Gentle Reminder for laptop players

Gentle Reminder

Thank you for supporting Starlight: Eye of The Storm. We'd like to take the opportunity to remind players who play using their laptops, that you might be using the incorrect gfx card to play Starlight: Eye of the Storm.

As much as one might think that Starlight is 2D game, it still require some juice from the gfx card to render efficiently.

An example would be this:
How to tell which card was used?
Here're the steps. Please do it in the Main Menu.

  1. Press the tilde key. Aka ` key. The key on the left of '1'.
  2. A console will appear.
  3. Type
    showgpuinfo 1
    and press ENTER
  4. Press tilde again to close the console
  5. The graphics card information will appear on the top-left corner.
Conclusion
This is essential as using the integrated graphic cards could potentially reduce the performance of the game by a huge factor.

Thanks!
Jeremy

Workshop Open

Workshop Open

Welcome to the workshop where you'll find user-made assets for the game where you can subscribe to for additional fun.
Early Access
During this early access period, only custom fighters will be made available. This might change to include other assets in the future.

There're achievements associated with creation of your own fighters as well. Therefore, be a ship builder, a craftsman, go build custom fighters with different turrets, angles, and positions. You can also spec your custom ship to be more agile, more offensive or defensive too.
Moderation
From time to time, the workshop will be moderated. Any undesirable items will be removed and banned outright. As much as we do our best to uphold the integrity of everybody's work, we will not tolerate inappropriate works of art such as pornography, realistic gore or political statements.

Starlight: Eye of The Storm shall remain as a game for everyone to play. Please consider the fact that there might be young children playing as well before posting your fighter image. Thank you.
Ownership
The custom fighter shall be under your ownership and therefore under your responsibility. However, since it's in the game's workshop, it'll be subjected to our rules and regulations to be posted here. While we have the right to remove your item if deemed inappropriate, from the workshop, you're free to keep your custom fighter for your own private distribution and use.
Conclusion
We hope to see more players coming forth to upload their masterpiece onto the workshop. In the near future, we might host a Fighter Crafting Competition where winners will win a series of prizes (to be announced) as well.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing your work in the workshop soon!

Regards,
Jeremy

Welcome to Starlight: Eye of The Storm Early Access

Welcome!

Thank you for being an early adopter of Starlight: Eye of The Storm. You're currently playing an early access version of the game and some aspects of the game might not be fully matured or calibrated to give you the best experience.

We seek your patience and understanding as we work towards the full release. Please feel free to offer any feedback, suggestions or even rants - we understand if there's something that frustrates you in the game, we'll like to hear it.
What should you expect over the coming weeks?
As mentioned in the early access message, we'll need roughly 3-4 months to finish up the rest of the game. Over this period, you can expect the following:
  1. New patches/updates
  2. New assets or upgraded assets
  3. Updates on the full release
  4. Full support
  5. Working with you to shape the full release
What's the full release like?
The full release will include a full campaign mode with campaign mission map where you can pick mission to fly.

Unlike arcade mode, the campaign mode will reveal more into the lore and the missions will be more objectives-oriented.

Also, you'll be able to build up different fighters to bring into battle as you'll be able to switch before starting a mission.
More content creation tools?
We're also aiming to include a full campaign editor in the full release - subjected to the primary objectives; the campaign mode being completed first. More information shall follow along the way as updates.
Conclusion
We thank you again for your support! We hope you'll have fun playing Starlight: Eye of The Storm!

Regards,
Jeremy

DEMO 0.72.2 Released!

What's new?

  1. Added a small feature to inform you that your controller has been detected and connected to the game.
  2. Added color scheme to the text when you press ESC to enter the options menu, the input device such as "Keyboard 1", "Joystick 1" will be lit in lime green to signify they're actually connected. If a device is disconnected, it'll appear to be grey-ed out instead.

Bug Fixes

  1. Fixed a bug where joysticks from the SAME MANUFACTURER and MAKE will cross-controls and the player becomes unplayable or loss of function
  2. Fixed a bug where a disconnection from a joystick can potentially cause the demo to unpause even while you're in options menu. This causes the game to run in the background and upon dying a few times, the game returns to the main menu while the options menu is overlayed on top it.
  3. Fixed a bug in full screen exclusive mode where you're unable to properly restore the game until a few seconds. While the restoration may take 3-4 seconds, there's a chance that it might just hang there. Please note that it doesn't apply to full screen WINDOWED mode.

Conclusion

We endeavour to fix bugs and issues or implement new features based on your feedback. We're grateful for your time playing the demo and will look forward to bringing you the game in Early Access soon! (~9 days before launch!)

Thank you and have a great week ahead!

Jeremy

DEMO Patch 0.72.1 Released!

Dear all,

As we near release, patches are accompanied alongside the upcoming early access build so that demo players get the most updated features as much as possible.

New features

- You'll now be able to drag the game window if you're in windowed mode.
- You can also drag across to a 2nd monitor if you wish. But the game will always start in the first monitor.
- Users with monitors having different resolutions and refresh rates may encounter tearing though. However, that can be handled with a change of resolution that supports the refresh frequency.

Changes

- Drift mode now has a slightly longer cooldown period between toggles. It'll now take around 350ms before you can turn on/off drift. This is to prevent accidental toggles by holding on to drift button/key.
- The mouse cursor is context sensitive - while it'll appear ONLY during windowed mode games, it'll disappear once you start firing, moving, or pressing any buttons. This is to avoid a break in immersion.
- The mouse cursor will reappear if you choose to move your mouse.

Bug fixes

- Fixed a major issue with the old joystick API used. Previous joystick API can only detect existing joysticks and is unstable when you plug in a 2nd or 3rd joystick. Best case scenario: Nothing will be detected like some reported in the community, Worst-case? The game crashes not by the fault the game itself.

- Now, you'll be able to plug in, disconnect joysticks at will. The game will also be context-aware and will pause the game at the right time to inform you. This will only happen a joystick that was already bound to a player using it. The game doesn't react if you just plug in and out a joystick.

- Fixed a bug with tutorial where if you skip, the tutorial fighters continue to spawn even during mission 1
- Fixed a bug where a non-playing joystick or keyboard can skip the tutorial.
Conclusion
The early access will also carry these features as mentioned and we look forward to hearing from you and will listen to your suggestions and complaints so as to make Starlight:Eye of The Storm a better game!

Thank You
Jeremy
