Major Update - v0.30

G'day Scrappers! Thank you all for being so patient with this update and all the support is greatly appreciated! Stay awesome all!

After many problems with my system and facing many bugs due to the large amount of change made to this update, I am glad to announce that the v0.30 Update is now available!

PLEASE NOTE: With the system issues I was facing I had reinstalled my OS and had forgotten to backup the patch notes for this update so there may be some Patch Notes missing
Updates to v0.30
• Added Income Multiplier Rewards and the Competition Panel (Within the [Tab] Menu) to showcase and reward past/current competitions and winners. Previous Competition Winners will be able to type 'claim' in the Command Panel (accessed by pressing the Tilde [~] key) to claim their in-game rewards.

 • Upgraded Unity Engine from 2020.3.6f1 to the latest stable/LTS version of 2021.3.3f1.

 • Reworked the Furnace Crucible, to add and remove Materials players will need to interact with the Crucible itself and add materials much like how the Storage Buckets currently work which is a lot more realistic compared to adding the Crucible to the Furnace and then adding materials through the Furnace interface.

 • Reworked the entire Furnace Interface, which now holds all the information in regards to the melting process and still has a means of Igniting the furnace, to add/remove Gas Flow, players will now need to interact with the Gas Bottle Itself.

 • Along with the New Crucible Method players now have the ability to Add 10x 100g Gold/Silver Ingots to the Crucible to make a 1kg Gold/Silver Ingot by dropping the 100g Ingots into the crucible.

 • Reworked and greatly improved the LODs for each E-Waste Object which should be a big performance improvement while having large amounts of E-Waste objects active in the world, also implemented a way of fixing these newly updated items without being left with broken/bugged objects that could only be sold, by replacing the outdated objects with a brand new one.

 • Reworked LODs for Objects inside the Hardware Store Making the transitions less noticeable and look more appealing.

 • Fixed the Bug when going from the Game Scene to the Main Menu Scene, not being able to control the mouse for a brief time.

 • Updated the Silver/Gold Ingot Prices UI in the Scrap Yard Shop and added the ability to hover over the 100g prices to show the 1kg Prices.

 • Increased the value of Iron in Ingot form, while it still remains the same as Raw form, this is to help toward the balance of cost/gain ratio of Iron Ingots in the Smelting Process.

 • Added the ability to press [R] while holding any object to reset the Object's rotation back to default, for ease of item organisation.

 • Extended the Interaction Text UI so it no longer wraps around, making long descriptions etc look cleaner.

 • Added IK Animations to the Pawn Shop and Hardware Store NPCs, which allows them to look at the player without interrupting the normal idle animation for a little more liveliness.

 • Added some Bins and replaced the Old Safe with a higher quality one inside the Scrap Yard building, improving the aesthetic of the shop.

 • Added a another Panel to the Scrap Yard Shop displaying players currently carried materials.

 • Added a 'Bug Box' Collider to the Main Beaker of the Chemistry Set to remove any Chemicals that may be stuck.

 • Removed the Bag Icon while Talking/Interacting with NPC's so the UI Menus do not become bugged or overlap while also removing the ability to press [Tab] while talking to NPCs.

 • Made some improvements to the E-Waste Object Scripts by removing a lot of checks and timers from the Update Function (which Updates 1 time per frame which is 60 times per second if running at 60fps) and added them to a Coroutine which is far more efficient at handling these tasks.

 • Added some see-through green cubes to the Ingot Storage Rack to indicate where you can place Ingots.

 • Fixed the Red and White Barrier Colours and LODs being slightly different.

 • Fixed the Interaction UI disappearing randomly when picking up and dropping objects rapidly while on low/unstable FPS.

 • Added to the Gas Bottle Description in the Hardware Store, providing where to buy refills.

 • Reworked the Object Carrying method so now Objects can no longer phase through other objects while being carried.

 • Fixed being able to pickup objects from a large distance.

 • Fixed the bug where if the Chemical Beaker is saved in it's final state, it properly resets after removing the materials along with this an Error report has been made to easily diagnose the exact state and condition of the beaker for ease of fixing bugs should anymore arise.

 • Added a 'reset_beaker' command so the player has a chance to reset the beaker if it for some reason becomes bugged.

