News and approaching discount
Discount coming soon! (Aug 24) Get ready, because you'll be needed in Eupherea this month.

Before you buy the game, please try the free demo! You can play 1/3 of the game for free. This is an important step, because in this way, you can make sure TH gives you what you expect without risking anything. Thank you.

Also, consider buying the BUNDLE that consists of 3 games. In addition to Tortured Hearts, there's a great shopping game set in the 1930s and a nice anime-style adventure/hidden object game as well.

In general, please support the indie developers of the world by purchasing their artwork.
Some news:
In the last few weeks, I've been working a bit more seriously on the TH sequel.
The preparation of this project is encouraging because
1. I have a finished, now virtually bug-free system (it was not easy to put together on my own)
2. No language versions are planned, it will be English only
3. I have a lot of usable assets at my disposal
4. Now I have a lot of experience in building complex role-playing systems and managing the whole process. Regarding the One Man Army approach.

The sequel will be set mainly in Sylfeung, the previously inaccessible city and will cover a larger area than Tornbarrow. The default setting of the story is that you are not an adventurer (nor were you at the start of the second module), a title you will achieve later, when you have completely disrupted the local adventuring community and have become so involved in world events, perhaps unconsciously, that it is beginning to upset certain people.
Some locations in the sequel will take you back to previously unseen locations from the TH1 module, so you can visit a number of interesting (and dangerous) sites around Pikedale, and find out exactly what has happened to the town since the first big adventure. In addition, those more familiar with the world of Eupherea know that the fall of Pikedale was largely due to the invasion of the Cape Crestians.
All in all, we can continue on to Cape Crest and stir up the local stagnant water with our unusual presence.

What have I done so far?
-Imported and prepared tons of new assets into the project (this is an amazingly slow and meticulous process)
-New Main Screen
-New human protagonist models
-New archetypes are selectable (paladin, druid, necromancer, summoner) Their combat activities are not yet done.
-Deities are selectable
-Built 6 small areas
-Started 2 big areas, one of them is about 80%, the other one is about 20%
-Wrote about 20 k words of conversation. These NPCs are not scripted yet.

As a reminder: it's not just programming, it's brain storming with myself, writing, scripting, area building, asset browsing, shopping, importing, processing, setup, version control, PR, testing and so on.

With games of this size, even the smallest task can become a huge burden.

Please read the pdf document attached on the Shop page. Also, study the in-game help, it has tons of information about the game.
If you are stuck, either me or other players will help you. Feel free to ask any question.
You can find a very spoilerish description about the first third of the game here (read it only if you are hopelessly stuck)

If you're a new player, here are 2 very important things you should keep in mind:

-In order to invoke a tooltip, you'll have to keep left shift pressed while the cursor is over the target. Items, buttons and even buff/debuff icons at the top of the screen have a tooltip.

-Keeping Space pressed highlights interactives around you. Items, placeables, friendly or neutral creatures will have a blue marker, enemies will have a red one.

------

The game is non-linear to the extreme. This means, there is no set path for your character. Basically you can go wherever you want (with a few so-called choke points). This, of course, has its downsides because you can stumble upon enemies or skill checks too difficult for your current character. Don't fret though, the game offers plenty of other things to do (combatless questing, exploration, crafting, finding lore, fun conversations) until you become more capable. It's always a good idea to stock up on good equipment and potions before engaging enemies. Companions are super helpful on many levels.
