Hi, everyone. Welcome to another week's developer diary.
This week, the story on the third floor of Ardham Hotel continues. As we approach major plot points, this diary is designed to avoid major spoilers. Let's get started.
March 12, 1933, Oslo, Norway
In the shadow of the Great Depression, with rising unemployment and collapsing exports, a veteran who volunteered in World War I alongside German forces in auxiliary roles raised his popularity, promising to protect struggling farmers, defend tradition and order, and serve as a bulwark against Bolshevism.
After Hitler emerged as the chancellor of Germany merely 2 months ago, the Foundation could not afford to lose another nation under its influence in Europe.
UPEX0000, by its nature, is always a perfect tool for political assassination.
Yet things quickly got out of control.
Few people know how the incident was contained.
But, a month later. The essay <> was published.
Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, another version of the essay captures what really happened.
A few months ago, Ardham Hotel, Queensmouth
The entire third floor is to contain one anomaly. UPEP6668.
Yet, under the scientific pursuit and to live up to his role as the lead scientist, Dr. Thomric Rehnquist flew too close to the sun. The girl appeared in his dream.
Just like the antlers of elk, just like the consciousness of mankind, a self-destruction prophecy once more.
"You see… so many people live exhausted lives, carrying burdens they never asked for. Shackled by society, by expectations that aren’t truly theirs. Why? I gave him rest. In dreams, he can have everything he ever wanted. In dreams, he becomes something greater—something bound to that vision. And dreams… they don’t fade. Dreams are eternal, beautiful. In a way, this is Heaven."
Now, Ardham Hotel, Queensmouth
Ignoring Mephisto's warning, you decided to venture deeper, seeking ultimate meaning, infinite understanding, and fulfillment beyond the boundaries of your previous "normal" life, just like Faust.
Defeating the fallen doctor, you gained access to Room 304.
However, without containing the girl's power first, approaching is lethal.
The generator must be repaired. The reality anchor must be activated.
Yet, is she someone you would expect?
Mephisto questions her affiliation in the Cold War between Heaven and Hell.
"I'm not a traitor, I was never on your side."
Or could this be another deception? After all, she is hiding her true identity behind a name that keeps reminding her of a Florence diplomat.
But naturally, a demon girl of sleeping, dreaming, and laziness certainly does not like "woke" people.
This is just a random example from her many dialogues.
Yet, even with her laziness, she wasted no time in asking you to replace those compromised Foundation agents as her new room service. Beneath the goofy facet, you may one day know why she can still be one of the most powerful demons. By improving your relationship with her, she may be more willing to give you answers.
Such is the story of this week. Her story will continue. However, as the primary focus is still on the North Peak, other demons shall also have their chance to make their appearance.
