Trading Cards, Multiplayer, Improvements and Fixes

[h2]Hello Community,[/h2]

We have just released a new update.

[h2]Trading Cards and Badges[/h2]
KeepUp Survival now officially includes its own set of trading cards (up to 10), badges, and additional content such as backgrounds and emojis. These will become available over the next few days. Learn more about trading cards





One of my other games, PURGE - Three vs Blood, has also received these trading cards. Unfortunately, other games from us are currently excluded from these trading cards.

[h2]Lootboxes[/h2]
It has been reported that lootboxes and items were floating in the air. This issue occurred after an update and has now been fixed. The main reason for the floating lootboxes was that the objects, such as furniture, on which the lootboxes were placed were not displaying correctly.

If you notice anything else, please let us know.

[h2]Flashlight[/h2]
After the last update, the headlamp could no longer be used. This issue has now been fixed.

Note: To use the headlamp, you simply need to have a flashlight in your inventory. You can now easily activate the headlamp without holding the flashlight in your hand by pressing the "L" key.

[h2]Multiplayer[/h2]
Multiplayer is back in the store! It was temporarily hidden for new players due to some issues. We're still working on improving stability and the overall experience.

- The transmission in multiplayer has been improved to make the transmissions more stable, but it still needs to be observed whether these improvements remain stable in the long term. Due to a small error, too little bandwidth was allocated to the clients that joined the host, which caused synchronization issues as not enough data could be transferred quickly enough. Additionally, the connection timeout has been increased to prevent the connection to the host from being prematurely interrupted.

- Player names are now displayed above each character. Your own name is hidden during gameplay to avoid obstructing the view of your character. However, a follow-up update is planned, as we discovered a small bug after the release that causes names to display incorrectly.

[h2]Helicopter[/h2]
After the last update, you could no longer land your helicopter on your own platforms. This issue has now been fixed.

[h2]Reload Bug[/h2]
There were two minor reload bugs with major impact. The issue occurred when the player either opened the paraglider or jumped into water while reloading. In both cases, the character would get stuck in a loop, making it impossible to perform any further actions.

[h2]Network Error[/h2]
When connecting to an existing session, the connection may occasionally be lost, resulting in a network error. In such cases, the session you were trying to join could no longer be found. This issue has now been resolved, you should be able to rejoin the session without needing to restart the game.

[h2]General[/h2]
The ESC key now also closes the inventory and the map overview.

[h2]General Fixes[/h2]
Various minor bugs have been fixed to improve overall gameplay experience and stability.

Important Information About the New Update! Controller, Backup, Bug Fixes!

We have just released a new update. Unfortunately, this update is quite extensive as some structural changes have been made.

[h2]Important:[/h2]

With this update, it is necessary to delete certain files. These files cannot simply be overwritten; otherwise, the game will not recognize the changes.

We have integrated a useful tool that can be found under Settings -> Help. There, you can clear the cache and temporary files as well as create savegame backups.

Clearing the cache and temporary files can be helpful if you encounter issues after an update.



Instructions: First, download the latest update (Ver. 1.30.03.25), start the game, go to the settings, and perform the deletion. Then close the game, restart it, and reset your keyboard settings. After that, you can configure your settings as usual.

[h2]Controller Support:[/h2]

Based on frequent requests, we have improved and expanded controller support. You can now rely mostly on the controller and are less dependent on a mouse and keyboard. The keyboard is only required for text input.

The controller progress is currently about 80%, and further updates are needed to complete it.

There is still a minor conflict in the code that slightly restricts menu navigation in the main menu and in-game menu when using a controller. However, you should not experience any issues while playing.

The controller button mappings are displayed in the HUD, partially for the most commonly used inputs under Settings -> Inputs.

Please let us know if anything does not work as expected.



[h2]HUD Icons:[/h2]

The HUD icons have been adjusted for controller use.



