicking on the NPC name on the detail window can jump to the compendium page.
  • You can use “All” button to instantly pick all card from Hand.


[h2]Balance and Improve[/h2]
  • Adjusted Mighty Monkey’s cards: Twist the Knife -> Defensive Offense
  • Bloodstone can deal damage even if your HP is full.
  • We adjusted some NPC skills to make them more useful when they are on the player's side.


[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Fixed a bug that Memory Keeper and Master of Thunder Tower won't drop relics in endless mode.
  • Fixed little monkey attack delay issue during Omen fight.
  • Fixed sprite of goat hunter.
  • Fixed enemy of enemy and good monk companion summoning undefeated enemies.
  • Fixed a bug that Black Market can purify NPC you didn't defeat.
  • Fixed deadly poison incorrectly removing debuffs.
  • Fixed damage of Ready to Die.
  • Fixed learned Artifact spell by Dragon Princess cannot be used after reload.



Dev Log #033: 2022-10-27

This week, we added another new companion: Mighty Monkey(Wukong’s shadow of strength), added 2 new relics, and finished English localization for chapter 4 and endings. We also continue working on the development of the new Hero, the Swine King.

[h2]Mighty Monkey[/h2]
- Wukong’s shadow of strength. Mighty Monkey is good at stacking up damage using Rupture debuff.
- Unlocks after finishing Wukong’s trial 1 in story mode.



We also add 2 new relics:
  • Iron Breaking Scroll - you can find it on Mighty Monkey!
  • Bloodstone


[h2]Optimizations[/h2]
  • Skipping is not allowed for plot-based characters to enter combat to ensure the game's stability.
  • We are optimizing the click gesture on mobile platforms, as well as the cross-platform saves synchronization.

[h2]Improve and balance[/h2]
  • Life Stealer now affects the entire team
  • Allow most of the summon cards to be played even when there is no spot to add new characters in combat.
  • Hunting Beauty
    • Confusing Spell: Exhaust. Apply 1 confused to all enemies. Apply 1 apparition to elite or boss
  • Shadow Fairy
    • Artifact: apply 1/2 Artifact to the team。
    • Cleanse: Retain, Exhaust. Remove all debuffs from the team
    • Purify: Retain, Exhaust. Remove all buffs from the target
  • Celestial of Wealth
    • Gold Strike: costs 15 gold, deals 20/30/40 damage
    • Gold Armor: costs 15 gold, gives 12/16/20 block to the team
  • Relic
    • Lotus Platform: Now each card in the deck grants 1 HP to the team whenever entering an Elite or Boss location.
    • Nine-Petal Maces: Now grant 2/3/4 strength to the team when Normal/Elite/Boss combat starts.

[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Fix a potential stuck bug when using a consumable while a card is playing from the Draw pile.
  • Fix Accumulation damage does not increase after an upgrade.






Dev Log #032: 2022-10-21

5 New Companions!


This week, we added five new companions: Hairy Monkey, Good Monk, Evil Monk, Water Dragon, and Ice Dragon! These new companions representing different builds of the existing Heroes (Wukong, Holy Monk, and White Dragon), and each comes with a set of current or extended skills inherited from the Hero.

Note that the Hero can’t hire their shadows; for example, Holy Monk can’t hire Good Monk or Evil Monk, while Wukong can’t hire Hair Monkey.


These new companions unlocked various new team-building strategies - come try them out! Soon, you will also be able to construct the legendary team in the Journey to the West novel!




New Companion Details


Hairy Monkey
- One of Wukong’s shadows. Hairy Monkey is good at summoning little monkeys to fight.
- Unlocks after finishing Wukong’s trial 0 in story mode.



Good Monk
- As Holy Monk’s shadow of Good, he is the protector of the team.
- Unlocks after finishing Holy Monk’s trial 0 in story mode.



Evil Monk
- Holy Monk’s shadow of Evil, can leverage Evil Barrier and Avici Hell to unleash powerful strikes.
- Unlocks after finishing Holy Monk’s trial 1 in story mode.



Water Dragon
- White Dragon’s shadow of water, can enhance the team’s damage using water.
- Unlocks after finishing White Dragon’s trial 0 in story mode.



Ice Dragon
- White Dragon’s shadow of ice can destroy enemies by combining freeze and hail storms.
- Unlocks after finishing White Dragon’s trial 1 in story mode.
