November Community Update
Hello SnowRunners!
November is behind us, so it’s past time for the monthly Community Update! We hope everyone is doing well trucking, logging and engine-stalling in the wild! As you have probably seen by now, we have big news:
Season 6 releases December 7th!
Note December 7th in your calendars, as Season 6: Haul & Hustle will be released that day! Discover the new screenshots to feel the vibe of Maine, USA.

Two new maps await you in this new region. They feature various points of interest, such as a lighthouse, an old church and more! We can’t wait to see you discover all the places of Maine!

Two new vehicles will also join your fleet: the Aramastu Forwarder, an agile 8x8 forestry specialist with a built-in crane and log trailer; and the Tayga 6455B, a strong 6-wheeler with fantastic off-road capabilities. We hope you’ll have a good time maneuvering them!

Your main objective in this brand-new region is to establish a forest base starting from scratch. This task won’t be easy, as the basic functions of your garage won’t be available in the beginning. Not only that, but you won’t even be able to repair, refuel, and buy upgrades or new vehicles in your garage! You’ll have to be extra careful with your resource management, especially if you’re playing in Hard Mode.
Photo Contest
As we announced last month, we’re adding a Photo Mode with this update, allowing you to capture the moment and edit it, with various functions like setting the time of the day, the weather, showing or hiding the driver, and more!

We want to see how creative you can be with this new tool, so we’ll be holding a photo contest! More details on it very soon, so make sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Discord!

And before you ask, yes, winners will get a little reward 🏆

That’s it for this month! As always, thank you for tuning in and for your continuous support. We sincerely hope that you’ll like this new Season and can’t wait to see you face the new challenge it brings!

We’ll see you in the snow,

-The Saber and Focus Entertainment teams

Season 6: Haul & Hustle releases December 7th!
Hello Runners!
We’re thrilled to announce that on December 7, SnowRunner will expand its horizons to Maine, USA, with two new maps, two new vehicles, and more cosmetics, alongside a free update with two of the top requested features from the community!
Take a look at these new screenshots to immerse yourself in this brand new region!
A new winter region with dangerous and diverse terrain
Year 2 Pass owners will plunge deep into Season 6’s chilly forests of Maine in an effort to establish a forestry base without even basic garage functions like refueling and repairs, at least to begin with. Across two large sandbox maps, both mud and snow must be defeated with the aid of two brand new vehicles: the 8x8 forestry specialist Aramastu Forwarder, and the strong, solid Tayga 6455B, an off-road 6-wheeler.
Don’t miss the Free update with Consoles-PC Crossplay, Photo Mode, and more!
Along with Season 6 on December 7, SnowRunner will get a big free update, bringing crossplay between Steam and other platforms, along with the eagerly anticipated Photo Mode! Players will be able to use the free cam and a ton of effects to take stunning stills of the vibrant SnowRunner wilderness. Additionally, a number of new addons and vehicle cosmetics will be free to all, including for the top ten trucks in the game as voted by the community.

Season 6: Haul & Hustle will be available December 7 on Steam as a part of the Year 2 Pass. SnowRunner is available in a Premium Edition including the base game and the Year 1 Pass now on all platforms. For more information, visit our official shop page.

Meet the Modder: Olsom

Hello Runners,

For today's modder interview, we're excited to welcome Olsom, the author of some amazingly detailed mods!
How did you get into gaming?
When buying the first family PC back in 2003, my parents also included a cheap set of racing wheel and pedals along with Need for Speed: Underground which probably also had a large impact on my taste in music. I have been an avid gamer since then, playing a large variety of genres throughout the years. These days, what little time I have left for gaming is usually spent in SnowRunner and War Thunder.
Could you tell us a little bit about your background?
Born in Hungary, moved to Sweden with my family in my early teens. Being a gamer, spending a lot of my free time at the computer, a degree in computer engineering seemed natural. Since then I’ve been working as a development engineer at Scania, so coding and trucks have been part of my daily life for quite a while now and modding extends that to my free time as well.
What got you into modding?
My first experience with mods was in GTA: San Andreas, although I never did anything more than editing some text files to change how vehicles handled. More recently, it was the fact that I didn’t like that the only 4 slot trailer option in SnowRunner, the ramped flatbed trailer, seemed like more of an on-road machine trailer than something you’d use for transporting cargo offroad, so I decided to do something about it.
Where do you start with your mods? What’s your process and what triggers the idea?
When working on my trailers, I found that adding them to the game as early as possible (meaning 3 cubes and 4 wheels) helped me a lot in deciding what they should look and feel like, especially figuring out how much detail I should add to certain parts, depending on how visible it will actually be once in game. Since then, I have mostly been working together with Rng3r on implementing some of his ideas and models in game, like the bridge, wheel loader, and a crane that’s still work in progress.

