It’s time for the next step in the journey of Into The Darkness VR! We're thrilled to introduce Playtest Build 2.0, featuring Sandbox Mode and the first round of improvements based on your feedback.

The highlight of this build is undoubtedly Sandbox Mode! Experiment with spawning items and enemies, and tinker with various tools in a dedicated hangar space. While Sandbox Mode is already packed with fun, this is just the beginning.

But that’s not all—we’re already hard at work on Playtest Build 3.0, the grand finale of the playtests. In this build, you’ll get access to the entire first mission and part of the second from the campaign. This will showcase the near-final quality you can expect at the Early Access launch. While it may take some time to perfect, your feedback will be instrumental in helping us polish the game for release.

Playtests for INTO THE DARKNESS VR continue. Our conclusions for the next build

Hey guys! It's time for a little summary of Playtest Build 1.0.

First off, a huge thank you for the incredible interest in the playtests! Your feedback and gameplay insights have been invaluable, helping us understand exactly where to focus our improvements. We're already working on the first fixes for quick slots and redesigning the bow mechanics to make them more intuitive. Additionally, we're addressing rare errors with certain headsets and expanding support for less popular models.

But wait, there’s more! Since this is Playtest Build 1.0, you know what that means… Playtest Build 2.0 is on the way!

Here’s what you can look forward to in the upcoming release:
  • Sandbox Mode
  • New main menu (more similar to what you will find in the Early Access version)
  • Option to skip the tutorial
  • Updated quick slot system
  • Updated bow

Here’s a sneak peek of our work-in-progress Sandbox Mode! This small video highlights just one of the features in store - the magnetic wall.

And that’s just the start! Sandbox Mode will be packed with interactive attractions: hooks, a grinder, a wrecking ball… and plenty more surprises waiting to be discovered!







We've also prepared a small fix for Playtest Build 1.0. Here's the changelog:
  • Fixed issues where the player may fall through the floor or get stuck in some locations.
  • Resolved audio bug that caused sound to be missing.
  • Fixed compatibility issue with the Rift S, ensuring it works properly.
  • Updated the IK foot positioning for androids to make movements appear more natural.
  • Adjusted arm IK for Frank.
  • Improved behavior of the Android when thrown into snow.
  • Made player height calibration progress more seamless.
  • Updated fall damage calculation for consistency.
  • Reworked Frank’s lower body pose during normal jumps.
  • Enhanced controller positioning for Quest 2/3 for greater accuracy.

Into The Darkness VR: OPEN PLAYTEST AVAILABLE NOW

Hey guys! Kept you waiting, huh?

After several internal changes at the studio and an extended closed playtest of Into The Darkness VR (we told you to join our Discord!), we’re excited to announce that development of the game, co-created by Cosmos Games and 9 lives, is now in full swing.



But wait, some of you are probably wondering what's happening with 9 lives and the recent changes in the studio. The simplest way to explain would be to share the graphic we posted on our social media a few days ago.



It's time to kick off the Into The Darkness VR Open Playtests! You can sign up right now on the game's Steam page and gain instant access!

What can you expect from this version of the game? This is a specially designed build, developed for you to test various gameplay mechanics, performance, and compatibility across different headsets. The available level is a modified version from the game, stripped of any story elements. The full release will include a wider variety of enemies, more mechanics, plot-integrated tutorials, and much more.

💥This special build is CPU-heavy due to the large number of enemies you'll be facing simultaneously. We've increased the enemy count to let you experiment with them. However, in the Early Access version, there will be fewer enemies, but they will pose a greater threat.💥

How long will the playtests last? For now, we’re leaving the end date open! Our goal is to continuously add more content, and we’re excited to reveal that the next major update will introduce Sandbox Mode, where you’ll have the freedom to do whatever you want.

Important information for users of headsets other than Meta Quest. At the launch of Into The Darkness VR Early Access, the game will support all popular headsets. However, during the Open Playtest, you’ll only see controls displayed for Meta devices.

Wondering about sharing videos from Into The Darkness VR, like on YouTube? There are no restrictions! Feel free to share your gameplay footage anywhere you’d like. These videos will provide us with valuable insights into how you experience the game.

When is the premiere of Into The Darkness VR? We don’t have a definitive answer yet. While we’re currently assembling many completed elements, and the game is taking shape daily, our goal is to launch the Early Access version in the best possible condition. Your feedback from the special level in the Open Playtests will play a crucial role in determining the release date.

  • Optimized gameplay performance.
  • Added DLSS and FSR support for anti-aliasing
  • Added support for wielding the katana with both hands.
  • Added combat sounds for MK1 android during battles.
  • Improved spatial audio with reverb effects.
  • Fixed issue with sliding down from the lower point on the zipline.
  • Fixed issue preventing death in some cases.
  • Fixed minor bugs related to player-world interactions.
  • Fixed dead android body physics bug.
  • Fixed bug where androids spiked with arrows couldn't move correctly.

Glimpse of upcoming playtests - Into The Darkness VR

Hey guys!

While we may have been a bit quiet lately, it's all been for a very good reason. We've been diligently hard at work on something really important. We're now on the cusp of developing a build that will be available for community testing!



The meticulously crafted level we've almost prepared (which is a part of Into The Darkness VR Early Access) will serve as a playground for you to explore and test many of the exciting mechanics. Furthermore, playtest participants will have the chance to uncover a portion of the storyline.



While we can't provide an exact date for the start of playtests just yet, rest assured that as soon as everything will be top-notch, we'll eagerly share concrete details with you, including the release date for PCVR platform. And beware, something’s lurking in the dark.

Melee & Tech - Into The Darkness VR

Hey guys!

Welcome to our latest devlog update for Into The Darkness VR! Today we'd like to answer some players' questions about melee combat... using some vastly different tools. Also - water update and new screenshot.

We would also like to inform you that from now on we will try to show longer gameplay videos, so devlogs may appear less often!

What melee weapons will appear in the game?

Prepare yourself for an arsenal of formidable tools, including the versatile katana, available in both its basic form and an enhanced version with body improvements. The crowbar, a trusty classic, will also be at your disposal, alongside a knife (basic and highly improved variant).

But that's not all! We have a special surprise in store for you - an extraordinary secret weapon that will leave your adversaries trembling in fear. Stay tuned for more details as we unveil this addition.

As you navigate through the immersive environments, be aware of the various hazards scattered throughout. Even seemingly innocuous pipes lying on the ground can pack a punch, dealing significant damage to unsuspecting foes. Keep your wits about you and use the surroundings to your advantage.

Will machine guns etc. also be melee weapons?

Prepare for a truly immersive experience, where each firearm possesses its own distinct weight and mechanics. You'll feel the weight of every weapon in your hands, allowing for tactical gameplay. Get ready to unleash devastating strikes using the gun stock as a powerful melee weapon, maximizing the impact on your opponents.

While we're exploring various weapon modifications, we want to clarify that a bayonet attachment is not currently within our plans. However, we're continuously refining and expanding our game's features to provide you with an exceptional gaming experience.

Something new to show?

We’re developing our technologies responsible for water and waves. Yes, you can expect scenes that will make you hold your breath.