 • Reworked and Reworded the disclaimer that shows on game start-up, due to this change, anyone that has previously selected the 'Do not show this again' option will need to re-accept this new disclaimer.

 • Fixed the issue where the Planes/Helicopters speed would be dependent on the current FPS that the users machine would be pushing out and not based of a fixed time scale (slow if less than 60fps and fast if above 60fps).

 • Reworked the Loading Method which gives your PC brief releases from the loading strain between loading the different Data Segments and shows indicators of where problematic/slow areas are with the Save File, it also looks a lot more pleasant rather than staring at a frozen screen until it's done, this method should also be more efficient at processing the saved data as the game is now requesting small segments of data rather than slamming the entire save file onto users RAM in one go.

 • Also Repeated the same process with the Saving Method as the above Loading Method, which works in the same way and should improve saving times by giving your PC time to breath in-between saving all the different segments of Data.

 • Optimized the Crucible by replacing all the material cubes with a single model, which to combat the now bugged crucible after loading into v0.30 the players crucible will be replaced with a brand new prefab which will be the newly updated one.

 • Added the LED Light Upgrade to the Hardware Store, which is a way to lower your power bills by around 70%.

 • Fixed the Tilde key not working for certain keyboard layouts by making it so the Tilde Key, Back Quote Key and F1 Key can be used to open/close the Command Panel.

 • Changed the 'Parts Box' Text to white to be more easily visible.

 • Fixed some Player UI elements not scaling correctly with Widescreen Aspect Ratios.

 • Made some tweaks to some UI elements that were a bit too small

Creators & Collectors Competition | Steam Community Hub

G'day all!
I am trying out a first for Scrapping Simulator, by hosting a competition for Creators and Collectors in relation to Scrapping Sim.

The premise of the competition is to upload Content to Scrapping Simulators Steam Community Hub (Screenshots, Artwork and or Videos) It could be a Photo/Video of a Fort/Cubby House made from your E-Waste Collection, it could be a nice neatly organized collection of E-Waste, Components and or Ingots, it could be a maze of Objects in your House/Garage or just one big pile of E-Waste filling your entire house.

You can also post Real-Life content in regards to Scrapping Simulator, it could be Real E-Waste Collections or Raw Material Collections etc, or even Ingot Collections.

When posting your submissions only content that is owned by the uploader will be included in the competition, if you are found to have copied a photo from online, or taken someone else's video/photo to claim as your own to attempt to cheat the Competition, your submission(s) will be void from the competition - Voting on your own submission will not be counted toward the overall score - There is no limit to the amount of submissions you make, however if you have 2 winning submissions (IE if you have many submissions in top positions, you will be granted your highest position and your lowest position(s) will be passed on to the next unique player in line to give more people a fair chance) - As for YouTube and other Video Platform submissions, outside the Steam Community Hub, Likes/Comments on the actual video Platform will not be counted toward your overall score, only engagement that is done via the Steam Community Hub, however you are welcome to share your Submission Link(s) on your videos to encourage your Viewers/Followers to vote on your submission.

You are welcome to share your submission link(s) around the Community/Friends and Family to help you gain more points via Likes, Awards and Comments, though please do not Mass Spam people or communities to upvote your content.

Winners will be picked in regards to the most community engagement on Submissions - so it's up to you, the community to choose your favourite content. Scores will be given based on a few variables, Upvotes/Thumbs Ups/Likes will count as 10 Points each, comments will count as 50 points each and Award points will be represented by the amount of Steam Points used to award that player (IE if the Steam Award costs 200 Steam Points, that will add 200 points to the players content submission) and Dislikes or downvotes will not have any affect on the overall score.

The Competition ends on 29/05/2022 @ 11:59pm AEST and winners will be decided the following day(s)

Join our Discord server to get amongst a great little community and Post your Steam Community Submission Link(s) to share your submission(s) with others and gain some more points:
https://discord.gg/Rw5qxNqfBT

