Hello fellow monkeys.
I know, I know. You will start “bUt YoU SaId EvErY fRiDaY”, true, I did say that. But then Christmas happened, and vacations happened, and nothing really happened, so I did not thought that a devlog was useful. But this week, so much happened that we needed to come back.
But sorry for the delay and let’s do this.

Soooo… The news.
First of all we will need to postpone the beta test that would happen next week to the 29th of January.
The change in date is because our monkeys are finding difficult to type in a keyboard and the following reasons:
- We are experiencing several issues with the Unreal Engine 4.26:
- First we had the following problem
- Cannot create SoftObjectPath with short package name 'NoneNone'! You must pass in fully qualified package names
- The solution I achieved was to edit the Engine file (“SoftObjectPath.cpp”) and change the 72 Line
- if (Path.IsEmpty() || Path.Equals(TEXT("None"), ESearchCase::CaseSensitive) || Path.Equals(TEXT("NoneNone"), ESearchCase::CaseSensitive))
-
Second, this error we are still experiencing and we cannot package a new build for you guys. (If you know how to correct please help us out, as we are out of ideas)
- UEdGraphPin::BreakLinkTo Pin 'In' on node 'Unknown' not reciprocally linked with pin 'Out' on node 'Mesh'
- We fully changed the concept we had for the menus:
In retrospective we think that they were too close to other games like Fall Guys and we wanted ours to feel, well…, ours.
So in the following images you can see some concepts we thought about, the idea was to go 3D with it and integrate the buttons on the environment,

These ideas were also scrapped after we were incapable of producing cute and kawaii bananas.
Yep, our awesome team could only produce high quality bananas that weren’t on the correct vibe of the game.

Like these bananas, what is going on with them.
So in the end we went with a more traditional and simple menu. We used normal 2d images for it. It is still in production but you can see here some concepts for the buttons.

We are also introducing, *play the drums*
A Settings Menu, so you can change the resolution and other graphical settings, YEAHHHHH, so innovative.
We are also reworking the number of menus. So now after you click on host a game you will be sent to a new menu where you can define different settings for the game, like the number of objects and the map.
Isn’t that exicting?
Other than this there weren’t any new features added to the game.
We have been working more on correcting bugs and code improvements so it is a more fluid experience for you guys.
We are closely working with the community on our
discord. Right now we are trying to decide with everyone the name of our “stalker monkey” if you want to help just go there and talk with us.
Nerd Monkeys also created a subreddit where you can go and post about anything, okay, not about ANYTHING, but you know the drill. (https://www.reddit.com/r/nerdmonkeys/)
And to finalize this testament this is what we want for our next build:
- A kawaii and functional menu.
- The skybox, that ugly thing, we hope it will be fixed.
- Less bugs.
- Less crashes.
- More fun.
And that’s it, anything hit me on discord on the #monkey-split, I am there 25/7 as a slave monkey.
Hope everyone is okay and stay safe, hope to see you on the next devlog.
