Hi, everyone, welcome to another week's developer's diary.
Before we start, just in case some of you have not noticed, another big historical event is taking place right now. That is the brave Venezuelan people are rising up to overthrow a dictator who stole their rightful election. During the game's development in the past 20 years, there are many such big moments. And each one of those events we are experiencing today will be the history of tomorrow. Thus, let's take notes of this in this game's eternal history.
As a bonus here, there is now a new cooking recipe in the game.
Well, there is also some other new cooking-related content this week. For example, you can now get ice as cooking ingredients, add some fruit, and use the milk we added last week to make your very own fruit milkshake. Nice drink in summer. At least, I know I want some as the temperature in Shanghai has stayed at around 40 centigrade in the past few days, and it's not very healthy to stay in an air-conditioned room 24/7. :)
Those are just some snacks for this week. Now, let's get to some main courses.
First of all, I am addressing an issue of the game. That is, we need more freedom, and more alternative paths to go to Jiru Island. Otherwise, all those exciting things that are happening right now may be locked out to everyone who has not finished the Dark Elf King's quest. That quest is mostly a monument in memory of the game's 20 years of history. As the story takes place for 20 real-life years, it's relatively long. I don't think that shall be a hard requirement for you to reach Jiru Island. Thus, 2 other ways to reach Jiru Island have been added this week. First, the most straightforward one, you can now just break through the Underwater Checkpoint by force, taking out anyone who wants to stop you. Of course, some certain factions will not be happy with such actions. But, why not? After all, it's you who are playing the game. You shall have the freedom to do so. Another less violent path is to forge a faked document that indicates you are allowed to go to Jiru Island. You can find someone in Katan who can help you with that with a price. That's enough to fool most of the soldiers who come to check your documents. But, eventually, the suspicion may grow. Thus, maybe you still need to consider acquiring a real one later. But, for now, at least, you can go to the island. Some stories and dialogs will change accordingly if you decide to go to Jiru Island via those new relatively easier ways. For example, Tanya will notice what are doing and make comments accordingly.
Meanwhile, the development of Fjordr continues. In the tavern, you can now order a room to do whatever you want inside. It's now also equipped with more useful items and NPCs to make it a good frontier base for your further adventure on the island. The town now also has a hospital accessible.
You can learn more about what is happening in this town and get some medical supplies.
Bot the hospital and the tavern have several secret rooms you may sneak into by picking the locks (or blowing up the locks.) There is more behind the normal facet of this relatively peaceful town. For example, there are many soldiers guarding an area of the hospital that you are not supposed to enter.
We will cover more of this in future updates.

I just heard Putin finally blocked YouTube in many parts of Russia. It's a pity that he is still around. I hope if another revolution takes place out there, everyone who enjoys YouTube in Russia will remember this and be on the right side of history. Even those who still refuse to admit Putin's invasion of Ukraine is wrong. It's still not too late for even them to recognize their true enemy is in Moscow before the nation turns into an extra-large-sized North Korea.
One more thing. The game's yearly price adjustment will take place in September, and this is the one-month notice just like the past years. As usual, there will be a sale before the price goes up.
Some exceptions to this tradition are:
1, The price in Ukraine will not increase. It will stay as low as Steam allows all the way to the end and victory!
2, The DLC price will not change as they do not receive daily content updates like the main game. Thus, a price increase is not justified.
