Dev Log #2 - Endgame Insanity
Greetings Survivors!
We had a record number of players get in on the action this month as we participated in Steam's June Next Fest. We're grateful for everyone who played the game, and we're especially grateful for the feedback we received - much of which we've already started implementing.

After playing the demo and getting a taste of Lost Isle's early game progression, many players asked us what we have planned for endgame content. The short answer is... it's insane!
Monuments and Insanity
Anyone who played the demo likely encountered two large points of interest called The Ruins of Ravenhall and Hallowed Hill - these locations are referred to as monuments and are the highest risk, highest reward areas on the map. Up until this point they haven't yet reached their final form, and we're excited to finally be able to give you a glimpse of that.

Monuments are the locations where Mauroth has struck the hardest. His influence can be seen and felt all around. Outside of these zones, your sanity remains fully intact, but every second you spend inside monuments reduces it, and as insanity begins to overcome you, some very strange and dangerous things start to happen.

Why would you venture into such places? Because the further you progress through a monument, the better the loot becomes. Making it to the end and completing a monument rewards you with tons of loot, including Ornate Captain's Chests - the only lootable source of the very highest quality weapons and armor.

Not only will you be battle the effects of insanity, like invulnerable wraiths that spawn in to haunt and harm you, but the skeletal forces of Mauroth also increase in difficulty the deeper you explore. Without taking the proper precautions, you're guaranteed to join the numberless dead.

Before embarking on this adventure, you'll want to be fully prepared by acquiring a set of bone armor through research and crafting (or by getting lucky through looting) that has a bonus stat called Insanity Resistance, which dramatically reduces the rate of sanity loss. In addition to bone armor, you should also get your hands on a few Sanity Potions, which instantly restores a portion of your sanity. Perhaps most important of all, don't forget to bring along a friend or two to watch your back.

Keep in mind that The Ruins of Ravenhall and Hallowed Hill are only 2 of 6 monuments that will be included in the final map at the time of Lost Isle's Early Access release, with 2 more in the works, so there will be plenty of endgame content to explore and conquer.

As a bit of a spoiler for another system in the works... post launch we will implement world events where skeletal bosses spawn at the entrance of monuments that have been fully cleared, signaling to the server that Mauroth is seeking revenge after defeat and that players must unite to put the big bad dead to rest!
Upcoming Playtest
• Milestone playtest on July 9th/10th with the goal of reaching player counts of 100+ per server. Please join us! Details will be shared in our Discord Server
 • Massive optimizations to client performance drastically reducing RAM usage, resulting in stable gameplay for players who had previously experienced stuttering and crashes. If you previously played the Lost Isle Demo and had performance issues, it would be very helpful to us if you would participate in the upcoming playtest and let us know if the issues have been resolved for you :)
