My new work: war in warlord's China

You may know that I have been working for months now on my new game about China warlords era.

I am glad to announce that Rise of the White Sun is now available on Steam in early access.

Unlike the Cauldrons of War games you were acustomed to, Rise of the White Sun also depicts political struggles, diplomacy and province management.

Summer patch - Chinese Translation - Bug killing

Bugs that didn't make it through summer


-The Width problem in case of multiple assaults is fixed
When a operation is started many times (when the opponent rolled you back for exemple), it was possible to pick each time a general assault and to increase the front width to ridiculous numbers.
That won't happen anymore.

-Supply paths in the Stalingrad scenario
The supply path were not refreshing often enough and sometimes it was impossible to make staff turn-over or to equip units with tanks even if there was a clear path to the HQ.
This is fixed! Stalingrad awaits you!

-Kharkov kessel in Summer 42
I reworked the Kharkov operation so when it becomes isolated, it clearly turn into an isolated pocket.
You won't have anymore that ridiculous soviet red arrows near Kharkov while you panzers are racing along the Don.

Rise of the White Sun is progressing well




Rise of the White Sun is a strategy game set in the Warlords era (China in the 20's).
I just added a playable scenario to the demo.

This is a fast and quick fighting for Guangxi province between small warlord factions.

I wanted to share with you the content of the last update, a cool video and insights about what I am working on now.

[h2]That Game is devinitively too easy[/h2]
This youtuber stormed Stalingrad and secured a minor victory in his first game.

I wanted to share this video because the youtuber uses some of the tricks that make a winning game in the Cauldrons of War serie.

  • Focus! Don't let you being distracted by side objectives
  • Split in defense! You will be able to hold the front while sending some of the troops elsewhere
  • Move your units from one Army Group to another, to pack punch where it is more needed




[h2]Stalingrad HQ bug fixed[/h2]

-When playing as the soviets, it was impossible to access the troops in the Stalingrad HQ from the map.
==> This is now fixed!



[h2]What am I working on? And What are the projects for 2022?[/h2]

Cauldrons of War Barbarossa will certainly gain that Winter War scenario. No blitzkrieg here, but bitter fightings by sub-zero temperatures.

But most of all: have you ever dreamt of playing as a Chinese Warlord?

Many good things to come in my 2022 main project : Rise of the White Sun.
This time, you won't be only a general, as diplomacy, political plots and Province management will be part of the game.
You will love China in the 1920s!

I am not working alone on this one: "The Visiteur" is my teammate here. As an Asia History lover, he had the idea to make a game about China in the 1920s.



Rise of the White Sun is the deepest political simulator of the Chinese Warlord era.

Play as every significant faction of 1920’s China : the Guomindang, the Chinese Communist Party, the Warlords and even the masters of the underworld - the Green Gang.

December 1926: as the victorious National Revolutionary Army units commanded by Bai Chongxi are approaching Shanghai, CCP and GMD agents are busy planning an uprising. Behind the scenes, high-ranking warlord officers are negotiating a comfortable future for themselves in exchange for betraying their masters while Jiang Jieshi is plotting with the Green Gang to get rid of his communist allies.

This is a time of dishonest plots and brutal action.

It have been a long road, but it is now the time to release this game officially.

What will you find in Cauldrons of War Stalingrad?

From Crimea to Stalingrad and the Caucasus oil fields, you will lead the Axis or the Soviet forces in the bitter fightings of the eastern Front in 1942.

Cauldrons of War - Stalingrad is an immersive 'command at the highest level' wargame with tough decisions to make.
Its clean mechanics and low complexity allows the game to focus on what is really important : strategical decisions.
There is no micromanagement here, but more depth than you imagine.

[h2]Play the main operations in 1942 on the eastern Front :[/h2]
As the German, will you grasp the Baku oilfields ? As the Soviet, will you trap a whole German army near Stalingrad ?

[h2]Play fast and often [/h2]: you don't need a 100+ hours investment in a monster game. Some scenarios can be played in 1 or 2 hour. But don't worry, the game contains several scenarios and is challenging enough to keep you entertained for a long time.

[h2]Play against the AI or against your friends[/h2] : with a hot seat mode and a Play By Email Mode

Cauldrons of War - Stalingrad is the second opus of the "Cauldrons series".
If ever you have played Cauldrons of War - Barbarsossa, you won't be disoriented, but you will notice some improvements here and there.

I am sure you will particulary enjoy the Stalingrad City scenario.
Unlike the other scenarios at Army group level, you will command here companies in the hell of Stalingrad.

What is next?

Players are still making interesting feedbacks and proposals, so even if I declared the game finished, you can expect some nice patch from time to time.

I have tons of materials about the battle for the city of Stalingrad. In fact, far too much material to be put in that game. It is reasonible to expect in the futur some pure urban battle spin-off with the whole battle for the city at company scale (That will requier a whole year of development at first guessing)
