Instead of just one star system, the scenario starts players with a large territory of control, encircling the centre of the galaxy, however the player's reputation will decrease after every turn, so they’ll need to act fast to avoid all-out war with every other faction.

In addition to the new scenario, the content update also introduces a number of quality of life changes and fixes to the game. A full list of changes can be found below…

Changes:
  • Added a New Scenario, At the Center of it All to the game
  • The Happiness system has been updated
  • Hazardous star systems have been added to the map
  • Deep Space Telescope now reveals all Colonies in the Galaxy
  • Added a fail state if the Galaxy doesn't have enough colonies left (due to the player detonating them) for the player to finish the main campaign
  • Added permanent space debris clouds to where units have been destroyed in combat
  • Spacebar now pauses combat
  • Re-selecting language now asks if the game may be restarted immediately
  • Added better support for different screen aspect ratios
  • Battlegroups in combat now display the plan they are following
  • Video tutorials have been updated

Fixes:
  • Fixed a bug where the Tamanin star system Hur would remain "safe zoned" from other factions even after end of the side quest
  • Fixed a bug where an operative could sabotage non-existent fleet
  • Ankhorum side story had a bug where some dialogue options could to lead to unintended encounters
  • Difficulty options would not apply to fleets received from other factions

The Scattered Empires Await Your Command!

Greetings, Directors,

The time has finally come to let you experience the first Content Update for The Pegasus Expedition. And we have listened to your calls, bringing you one of the most requested features - more playable factions. There are four right now, with more coming later on. Choose wisely, Directors, since you will be the one shaping the fate of the whole Pegasus galaxy!

You will not be able to pick a different faction in the narrative campaign, but in the new game mode we are introducing - scenarios. Each scenario is a new way to play The Pegasus Expedition, without the story structure of the main campaign, and lets you experience different situations and settings. Each Content Update will bring a new scenario, and the first one is called Scattered Empires, which is akin to a typical sandbox 4X gameplay - you will start at a random location in the galaxy, with the fleet you picked, and are tasked with constructing 6 Arges Facilities in 6 different colonies.

We are also dealing with some minor issues that needed to be addressed. You can check the full patch notes below. Thank you very much for reporting all the bugs you found, suggesting all the features you'd like to see in the game and for supporting us throughout our Early Access journey.

Scattered Empires Update Coming Soon!

Greetings, Directors!

As we outlined in our Early Access Roadmap, we will soon be releasing the first Content Update for The Pegasus Expedition. It doesn't bring any major changes to the main story campaign (even though we will be squashing multiple bugs with it), the main event of the release is a brand new way to play the game: Scenarios!

A scenario differs from the main story campaign in that it lacks the narrative structure, has different objectives and very different settings. The first scenario we are introducing is called Scattered Empires - it will find your intrepid expedition at a randomized starting location in the Pegasus Galaxy, with the objective to build 6 Arges Facilities in 6 different colonies. All gameplay mechanics and features are of course in place as you know them from the main campaign, you are free to explore, colonize, research and wage war throughout the galaxy as you see fit, in a more traditional sandbox 4X experience. And do not worry, all future improvements and new features will of course apply to all scenarios as well.

That is not all however - unlike in the story campaign, in scenarios you can pick different playable factions. With Scattered Empires, we are introducing the 4 human fleets to choose from, each with varying advantages and disadvantages, significantly affecting your playstyle and gameplay experience. More will come during Early Access, stay tuned!

And since a picture is worth a thousand words, here is 4000 words-worth of screenshots introducing the playable factions coming with Scattered Empires (click to enlarge):

Thank you very much for your support, we are open to any kind of feedback - to let us know what you think about the upcoming update and stay informed about the game, join the Discord server of the developers, Kalla Gameworks, and follow Fulqrum Publishing social accounts, we will be happy to chat with you!
