Age IV for Best Game You Suck At!

Look, we get it. So you can't tell a Lancer from a Landsknecht. Your villagers are so idle they die of old age before you reach the Feudal Age. and you think a nest of bees is where honey is made!

You're not exactly a master of strategy... But that doesn't mean you aren't having a good time! That's why we're asking for your nomination for Age of Empires IV for the Best Game You Suck At Steam Award, a special trophy bestowed upon a game that is tons of fun to play, even though you're terr— uh, even though you're trying your best!

We want Age of Empires IV to appeal to players of all skill levels: from the grandmasters who've been playing Age games for 20+ years, to the players who couldn't find a sheep even if it spawned right behind their Scout. We’ve taken care to layer in lots of tools to help you enjoy and learn the game, but we all know strategy takes time to develop.

We think Age IV is fun no matter your skill level, and if you agree, it would mean a lot to us if you would click the button above and give us your nomination.

Nominate us for Best Soundtrack!

Age of Empires IV spans the globe, and it’s only right that the soundtrack should too. We are strong believers that music breathes life into games, and if it did for you when playing Age of Empires IV we hope you’ll nominate us for Best Soundtrack for Age of Empires IV at the Steam Awards by clicking the button above!

To bring our game to life, we worked with composers, musicians and voice actors from all over the world to bring you a truly global soundtrack that immersed you in the civilizations you control. That each civilization features unique music, instruments and soundscapes that authentically capture the spirit of their gameplay is part of what makes Age IV so real.

The soundtrack is also highly responsive, advancing with you through the ages and reacting to the action on the map – calm and tranquil while you manage your peaceful farms, turning tense with evolving layers when the clouds of war stain the horizon. Additionally, as a civilization progresses through the ages, so too does its audio. Music scores become more refined seeing additional instruments and new techniques layered in, with in-game unit dialogue mirroring this evolution and approaching a more modern form of speaking.

As you have your say on how the games of 2021 compare, we hope you’ll consider Age IV’s music worthy of the Best Soundtrack trophy – and we’d also love your support in the Game of the Year as well!

Age of Empires 4 will get some fan-requested features in the next patch

Historical real-time strategy game Age of Empires IV will get a major patch next week, and it'll be adding some of the features fans have been clamoring for the most since its release date earlier this month. In addition to the updates teased in the roadmap published last week, we'll be seeing improvements to the mini-map and some new options for during and after matches.

As you might expect, the Age 4 Winter Update will be making some balance changes to the RTS game. The French Hulk ship will be brought down a couple notches to keep it from dominating naval warfare. Cavalry will be more vulnerable to crossbowmen (both standard and elite) and spearmen. The devs have also fixed the Holy Roman Empire's prelate so that it can continue to inspire nearby units even after being pushed a bit. The Mongols are getting an adjustment to the 'superior mobility' trait so that the speed modifier "is appropriately applied" from now on.

The developers are also adding some requested UI features, such as placing the Chinese Dynasty button in a less prominent location down in the lower left corner of the screen. You'll also have the option to enable an in-game score screen - the devs say this can impact the say people play, and so it'll be an option you can enable or disable prior to each match.
