Gameplay balance update changelog

Quite a lot of people have played EQI and voice their opinions. There was one thing coming up quite frequently. The long bridge level.

You found it frustrating, and following many people play-throughs we were able to pin-point the most frustrating parts. We decided to act upon your feedback, and - just this once - make the game a bit ore forgiving.

 • The checkpoint location in the Long Bridge level has been altered, so now it is closer to the hard part, to reduce backtracking
 • Some minor geometry alterations were made, to avoid pixel-perfect jump requirement

Enjoy your journey!
BEGIN COMMUNICATION.
It's been 10 day's since EQI launched on Steam, and we're happy - and a little bit overwhelmed - with the great reception. Thousands of users played the game, even more added it to their libraries. Our little trippy FPP action-puzzle reached a mind-blowing number of nearly 100 000 players in the first week! Your Steam reviews are heartwarming, and every recommendation makes more people try EQI.

Among the praises, you have given us some valuable feedback. This - in turn - gave us the incentive to introduce some improvements:

 • Those who finished the game, can now skip levels pressing "T" or "start" button on the controller.
 • The "Long Bridge" level has been slightly re-worked, to make it more approachable and... well... fair.
 • The checkpoint system has been improved, to make sure your progress in the game is steady.
 • To return to the last checkpoint you will press "Y" on your keyboard or controller.
 • Per player-request you can now toggle run mode pressing "r" or "caps-lock",
What if synthwave was a game?
Hyperstrange presents a hardcore arcade challange wrapped in a psychodelic enigma. EQI, a First-person perspective action-puzzler set in an abstract digital realm, developed by Chopin et al. Are you ready to submerge yourself in the synthwave pulse?

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Inspired by the haunting visions of Cyberspace in cinema classics such as TRON and Johnny Mnemonic, and wrapped in the pulsating sounds of original synthwave OST, EQI takes the player on a journey through over 20 twisted stages. The digital world can be turned around its axis, as the player rushes to find the exit. The challenge comes from controlling not only your own movement, but also the world around you at the same time. Sometimes, the key to beating a level will be understanding its twisted perspective.

The game was developed by our friends at Chopin et al., a small indie studio based in Warsaw, Poland - just as Hyperstrange. The full game is available to you free of charge. If you enjoy it, and want to support us and the developer, please leave your review and let other players know that EQI is worth checking out!
