AK-47 and M249 can now shoot multiple targets in FPS mode. (Thanks to FBD192E's suggestion. I want to do that, too. But, sometimes lack motivation. :P )
Their description has been updated to reflect this change.
Their base weapon power and ammo capacity have been reduced a bit to balance the change. (They are still overpowered.)

DD #47 The Update Continues

Hi everyone. Welcome to another's developer's diary.
We already got one for this week because of the early access release.

However, that one was more like an announcement that covers little about what's new in the game this week.

Although as I had to do some publishing works this week because of the early access release, such as making a new trailer of the game, the development speed got slowed down a bit, there is still some progress that has been made.

Anyway, let's start with the story content part of this week's update.
First, we got 2 documents about Anomaly UPEP3002 added to the "Containment Breach" quest to review some disturbing background stories about a girl and an unethical experiment. That's also the origin of all the vampires in Site Demeter. I use the term "UPEP3002 " here to avoid the spoiler of UPEP3002's identity.
And then, I saw something quite illogical in real life when I visited a hospital a few days ago. Thus, I took note and implemented it as a very short story in Liu's hospital. It's just there to mock another absurdity in life.

Next, there is some quality of life improvement based on the feedback I received from early access.
Battle experience has nothing to do with the battle difficulty setting anymore so that even the lowest battle difficulty can enjoy the same level progression speed as higher difficulty.
When selecting a character to pick a lock or hack a computer, their related life skill level and level up progress shall be shown in the selection window so that we can have a better idea about who to send to do the skill check.
The flow of the Blackjack mini-game is also improved to make it smoother and more enjoyable.

Meanwhile, the alternative art style versions of the game are also updated to version 20211206 right before the early access release so that their content will not have too much different from the main version of the game.

That's for this week. It's a bit chaotic as I need to work on both developing and publishing. Still, the updates shall continue as usual.


Today's changelog:

Added some medical supplies in the doctor's room of Liu's hospital. However, the doctor will stop you from taking any of those before you have a conversation with him for the first time.
Added a chest in that room with a very short story. (It's something I saw in a hospital a few days ago. It's not an anomaly. It's just human stupidity.)
Plastic Explosives are now available to be purchased in the Bazaar so that almost all lock-picking mini-games can be bypassed. (It's still a relatively more expansive solution.)
Shade may now also spawn in the sewer of Liu after a certain point of the main story.
Added sound effects when climbing up/down the ladder at the entrance of Liu's sewer.

When choosing a teammate to do a lock-picking or hacking skill check, the UI will now display their related life skill level instead of their combat stats.
It shall also display the level-up progression bar of this life skill so that we can decide who to send to gain the life skill experience from the skill check, especially when we do not really care if they will succeed

Battle difficulty setting no longer affects the amount of experience that can be gained from the battle. (It still affects the item drop rate.)
[Blackjack] Added a space between the text of the affected amount of currency and the currency name in the pop-up that appears when win/lose in the Blackjack mini-game.
[Blackjack] The cancel key, such as ESC and right mouse button, can now also skip the result pop-up of the Blackjack mini-game. (Previously, it only takes input from a confirm key.)

[Blackjack] Fixed a missing sound effect when dismissing the result popup.
[Blackjack] Fixed a bug that even when the result popup appears, the mouse can still somehow control the command window.

DD#46 The Early Access Release

Hi, everyone.
After quite a few months, hundreds of updates, we are finally here at the early access.
First, let's start with an early access release trailer.

It may not be a great trailer. But, at least, we are getting somewhere.

The development is not all that smooth.
The engine is old. It has its limitations.
The life sometimes kicks in, requiring my attention elsewhere.

But, I choose to make this game with this ancient engine and do almost all the things all by myself, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because the project carries over a promise from 17 years ago; because there are memories I am unwilling to let go.

RMXP is the first game engine in my life that I tried to make a large-scale project.
It starts as a fan-game of an online game called Stone Age 17 years ago.
When I was that young, it's almost like I have all the time in the world that I can use to make games.
However, it turns out that's not totally true.
I got carried away with studying, working, and fulfilling others' expectations from time to time.
I am now relatively free from all the boring works, no need to worry too much about money as I learned how to play around in the stock market, and my job as a lawyer pays well.

But, what price have I paid?
Stone Age Online is no more.
The entire RPG Maker community in Mainland China is almost dead.
And the official support of the RMXP engine has been dropped.
I got many friends lost contact. Some of them even passed away.

One day, I was playing Cyberpunk 2077 and heard a song.
I realized maybe I shall not just let things be like that.
Those memories shall not just fade away.
Thus, I packed all the legacy from this old project, replaced all the art/audio assets, wiped the world, and started anew. And, here we are, on Steam.

It's not the most beautiful game on Steam.
It's not the most fun game on Steam.
There are bugs. There are ugly UIs.
There may be compatibility problems on the latest Windows system.
Even the story can go grimdark can make people feel uncomfortable sometimes.

Maybe, It is just an ancient game's final reverberation as it's quite likely nobody will ever make a game with all the crazy features this ancient game engine can achieve. After that, maybe it's the end of an era.

The end of the world may not be a big boom.
Instead, it may simply just be things in life, cease to be remembered.
Maybe one day, we will all be forgotten just like many others.
At least, today is not that day.
For our early access just starts!

I hope, the game is still be something that is enjoyable.
