Dev Log – January

Greetings Cultists!

Here is our monthly update to provide you with inside information on what has been happening in the development of Desolatium!

January has been a crazy month! We’ve been a part of The Big Adventure Event and many streamers and people played and tested the demo. They have given us a lot of feedback to implement in the development in order to improve the experience, so we have focused on that.

Apart from it, our great artist, programmer and creative devs continued non-stop with the game development of Desolatium. Here are the main things to highlight from this first month of the year:

- We’ve finished all the graphic material from chapters 4, 5 and 6: notes, titles, descriptions, objetcs…

- Also some of the 3D objects from chapter 6 have been made, meet this Dagon!

- Color grading all chapter 6 images.

- Mask men is finally ready! Here is the concept art vs 3D.

And that wraps it up! Many more things have been done but we don't want to reveal everything now ːsteammockingː

Dev Log - December

Greetings Cultists!

First of all, we hope you’re spending your Christmas holidays in the best possible way! We wish you a Happy New Year, we are sure that 2022 will bring us many good things, one of them will be Desolatium!

We wanted to end the year with something special, so that’s why we released a new demo which you all are now able to play.

But apart from the demo, we’ve been working hand-in-hand with our ghouls to keep developing Desolatium.

You have been gathered here by the old ones to reveal his prophecies! This month we have been working around programming, design and sound further polishing the existing content and adding more.

As the new demo is already out, which means the first two chapters are done, we have been working on the next ones (third and fourth chapter mostly), and this is what we’ve been up to:

PROGRAMMING
- Set up the scenes with inventory elements, advance, triggers, sounds, etc.
- Detail view and puzzles [luminol]

DESIGN
- Characters concept art [Mask men, Idh-yaa]
- Grading 360 images.
- Notes design
- Objects design

LEVEL DESIGN
- Place mobile sound.
- Place objects in the scene.
- Gearch for the location of the guard station.

3D
- Fire scene

SOUND
- VFX sounds: mobile, fire, luminol...
- Create gameplay.

And that wraps it up! We're planning more surprises in the future so make sure that you're up to date by following our socials fore Desolatium related news! Check out our links here: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Discord and our Superlumen Website.

We would be so grateful if you would also wishlist us on steam if you haven't already!

New Demo available!

Dear cultists,

Christmas is almost here so we have an early present: There’s a new demo of DESOLATIUM available to play on PC!

You can take a sneak peak and play the first two chapters of DESOLATIUM as a demo, so you can really start to immerse yourself in the story. Put yourself in the shoes of two of the main characters: Carter and Sophie.

You will see how the story of Desolatium: Prologue continues thousands of years after, so if you have already played you will recognize some character… if not, we recommend you to play it before the demo!

As many things have changed since the beginning, we wanted to show you how the development is really going and how we have implemented the new identity into the game.

This is what you will find in the final game, so we hope you enjoy it as much as we are enjoying its development!

We’re looking forward to reading your feedback about the demo, so everything you think about it, drop it here! (You can be cruel, but remember that Cthulhu is on our side).

It’s time to enjoy this little piece of cosmic horror!

See you in Carcossa,
Best,
Superlumen Team.
