Weekly Update! 2022-05-15

This week, we are making good progress on developing endless mode and the final chapter! Major updates are:
  • Endless Mode: Almost finished all the logic and functionalities implementation; working on map hookup
  • Chapter 4: Working on the new map and combat scene drawings
  • Keyboard shortcut: You can now press the E key to end your turn

Jade palace: One of the final battles will happen inside the Jade Palace - where the Jade Emperor resides



Soul Mountain: Wukong will face one of his final challenges on top of Soul Mountain



Heaven Map: Check out the preview of Heaven. What happened when Heaven was chopped in half? We will reveal it later!



New character with corresponding effects



Card UI: We plan to redesign card UIs to provide a better experience. Here is a candidate for the new Wukong card UI design - please leave us your feedback!

Weekly Update! 2022-05-08

This week, we are making good progress on developing internal tools and the final chapter! Major updates are:
  • Internal tool development:
    • Improved in-game analytics of player data
    • Working on a brand new plot editor for modding future story and events editing
  • Side Story: Working on a new challenge - Spider Queen’s revenge
  • Chapter 4: Adding effects for each character; working on new background music and content drawings. Adding animations for characters.

Weekly Update! 2022-05-01

This week, we are making good progress on developing endless mode and the final chapter! Major updates are:
  • Implemented a new feature that a merchant is added in some important combats to provide you an opportunity to buy a consumable before combat gets started. For example Black Hurricane, Son of Fire, Dream Walker, Centipede Monarch, Voodoo Elder, Emissary of Heaven, Nine-Head Phoenix



  • Largely improve the user experience of picking combat objects
    • Resolve the issue of picking the wrong combat objects due to occlusion
    • Picking area is now aligned with the sprite of combat object instead the bounding box
  • Endless Mode: Support random endless mode
  • Chapter 4: Finish all the implementation of NPC of chapter 4, working on the testing

Optimize UI to improve user experiences:
  • Adjust the size of the current Guardian Sword indicator
  • Add copy map seed button
  • Adjust arrow location
  • Add support for backup files

Weekly Update! 2022-04-24

This week, we are making good progress on developing endless mode and the final chapter! Major updates are:
  • Added data analytics to improve future game experience. Please consent to share play through data with us so we can improve the game more effectively!
  • Endless Mode: we are testing and adjusting the algorithm, smoothing difficulty curve, etc
  • Chapter 4: we are adjusting AI patterns, mechanisms, values for newly implemented NPCs. There will be 3 main storylines in the final chapter, each has multiple endings; choices you made along the journey will impact your final ending for this run!

  • Soul Mountains: Wukong noticed dark shadows surrounding the Soul Mountains. Something is not right.

Optimize UI tooltips, additional info, and simplify description of Relics to improve user experiences:
  • add a detailed description for Monkey King's Skin
  • Explain “Amused” card in event choices
  • Explain Evil Barrier in additional card information
  • Center status tooltips for better display

Neutral Card
  • Centipede Monarch's Eyes: Energy cost 3-> 1; now uses remaining energy after each turn to charge eyes
  • T Worm Seed: can only target Companion or Minion
  • Living Wood Tripod: can only target Companion or Minion, Energy cost 3->2
  • Paralyzed: Reduces 5Max HP ->3 Max HP (before Trial 17)
NPC
  • Hell Judge: Silence will only add 1 Paralyzed card
Consumables
  • Painted Brush: now copies HP and Max HP of target for 3 turns, does not add a curse card anymore
