Carrier Command 2 - Releasing 10th August 2021 at 1600 UTC!

Dear Players,

It is about time! Carrier Command 2 releases in less than 2 weeks on 10th August 2021 at 1600 UTC.

The full release includes Carrier Command 2, Carrier Command 2 VR and the Carrier Command 2 Soundtrack. These 3 are all included together as a single package - we don't expect any player to pay more than once for the same game.

Thank you to everyone who played the demo and gave us feedback! There is much more to see in the full game including over 2000 words of fully voiced storyline, 64 islands over a huge open world, enemy carriers, PvP battles, coop campaign, translations to 8 languages, custom game mode, more attachments, more weapons, higher difficulty islands, and more.

This is a huge milestone and we are so excited to share the full game with you. Join us here before the launch and we will be running a live stream and getting hyped! And in the mean time, expect more info, and updates in the run-up!

Bridge-based strategy game Carrier Command 2 has been ordered to release in August

One of the reasons I’ve been excited about Carrier Command 2, Microprose's first-person bridge command simulator, is because it looked close to being finished when I first came across it. I wanted to play it, and I didn’t want to wait. And I don’t really need to, because it’s going to be coming out in August.

Diegetic war wager Carrier Command 2 will have a VR mode

Just last week, I called Microprose's impressive looking Carrier Command 2 “The most VR game I’ve seen that’s not yet been confirmed for VR.” Well, they’ve made me look quite the fool by announcing that there will be a VR version of the first-person strategy game. Just like the main game, they're sticking you in the cockpit of a carrier with access to its vast array of weapons, but in VR you have to set plans and launch attacks with your wobbly VR pointer.

Announcing VR!

Dear Players,

Carrier Command 2 is coming to VR on Steam!

Carrier Command 2 VR has been created thanks to the many, many players who have been in touch to ask for the VR version. Thank you to all players who have given us feedback.

In the VR edition, you can control all the same systems, vehicles, and controls, from the bridge of the ACC Epsilon Carrier. Use your VR controllers to move and interact with controls, and remote pilot vehicles. Use the holomap with 3D vision. Move around the bridge, use screens, staff the stations, take first person remote control. Play singleplayer, cooperative campaign and PvP multiplayer!

While VR was not originally in our roadmap, the literalism of the diegetic interfaces within the game has made it very easy to introduce VR to Carrier Command - this is the same game, with the same balance and same mechanics! The exciting aspect about this is - CC2 VR will be multiplayer compatible with CC2!

Because Carrier Command 2 and Carrier Command 2 VR are such similar games, we don't expect players to pay twice - we are packaging both together, so when you own one version, you own both.

We had originally suggested a Spring 2021 release, so apologies to all the players we have kept waiting. We are aware that many of you have already been waiting since 1988 for this sequel, and we just wanted to take the extra time to get it right. The release is soon and we plan to announce the release date next week.

Approaching release is a huge milestone for us. We have really enjoyed hearing all your feedback from the alpha versions and the Next Festival, and really enjoyed live-streaming and chatting to players! (More streams soon!). Thank you to everyone who has kindly wishlisted the game. This makes a huge difference to us, and we really appreciate your support.

We are really excited to get the full game in players hands, and there is not long to go! Expect more updates on all the exciting unseen features in the full version, live streams, videos and more in the run up to release!

HighFleet is just the start of Microprose's retro sim revival

There’s more than enough Microprose to go around. Graham has been delighted by Highfleet’s supremely clicky interface, as well he should. It looks excellent. But the resurrected publisher has a few more games coming out in 2021 that are worth tracking as well. I'm keen to play both Carrier Command 2 and Tiny Combat Arena. They’re two throwbacks to the publisher’s polygonal past, but modernised in some really fascinating ways.
