The Inspector @Tiny Teams Festival 2022!


It's been a while, but don't worry, the development is proceeding well!

A lot of stuff going on in the past months, let's check together:

[h2]Tiny Teams[/h2]

The Tiny Teams is a private event on Steam, curated by Yogcast. The payoff for this event is "Micro Studio, Massive Ideas", which perfectly fits with my game! I'm excited to be selected to participate in it!
The event starts on Monday and, for a week-long, the demo will be back, looking forward to your feedback.

[h2]Color of Indie[/h2]

Color of Indie is a new Tik Tok event where you can showcase your Indie game. Is curated by the creator of Lost Ember. It was a super fun experience, we reach the final stage, but we didn't get the podium!

[h2]LappiSoft[/h2]

I reached a point that the game lacks in some main points: save system, optimization, and marketing. I decided to ask for some help. Max, from LappiSoft, is the right person to assist me on this path. With his experience, we can reach a more polished final product, without losing the status of Indie Dev.

[h2]Game Mechanics[/h2]
While the core game is the same, there are some new elements that slightly change the game experience.

[h3]Tutorial Screens[/h3]

A series of panels will guide you discovering the main aspects of the game. One of the main issues with the last demo was understanding how the world of "The Inspector" works. I think, thanks to these screens, I fix partially the problem.

[h3]Binocular[/h3]

The Inspector is a small exploration game. You need to find the memories to wake up your patients. But what happens if discovering memories is frustrating? I work on that and decided to insert special equipment, the binoculars, that helps you to recognize the memory's position.

[h3]Beacons[/h3]

If finding memories were too hard, finding and deactivating beacons was too easy! So I work also on that. Now, prior to shutdown a beacon, you need to answer a specific question. You can answer to this question only if you have found the related memories. This thing prevents players from shutdown all the beacons before finding memories.

The Inspector is a finalist in the #PitchYaGame Awards 2021!

Just WOW.
The news arrived from nowhere. I suddenly received a Twitter notification on my smartphone and... BOOM! The Inspector was selected as Finalist for the #PitchYaGame!

With over 1500 participants in this session, I can say that being on the first fourteen, is mind-blowing!

But now, the time for celebration is over, and I need to come back on fixing the game!

During this long week, I received tons of feedback and some of you have made some precious video footage, giving me hints to understand where the major issues with the game are.

Overall this Steam Next Fest was amazing! I'm impressed by the result!

- 1062 new wishlist (steam)

- 360 unique users have played the demo

- over 500 joined during stream!


[h3]The main problems that the community has found are:[/h3]

- Pixel graphic. Someone loves it, others really hate it. (there is one guy that asked me if his graphic card is broken...). ACTION ---> pixel graphics should be an option.

- Performance. If the game doesn't run on smooth 60 fps on a potato, people generally tend to think your product is crap. ACTION ---> I need to optimize as much as I can the game!

- PMF. The last portion of the game, where you need to use the PMF, wants really clear. People struggled to understand how it work. ACTION ---> tutorial revamp

The PMF and the Inspector's Handbook


During the Steam Fest, I notice some people struggling with the use of the PMF.
I understand that the tutorial is not clear enough and I'm already working on that. For the moment, I have made a guide for you, to help in the use of this instrument.

How to summon a hat (without Harry Potter)

I didn't expect so much feedback in this Demo! This time I need to thanks the user doberhansley that found this fabulous bug, where you were able to summon a Hat anytime you pressed X on your controller!
