SEARCH/QUESTION:>>WHAT ARE CORPORATIONS?
Since 2084, galaxy-spanning empires have dominated the political and cultural direction of humanity. The organization, mission, and operational ethics of each corporation vary greatly, but they all seek to build a better world through territorial expansion. Habitable territories are divided among the active Corporations. Firms are responsible for the governance, economics, and well-being of corporate citizens living under their administration.
>>HOW MANY CORPORATIONS ARE THERE?
During the colonization of Mars, five entities tried to take control of each other's settlements by offering incentives, spreading propaganda, and taking settlements by force. During the Walking Wars on Earth, many corporations collapsed due to bankruptcy, hostile takeovers, and obsolescence. Since the armistice ended the conflict, both consolidation and acquisition have led to the formation of the three corporations—–FreeCon, Human Purity, and FortEvo—–we have today.
>>WHERE DID CORPORATIONS COME FROM?
At the end of the 21st century, vast areas of the Earth became uninhabitable. Nations weren't able to deal with global problems, so five global corporations stepped up to the challenge. While each firm had a unique vision for humanity, they all agreed that interplanetary settlement was the only logical choice. Acting independently, each sent arks of settlers to Mars to begin the process of colonization. In time, they established footholds and began to thrive. The three corporations that govern the solar system today are descendants of these early pioneering firms.
>>WHAT DO THESE CORPORATIONS REALLY WANT?
I’m sorry, that information is not available.
>>WHAT IS BEING A CORPORATE CITIZEN LIKE?
Corporations govern over 12 billion citizens and 99.57% of habitable zones. Corporate citizens working under an administration are expected to abide by local laws, rules, and traditions. Those who serve their administrations well are given a path to becoming shareholders. However, in outlands such as ██████ and ██████, non-citizens choose to live without corporate sponsorship.
>>WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CORPORATIONS?
Corporations are in competition for land and resources needed to spread their respective ideologies. These opposing points of view on the best course for humanity sparked countless confrontations over the centuries. Of late, rivalries have intensified as resources and habitable zones have become less available.
>>HOW DO CORPORATIONS ENFORCE POLICY?
Corporate policymakers are responsible for upholding the ethics and direction of their respective firms. Instruments of enforcement vary internally from criminal prosecution to job reassignment. Externally, bans on weapons of mass destruction and advanced weapons have relegated conflicts to proxy wars fought between hired mercenaries. The most prevalent are Robot pilots who specialize in this type of warfare.
>>HOW MANY ROBOT PILOTS ARE CONTRACTED BY CORPORATIONS?
I’m sorry, that information is not available.
>>WHY ARE CORPORATIONS ON THE WILD TEN?
FreeCon, Human Purity, and FortEvo all claim resource and settlement rights to various locations across the Wild Ten system. While Diplomatic efforts are ongoing, each has contracted mercenary agents to secure their interests should negotiations fail.
>>WHAT IS SLANG FOR ‘CORPORATIONS’?
Despite many attempts to brand their identities, Corporations are often characterized depending on their style of operation and who is speaking. For example, business-minded firms are commonly called Corpos, while more religious-leaning organizations are referred to as Ministries. Firms that operate more criminally are termed Skippers, and others who are known to be exploitative are called Big Lice.