The idea behind this competition is to boost community engagement within the Steam Community Hub to try help Scrapping Simulator get out of the 'Steams Limited Profile Phase' which is essentially there to limit Developers from posting the Copy & Paste or Asset Flip games, which I've heard can lower the visibility of the Game in the Steam Store, it also means that achievements earned will not be showcased or displayed on players profiles and we are blocked from creating Trading Cards and Game Items through Steam. I feel that hosting this competition will help Scrapping Simulators exposure in the future while also rewarding the players who helped it get there.
---------PRIZES---------
Everyone that submitted a valid entry will receive a Steam Achievement in-game to show they were apart of the competition + Bonus $400 in-game Cash - Competition winners will receive a DM with a Command that you can enter in-game that will be tied to your Steam Profile, so you can even re-claim your prize after starting a new game, however it can only be claimed once per game-save. everyone involved in the competition will be showcased on a 'Competitions' panel in-game. Competition winners will also have their content showcased in-game under the 'Competitions' Panel which will be released in a later update.
First Place
- Will receive a life-time 2x earnings in Scrapping Simulator + Bonus $2,000 in-game cash and a FREE copy of Scrapping Simulator to give-away to a Friend/Family Member or to claim for yourself if you don't yet have a copy.
Second Place
- Will receive a life-time 1.5x earnings in Scrapping Simulator + Bonus $1,000 in-game cash.
Third Place
- Will receive a life-time 1.25x earnings in Scrapping Simulator + Bonus $750 in-game cash.

Update v0.28.6

Update v0.28.6 Is Live!

Hi there everyone, first off I would like to apologise for my absence lately, a few things have happened in life that have impeded my ability to take a moment and sit down at the computer. After the last Scrapping Simulator update, adding the new fences and a few other things, it seems this update had just increased the Game Engines performance requirements just enough to make it crash when trying to Save and or Build the Project.
During this time, a very close family member, my Grandmother, had been hospitalized and was fighting a very potent blood infection, that had little chance of clearing even with the strongest of antibiotics. After the news from the doctors that we were not going to win this battle, my Grandmother wanted to come home to live the remainder of her life, providing I would be able to care for her and administer medication when any pain would arise, which I had no hesitation in accepting as my Grandmother had dropped everything to support me and keep me off the streets, it's only fair I returned the favour and support her in her time of need and grant her last wish of coming back home.
She had passed away peacefully in her sleep and was not in pain for very long.

I would like to give a big thank you to everyone for your patience and support, which has been a great help in pushing forward with this project and keeping the dream alive.

I understand some of you may be upset that for 2 months of no update and this is all there is to show for it, again I do apologize, but I will always put family first.
I agree that I should have at least given some news about the situation, which I did touch on briefly in the Discord server about the Family and Hardware situation.

All that aside here are the Patch notes for the v0.28.6 Update
Patch notes:
• Reworked the Ingot Shelf Saving and Loading Method by Manually saving each individual Ingot Value of the 3 different Shelves which does slow down the Saving/Loading Process, but ensures that there is little chance that data will be lost.

 • Fixed the bug where Ingots would randomly change their size when being added and removed from the Shelves and or Carry box.

 • Introduced the 100g Silver Ingot to the Game, which to create is a similar process to the current Gold Refining Method and you will be able to Add either Raw Silver or Raw Gold to the Beaker to begin the process.

 • Fixed the Floating LCD TV Sale Object in the Pawn Shop.

 • Fixed the Ingot Duping bug in the Chemical Refining Process.

 • Fixed the position of the Disassembly Tips so they are no longer overlapping the Key Text and Bag Icon.

 • Fixed the bug where eWaste would stop spawning on the streets after some time playing, it was found that old code was stopping timers when the RNG would land on bins that have eWaste Spawns disabled, the script now has 3 chances to roll a bin that can spawn eWaste otherwise it just starts the Randomization process again rather than stopping all together.

 • Fixed the 'Current Score' and 'Best Score' being out of sync by one action on the Mine Sweepin' Mini Game.

 • Fixed the Chemical Drying Bug where if you Saved the Game while Gold/Silver is Drying, it would get stuck drying.

 • Added an Achievement for winning a game of Mine Sweepin'.

 • Fixed Server Motherboard Child Error, which was found to be the Randomly Generated RAM Selection becoming corrupt after saving/loading thus the MOBO was thinking the RAM has not been removed.

 • Fixed the Server RAM Animations not playing whilst disassembling.

 • Fixed the Command Panel not activating since changing to the Tilde Key and made it so upon opening the Command Panel it now Pauses the Game.

 • Added an [X] button and the ability for [ESC] to close the Command Panel.