[h2]Collisions:[/h2]

After receiving reports about invisible collisions on the map, we conducted a review. It turned out that objects were displayed during development but were not visible to players in the game. This issue has been fixed. Additionally, minor adjustments have been made to trees, objects, and vehicles.

[h2]Languages:[/h2]

Further adjustments have been made in all languages.

[h2]Boats:[/h2]

Following reports that boats were not appearing for the return journey, this issue has been fixed.

[h2]Dynamite:[/h2]

By request, dynamite has been added to the "Tools and Weapons" workbench.

Other requests have not been forgotten and remain on the To-Do list.

[h2]Vehicles:[/h2]

The jeep has received a minor performance adjustment, and both male and female characters now have improved seating positions in vehicles. The issue where vehicles would be thrown around when colliding with trees has also been fixed.

Full controller support (Important)

Due to frequent questions about controller support, I took a lot of time to improve this and enable full controller functionality.

An update will be released soon that will allow for almost complete controller support. Only text input will remain excluded for the time being.

However, I don’t want to rule out the possibility that there might still be small adjustments needed. If something doesn’t work as expected, please let me know so that I can make improvements.

Please note that after the update, you should reset your input settings in the game to ensure the new settings are correctly applied. Afterward, you can make your usual adjustments.

Further steps in case of issues with the input settings will be published in the update news. Sometimes, the input settings are not automatically overwritten, so it may be necessary to manually delete the corresponding file for the game to recognize the new settings.

This message is meant to inform you in advance so that you know what to do. More information will be provided in the upcoming update, which will be released soon.

A New Chapter Begins: A Big Project Unveiled!

I have some exciting news to share with you! First, I want to emphasize that I have always worked as a solo developer on all of my games and have always relied on the support of the community to make everything possible. A huge thank you to all of you!

I continue to primarily work on "KeepUp Survival," but I have also developed smaller games like PURGE - Three vs Blood, BunnyGuys, and Relaxing Simulator. Unfortunately, these small projects haven't gained the recognition I had hoped for, but maybe you’d like to check them out!

"KeepUp Survival" is one of my projects with ups and downs. Despite all the challenges, it continues to move forward. The transition from UE4 to UE5 initially set the development back quite a bit, but thanks to your support, I was able to quickly address the problems that arose. I also want to remind you that updates for "KeepUp Survival" will continue to be released every 2 to 4 weeks as usual, though there may be occasional delays.

[h3]First Insights into Something New![/h3]

Through my experiences on Steam and within the community, the growing competition, and the incredibly difficult task of maintaining visibility, I decided, after much consideration, to develop a game that would push my limits. About a year ago, I started working on "Return: Unknown," and at first, it was hard to believe in the project, even though over 140 users had supported the idea of me sticking to it. After two months, I put it aside because the idea just felt too big, and I feared it wouldn't resonate with the users. As an indie developer, I face challenges that big studios often don’t, and unforeseen events can affect the development process! However, thanks to your feedback and the messages from users in the past months who encouraged me to continue the project, I picked up the development again about four months ago and would like to show you the first insights now!

"Return: Unknown" is one of my biggest and most ambitious projects, and it’s distinctly different from everything I’ve done before. As a huge fan of survival games, I’ve never found a game that offered exactly what I envisioned. Now, I’ve made it my goal to use my personal favorites as inspiration: the movie *I Am Legend* and the games *Tom Clancy's The Division* and *The Forest* – all these elements flow into the development of "Return: Unknown."

With this new development, I aim to exceed my own expectations and create a gaming experience that goes far beyond my original ideas. My goal is to offer an immersive and realistic survival experience that truly captivates the players of "Return: Unknown." The game will differ significantly from "KeepUp Survival" and my other projects – both in terms of gameplay mechanics and overall structure and experience.

In the upcoming teasers, you’ll get your first glimpses of the still very early alpha version. Even though the game is still in its early stages, I want to give you the chance to take a look and hope that you’ll enjoy it!
