DEVLOG #10 | RIESE COMPLEX
Hello and Welcome!
Today, the continuation of the last devlog and we will briefly introduce you to the history of the Riese Complex.

History of the "RIESE" complex
From 1943, in the area of โโthe Owl Mountains, the Germans carried out large-scale and grand-scale construction works under the common code name "Riese" (Giant). However, the construction was never completed, leaving behind a series of unfinished underground complexes.

The construction of "RIESE"
During World War II, mining and construction works were started on an unprecedented scale in the north-western part of the Owl Mountains. The construction of several complexes began in 1943, although design work could have been carried out earlier. At the beginning of the construction works, the general contractor was specially created for this purpose, which was a company of Schlesische Industriegemeinschaft AG. Before mining works began, preparatory works related to the preparation of the site and infrastructure for the construction of the complex had begun.

The legend of "RIESE"
Work on the construction of the Riese Complex was carried out almost until the last days of the war. Shortly before the arrival of the Red Army troops, the unfinished basement was abandoned. In the forests of the Owl Mountains, countless building materials, cement bags, aggregates, cables, as well as the foundations of unfinished ground structures have also been left behind. The biggest puzzle related to the Riese Complex concerns its purpose. The construction is well documented as it appears in documents and post-war accounts of construction witnesses. Nevertheless, there are other hypotheses about Riese's destiny as well. Some historical scholars talk about arms factories, others about secret underground laboratories.
However, the construction was never completed, only empty tunnels remained, which are now a tourist attraction.