 • Made it so you can no longer open your inventory while sitting at the computer, this is to avoid getting stuck in 'busy' mode after closing the inventory panel while sitting.

 • Renamed 'Toxic Waste' on the PC Market and Scrap Yard to be called 'Chemical Waste' to be more easily recognisable.

 • Fixed the PC RAM having a similar bug to the Server RAM, by Manually saving and loading the individual Randomized RAM Types and Values and put a delay on the start-up of the Randomization Script so it doesn't re-randomize before all Data has been loaded and applied.

 • Fixed the bug with the Chemical Refining Set allowing you to skip steps by enabling/disabling the Agitation Pump.

 • Made it so the 'DefectGaming' logo does not play if coming from the Game to the Main Menu, only when the game is initially booted up.
Patch v0.28.5-1 Notes:
• Fixed the Trolley Spawning stuck inside the Hardware Store Wall upon purchasing.

 • Updated the Controls page for new controls and key binds, and tidied the panel up a bit.

 • Made all Bounds Colliders 'Ignore Raycasts' which means if any item gets wedged outside the playable area and doesn't fall down to the Bug Box Collection Colliders, you at least have a chance to pick it back up again

 • Removed the Colliders from the Barriers around the map, as Bound Colliders are more optimized and a lot less of them.
Patch notes:
• Fixed the Billing system sometimes initiating 2 bills at a time, by adding a delay to the initialization of the billing cycle on game start-up.

 • Fixed the typo in the 'new email' notification.

 • Updated the Pawn Shop Sign for the Sale Area.

 • Overhauled the way Ingots are added to the Scrap Yard Ingot Area, the Shop Panel also no longer flickers on/off while adding Ingots as it now updates all the information at once when the shop is opened, rather than updating each time an Ingot is added.

 • Added some Barriers around the Scrap Yard Ingot Sale Area to help from any ingots falling to inaccessible places.

 • Overhauled some aesthetics around the map to make it look less like a prison and more like a residential area, even though I know I said I would not spend time on this map, however I truly despised the way the old map looked and am still not 100% happy with it, but at least its not as much of an eye sore as it was before.

 • Overhauled the way the Hardware Store and Pawn Shop displays information when hovering a buyable object, which is far better optimised than the previous 'on-scene' way of doing it.

 • Added the ability to drop the Ingot Carry Box Into the Scrap Yard Ingot Sale Area to make selling Ingots a little less tedious.

 • Added and Improved many LODs for objects around the Map to improve overall performance.

 • Changed the Key Bind for the Command Panel to the Tilde [~] Key and also added the function to close the command panel by pressing the Tilde key again.

Patch Update v0.28.4

Patch Update v0.28.4 Is Live!

WARNING: POTENTIAL SAVE CORRUPTON UPON UPDATING!

If your Game Save is corrupt 'NEVER' Save your Game in the broken state as this will permanently destroy all potentially recoverable data and will be very hard, if not impossible to fix.

If you have noticed your Save-File has become Corrupted due to the update, please click the link below for a guide on how to minimize the possibility of save corruption, and how to fix it if it does happen to be corrupt.

If you have saved your game on v0.28.4 and then later noticed that things are broken/missing, there is no use in attempting the below fix of returning to the 'previous build' as there is absolutely ZERO backward compatibility when attempting to return to an older version of the game if your Save-File is from a newer version.
In such the case, you can either Send your Save-File to FuryFight3r (the Dev) at an attempt to fix the issues (no promises though) or Continue playing with broken/missing Items, or simply start a fresh game - Please be mindful with Popups in-game warning about the potential of save corruption and always remember, Scrapping Simulator is like no other game, Most Interactable Objects are saved in their EXACT STATE so if an object is broken, your first thought may be, "oh that's fine, Ill just Save and reload" though unfortunately doing this in Scrapping Simulator almost guarantees that the object will now be permanently broken and Saved in it's broken state and along with that, now that the games been reloaded the initial Error Log printed when the Item broke will most certainly be lost, thus making it even more difficult to Find and Fix the problem. Nevertheless almost each and every update patches are being added to slowly chip away at these annoying issues.

