Moving to a new Steam page

TL;DR

  • Soon this Steam store page is going to be closed
  • Zero Losses is relocating to a new Steam store page. Please remove this page from your wishlist and follow the new one for exciting updates and a potential closed playtest announcement (hint, hint – it's coming soon and will be shared on the new page and our Discord server).

Why Are We Making the Move?

In Brief: This page is technically against Steam's rules.

Here's the backstory: This page was originally created for a different project that was canceled, and you might still stumble upon its remnants somewhere deep within the Steam platform if you're an avid digger. For at least a year, the page lay dormant and forgotten, with only a few hundred wishlists and zero activity.

Year and half ago, one month after Ukraine was invaded by russia, when we've started developing Zero Losses, we have soon received an invitation to participate in the Future Games Fest 2022 Games from Ukraine section. This was a golden opportunity to showcase our game to a larger audience, especially during these challenging times. There was just one hitch – we didn't have a Steam page ready for our big announcement.

In a rush, we started creating the store page, but we only managed to gather the necessary materials a few days before the announcement. We weren't certain that Steam would approve a new page in time (as it sometimes can take weeks), so we decided to use the existing one. To be honest, there was also a financial consideration – I didn't want to spend another $100 for a new page at that time, particularly since Steam had initially refused to provide revenue sharing to Ukrainian developers at the beginning of the war (this was solved at the times of the announcement, but it left a bad taste in the mouth).

Technically, this (using a page of existing product for a new one) violates Steam rules, but we thought we could slip under the radar, being a small fish in the vast ocean of games and being sure no one really cares about a small page of unknown project being reused. It turned out the Steam does care, and they've asked us to create a new page. They're within their rights to do so, and I don't hold it against them.

Creating a new page wasn't our top priority in game development, as we had many other pressing matters to attend to - and Steam also had no pressure on us to do it asap. So a year has passed, and now our game now has been wishlisted by 7000 people - a number I can hardly fathom. And the main issue for us by moving from one page to another is to lose all the audience following the project (no, Steam can't help with transfering wishlists from one page to another in case you wonder) and yet we are obligated to do it to avoid any conflicts with the platform in future.

Losing this slowly accumulated audience is a tough pill to swallow, especially with a project that matters a lot of us in terms of it's theme. I hope that at least half of you will catch this announcement and find our new page. It's the price we're paying for creating that rushed page a year ago and the painfully slow process of migrating to a new one, but once again, I accept responsibility for this situation and blame no one but myself. ːisaacː

Peace for all of you and glory to Ukraine!

To other news:

  • Please continue to follow our game as we plan a closed test very soon. Join our Discord server, as we will invite people to closed game test from there.

Alpha Gameplay Trailer / Updated screenshots

Most of you, who don't follow Marevo Collective on Twitter, have probably missed any updates on the development of the game.

Fear not - the project is still in development, and after we've spent a lot of time in 2022 to establish the base of open-world development and dev tools, we come closer to release by creating more and more content during the first half of 2023. And I would like to share some of the progress with you - so, the new Alpha Gameplay trailer was created and uploaded, and store screenshots were updated to match the actual look of the game.