The logical next step after the trailers was to start working on a complete truck. It took quite some time for me to decide on the specific model. After that, I collected some references and started working on the exterior of the cab, since that’s the first and most easily recognized part of the truck.
Have you modded for any other games?
No I haven’t besides tweaking vehicles in San Andreas, but I have never published those.
What's your favorite SnowRunner mod?
I’m torn between my Trailer Pack and Rng3r’s Zetros. I will have to go with the Zetros though.
If someone could only download one of your mods, which would you suggest?
For now that’s easy, the Trailer Pack.
What would be your dream change or addition to SnowRunner?
As a player, a better engine and gearbox simulation. As a modder, more up to date and exhaustive documentation.
What’s your favorite thing about SnowRunner?
The wide variety of driving environments, from small winding trails to deep mud, snow and ice, all presenting different challenges. This along with the large number of vehicles, ever growing with the help of the modding community, gives this game an incredible replayability.
What advice would you give to people who would like to get into modding?
There is a lot to learn, especially if you set out to make your own model. To start with, I would suggest learning about the modelling software of your choice, there are more tutorials out there than you could even watch. When you have the basics down, start with something relatively simple that has some use in game, like an addon, and take steps from there. Make sure to bookmark the guides on mod.io! I would also suggest joining some of the modding Discord communities, there is a lot of knowledge out there already, and people are happy to help with specific questions.
Working on any exciting mod at the moment?
Yes, for my first truck I have decided on a pair of classic Swedish military trucks from Scania, the SBA 111 (4x4) and SBAT 111 (6x6) that share the same cab. In addition to the standard military equipment like crane, cargo bed and maintainer, surplused units have found civilian uses as wreckers, campers and even some logging use, so there is a lot of use for these trucks in SnowRunner. (Before anyone asks, yes, branded parts will be addons and the main trucks will be console compatible).
What’s your all-time favorite real life vehicle? What about SnowRunner vehicle?
In real life, I never really had an all-time favorite. To be honest I would have a hard time picking a specific model right now. For SnowRunner, I have to choose the Paystar 5070. It’s the first truck I have made a complete fleet out of, and used it for a long time in my first playthrough.
Wildcard Question: You’re allowed one superpower, but it has to be one no one has ever thought of before. What is it?
The ability to know what superpowers no one has ever thought of before. It won’t help me much, but I will be prepared if I ever get this question again.
:l

...you've outsmarted us this time, Olsom.

Check out and play Olsom's mods on mod.io.
If you have questions you'd like to see added to these interviews, feel free to suggest them and we may add them! 🙂

October Community Update
Hello SnowRunners!
Spooktober is coming to an end, and we’re thrilled to announce that we reached 5 million players! We can’t thank you enough for your incredible dedication and support!

We’re absolutely delighted to see the SnowRunner community expanding, with new runners jumping behind the wheel for epic off-road adventures! If you’re new, don’t hesitate to join our official Discord server and ask for advice, you’ll be sure to find a helping hand!

On another note, it was an absolute pleasure to encounter some of you at AUSA 2021! For those who had the opportunity to visit us, we hope you enjoyed driving DeathCoreBoy1’s M917A3 on the special setup that was at your disposal thanks to our partners Thrustmaster and MACK Defense!
What’s next?
First of all, we hope you’re still enjoying Season 5! Please let us know in the comments what feature you like the most in the Don region!

As you may expect, our team is currently fully focused on Season 6: Haul & Hustle! It will take place in the wilderness of Maine, USA, and your main objective will be to establish a new forest base from scratch! In this new winter map, you’ll not only face snow but also mud! The environment won’t be the only thing to make your goal hard to reach, as you’ll start with most of the basic garage functions missing! To help you in your task, an agile forestry vehicle and a powerful 6-wheeler will join your fleet.

In addition, the team is also developing another long requested feature: a photo mode. It will be live on the PTS when you read these lines! Please note that it’s the first version of the photo mode, and as such it’s still under development. Your feedback will be more than welcome to help us improve this new feature!

On top of that, the team is also working on solving various reported bugs. We keep improving the game thanks to your feedback and reports, so once again, thank you so much for your involvement and your dedication!

As for now, we do not have a precise date to communicate for the release of Season 6, so make sure to stay tuned for more info!
Public Test Server
As mentioned above, a new update is now live on the PTS. You can find the complete patch notes here.
Next Gen
As we revealed a few months ago, we’re actively working on porting the game to next gen consoles. Things are evolving in the right direction, but it’s still a bit too soon to share more concrete information with you. We thank you for your patience and your understanding on this matter.
Meet the Modder
We’ve decided to slow down the output of our Meet the Modder interviews a bit, meaning it will no longer be a weekly article, but they’ll still be coming out on an irregular basis. October interviews are available here, with their fair share of interesting and surprising answers:

That’s it for this month's Community Update! Thank you again for your continued feedback and passion!

We’ll see you in the snow.