I do apologize for the potential Corruption of Save Files, I had made a bit of a mistake on version v0.28 that had gone un-noticed until now with all the eWaste (carriable) RAM Stick Modules and the way about fixing this has caused any Saved RAM Stick to corrupt your Save file. The work around for this is listed in more detail in the GitHub Wiki Guide below, but long story short, you will need to 'opt-in' to the 'previous_version' build for Scrapping Simulator, remove ALL RAM Sticks from your game, whether you Sell them or Scrap them is up to you, Save the game, 'opt-out' of the 'previous_version' build and return to 'none' to be on the latest version and then attempt to load your now fixed Save File.
Patch notes:
• Fixed Aluminium Ingots getting stuck Inside the Ingot Shelf and not being recognised as an Ingot.

 • Added the 'return_ingot_box' Command that returns the Ingot Carry Box to the Bug Box in your bedroom.

 • Changed the UI Name for the 'Aluminum' Ingot to 'Aluminium' in the Scrap Yard Ingot Sale Panel.

 • Repositioned the Warning text for the Ingot Sale UI at the Scrap Yard so it doesn't overlap Ingot Sales.

 • Had another attempt at fixing the Ingot shelf Issues with it getting mixed up with the amount of Ingots that are contained by adjusting the way Ingots are added and removed, I also added a 'reset_shelf' command to reset the ingot shelf, reset the counters for the shelves, release all ingots and temporarily disabled the Shelf to remove any bugged ingots, you can then re-type the 'reset_shelf' command to re-enable the shelf once the bugged ingots have been removed.

 • Added a list to the Command Panel, to show players the current available commands.

 • Added a Scrolling Panel to the Scrap Yard Ingot panel to avoid having Ingot UI's overflowing and overlapping the buttons.

 • Added a fix for removing missing Objects from the Object Reference List, which helps the Saving and Loading System by removing Bugged/Missing Objects.

 • Fixed the issue where the Queue Text would sometimes remain on-screen, by making it so after Finishing/Stopping Disassembly it resets the texts and disables the Queuing UI until you are disassembling again, at least so the text is not permanently stuck, I am still diagnosing why this happens and will then implement a proper fix.

 • Added patch for the Ingot Carry Box, now if you attempt to remove an Ingot from an empty slot, instead of it throwing an error, it notifies that nothing was available in that slot and remove a single value from the Ingot count to move onto the next item.

 • Fixed the RAM Sticks causing the Server Motherboard to become stuck and unable to disassemble and the corruption issues with eWaste RAM Sticks after saving and loading caused by Clashing Reference ID's - Unfortunately this is expected to corrupt all prior Saved Ram Sticks, which may still be able to be sold at the Pawn Shop (Old Saved Server's may still be broken .

 • Added Green and Red Transparent Tiles to the Mine Sweepin Mini-Game, Green representing the points you have collected and red being the Bomb/Mine that was clicked.

 • Made it so the Added Materials Values only display 2 Decimal Values, so the text doesn't go small or overlap.

 • Fixed that if you Click the Bag Icon to close the Inventory Panel it now Reactivates the Character and un-pauses the game.

 • Fixed the 'Best Score' text in the main game of Mine Sweepin, it now updates correctly and shows the stored Best Score.

 • Fixed Aluminium ingots not being able to be sold at the Scrap Yard.

 • Overhauled the Credits UI Panel to provide more useful information and add more credits where due.

 • Overhauled the Game Update Notice UI's presented when the game recognizes it has been updated to a newer version, including potential corruption risks involved with the update.

 • Fixed the Crucible not being detected by the Furnace until the Crucible is removed and re-added after Saving/Loading, by adding a delay to the start-up of the crucible.

 • Fixed CD Drive warnings of Multiple LOD Groups and added LODs to the new inner components of the CD Drive - Which unfortunately may cause unexpected issues with prior saved CD Drives.

 • Fixed buyable object prices at the Pawn Shop, the Prices are now linked to the new Dynamic Price System.

 • Added LODs to the Pawn Shop Sale Objects, slightly improving performance.

 • Fixed the Material Added Icon animations sometimes getting stuck in warped forms while disassembling.

 • Updated 'Junk Items' to the new Inventory Material Adding System.

 • Made it so that if the Stats panel is enabled in the 'Tab' Panel, when enabling the panel the stats are now updated rather than only opening the 'Stats' Tab would update the stats.

 • Fixed the Mine Sweepin game UI Issue and added some new SFX for Clicking, Revealing the Tile and Winning the game.
