Game Patch: 15 March 2023 - 10766709

Hey fight fans,

This patch contains a range of balance changes including fighter updates, cuts and bruises, and more, as well as some bug fixes. Before we jump into the notes for this patch, we want to talk about some of the key areas players are most eager to see updated and that we’re focused on ensuring improve over the next few updates.

Online Stability and Cheaters

In our previous content update we spoke about our work in these areas, our determination to get them right, and that how that will take time. While this update contains a small fix that should slightly reduce the number of disconnections online, more work is ongoing in the background, and we continue to roll out new bans for anyone caught cheating in the meantime. We’ll continue to update you on our progress on these issues here and in our community channels.

Gameplay

We’ve also seen a lot of feedback around what happens inside the ring. Particularly around head and body health, stamina balancing, AI, and body uppercuts. Over the next few updates, you can expect to see changes made to the health system, adjusted targeting for body uppercuts so that they can’t be so easily abused, and AI improvements which will continue to be expanded on throughout the course of early access.

With stamina usage and other balancing, we have to strike a good balance for both online and offline play, which sometimes necessitates making balance adjustments only alongside other changes, such as improving the AI so that it’s more capable of reacting to and maintaining its stamina levels in a way that players can. That being said, this update does contain a small adjustment for stamina (see notes below), and you can expect to see further adjustments to stamina throughout the course of early access.

Now let’s jump into the notes for the patch shipped on 15 March 2023 – 10766709

Update Hotfix: 28th of February 2023 - 10657970

Hey fight fans,

Below are the patch notes for the update hotfix shipped on 28 February 2023 - 10657970. This is focused on fixing some issues that players have noticed in today's build.

- Fixed an issue where players using Sergio Martinez were sometimes experiencing their game controls locking up mid-fight.

- Disabled stance switching and push in online play. These were mistakenly pushed live with today's build, and are not yet ready for online play as they're still a work in progress.

Game Update: 28 February 2023 - 10623308

Hey Fight Fans,

This is our first content update in line with our roadmap and includes 3 new fighters, new venues, and more. While this update has been in progress for some time and is a content-focused update, there are a few areas we know players are most concerned about which we'd like to address here.

Cheaters

This is one of the top issues in the game right now for online players. We know it's incredibly frustrating to run into cheaters in online matches, and with this update we're taking action against a number of players who have been hurting the online experience for everyone else. These bans are a first step toward a larger initiative to ensure fair play online. We're continuing to work toward improved cheat detection and will deploy additional updates over time.

In the meantime, please continue to use the report player functionality in the game, which is available in the menu at the end of a fight, and if you have a video, you can link a YouTube video in the report too. Cheating is never something that will be ok and your reports have been helpful to us in making this first wave of bans.

Online Stability

We've also been monitoring the online feedback you're giving us related to disconnections and surrenders that are happening, fight desync, and some matchmaking issues as well.

These are complicated issues that require time and testing, and while today's update doesn't address these things, work on these issues is ongoing and we're committed to getting them right because we recognise how important these issues are. We know it can be rough playing through these things, so we really appreciate you sticking by us and giving us so much great feedback to help improve the game.

Below are the patch notes for the update shipped on 28 February 2023 - 10623308.

- Added 'Technicolour Gym'. Hit the ring and look good doing it under the coloured neon lights from which the venue gets it's name.

- Added a nighttime version of the existing 'Coldwell Gym' venue, and a daytime version of the existing 'Empire Pro' venue.

Gameplay Changes

- We've updated inside fighting with a new push animation and improved responsiveness.

- Made further tweaks to judge preferences in an effort to produce fairer fight results.

General Changes

- The fighter's team can now be seen walking with the fighter during the ringwalk timelines.

- Introduced motion blur settings.

- Fixed an issue that caused the game to apply the wrong resolution when first launched.

- Fixed an issue causing fighter models to fail to load in the Fighter Select menu if a player returns to fighter select midway through a match.

- Fixed an issue where the in-game pause menu would remain faintly visible after a player had navigated to other menus.

Game Update: Undisputed Update 16 February 2023 - 10566251

Hey Fight Fans,

Below are the patch notes for the update shipped on 16 February 2023 - 10566251.

This update contains a small change (see below) that should improve the amount of desync some players are seeing online. We want to take this opportunity to reiterate that online matchmaking and stability are ongoing areas of focus for us, and getting online play to a place we're happy with it is going to take time, so we appreciate your patience.

Somewhat related to that, we've seen reports of players encountering cheaters when playing casual or ranked matches online. The best thing you can do if you run into someone obviously cheating is to use the report function at the end of the match - we monitor reports and will begin taking action against players who we know to be cheating while we work on longer-term solutions.

Gameplay Changes

- Reduced the overall impact that accuracy, punches thrown, counter punches, and defence has on how judges score a fight. This is in an effort to produce fairer scoring results. Some judges still value these things over punches landed, but less heavily than before.

- Made adjustments to punch tracking to make slipping and dodging more viable.

- Improved the way we handle Arm Fatigue online, which we hope will reduce some amount of desync players are experiencing.

Boxer Changes

- Muhammad Ali: Overall reduced from 94 to 93, with his power punch moving from 89 to 84, his Right Hand Power moving from 92 to 89, and his Left Hand Power moving from 88 to 87.

- Sugar Ray Robinson: (Welterweight) Overall rating reduced from 92 to 91, with minor adjustments made across a range of stats.

- Sugar Ray Robinson: (Middleweight) Overall rating reduced from 92 to 91, with minor adjustments made across a range of stats.

- Sugar Ray Robinson: (Lightweight) Overall rating reduced from 92 to 91, with minor adjustments made across a range of stats.

- Natasha Jonas: Changed her fight stance to Southpaw. Added the 'Sting Like a Bee' and 'KO Artist' traits. Changed her fight style to Outside Fighter.

- Sophie Alisch: Added the 'Untouchable' trait. Changed her fight style to Outside Fighter.

- Ebanie Bridges: Added the 'Right Hand Bomb' and 'KO Artist' traits. Changed her fight style to Slugger.

- Chantelle Cameron: Added the 'Sting Like a Bee' and 'Punches in Bunches' traits.

- Terri Harper: Added the 'Bombs Away' and 'Distance Keeper' traits. Changed her fight style to Outside Fighter.

- Jessica McCaskill: Added the 'Bombs Away' and 'Granite Chin' traits.

- Delfine Persoon: Added the 'Tireless' and 'Third Wind' traits. Changed her fight style to Swarmer.

- Cecilia Braekhus: Added the 'Distance Keeper' trait.

- Katie Taylor: Changed her fight style to Swarmer.
