Hi, everyone. Welcome to another week's developer's diary.
The main story continues. But as mentioned before. I am not going to go into any specific details to avoid spoilers. So, just some screenshots.
Pretty much this is just a continuation from last week's Resident Evil 9 memes.
Well, even though you get cut off from the rest of the open world in this part of the story, you get a forward base for your operation here. Captain Nameless has brought you reinforcements. You can switch in/out some teammates. You can use the Phoenician's mercenary (customized teammates) services. You can use the Caretaker's pet services. You can use the 3D printer. You can get free healing and purchase some supplies. You can talk to others to know what is going on around the world.
Yekaterina's force serves a convenience here. In a situation of a potential end-of-the-world scenario, you can't expect other factions to just stay idle. They are also involved. Even though most of them are fighting the Nise forces just to gain access. It also gives a story reason why new paths of this cave dynamically open up.
Of course, there are some other factions that get in.
And your friendly neighborhood demon takes the role to do some trash talk here and there, as always.
Now, other than the main story. There is also some content for everyone.
For example, you can now meditate with a Buddha Trump

Well, at first, I just want to add a song about Miyamoto Musashi's Dokkodo because some people use it in the game's boombox as background music for all kinds of strange purposes. This is for meditation. Then, somehow, someone suggested we should have an animation for this as well. So, we got the Buddha Trump animation. That's just one of those goofy things that may randomly appear in this game's updates.
There can be more such things.
Oh, well. This is one way to counter some of those Abaddon's wraith demons.
Alright, put silly things aside. It's time to introduce the President of the Nise Federation as we move on in the story.
Yes, the girl in the title image of this update is the President of the Nise Federation.
The leader represents the face of a nation. Thus, I'm pretty sure many people prefer a gorgeous or handsome face to someone who always looks tired and can fall asleep anytime. On the other hand, in a democracy, a candidate with more charisma and an attractive appearance is more likely to be elected. Just like Nepal, they just elected a rapper as their new president. The Nise Federation, on the table, is still a democracy (even though we know the true power is seized by a secret council). Thus, naturally, she is a suitable choice (a young doll is also easier to control in the eyes of those elders in shadow). I can write an entire paper about things like the Halo Effect. But let's stop here right now. There is something more than her appearance.
Here is where some puppetmaster's original plot to make her a powerless figurehead fails.

The golden veins on her uniform are a symbol of heritage and bloodline.
There is a plot behind another plot.
Thus, in the upcoming showdown, she will play an important role.
A bit behind the scenes of the development of her art assets.
To bring her to life, I combined the force of 2 different character modeling tools for the first time and made them work. And both of them can now work for UE5 in the future. To make her design more distinctive, AI-based texture techniques have also been experimented with and proved successful. (Even though it took a while.) Anyway, I think the result is satisfying. I hope you can find a like satisfaction in her upcoming story.
That's for this week. Next, we shall go even deeper into the North Peak and find more answers buried in a long-forgotten history.
