Upcoming Weapons Update and 1.0 Release Plans

Hey everyone!

We wanted to give you a quick update on what we're working on. Over the last few weeks, we've received lots of feedback about the Weapon Evolution system - and we heard you loud and clear! While some of you enjoyed the variety it brought, many of you mentioned that it wasn't fun to change weapons mid-run, especially when you have a favorite weapon you'd rather stick with.

To address this feedback, we decided to create a small in-between update, while we also keep working on the next big one. In this smaller update, we're actually going to remove the Weapon Evolution system that was added with the last update. Instead, we're going to replace it with a more streamlined Weapon Upgrade system, which we think will fit the game's design goals better, and will also address the feedback you've been sharing.
So what's going to change in this update?
With this new system, we will add back the Armory and Weapon Store in the Hub. This way, you'll be able to select your preferred weapon at the start of the run again. During the run, each starting weapon will be upgradable twice. These upgrades won't change the mechanics of the gun anymore, and instead only focus on improving that weapons core stats, like less chargeup and cooldown for projectile-based weapons like the Quickshot, shorter ticks between damage and more range for beam-based weapons like the Stabilized Quantum Beam, or a larger area of effect for the Void Ring.

So instead of worrying about weapon changes, this update will put the focus back on Powers and finding those perfect combinations that make each build and each run special.

We're aiming to have this update ready within the next week or two.
And what about the next big update?
While we're doing this smaller update in between, we're also working on a much bigger update. In fact, our next major update will be "the big one" - our full release! This update will bring all-new levels, enemies, and bosses, and some exciting new mechanics that will give you more choice in your builds, and in how to maximize the run in the way they want.

You'll be able to play it safe and slow, fast and furious, or anything in between. Our goal is to give you a lot more influence in how each run develops, and what combo of crazy upgraded Powers you want to smash your enemies with. We can't wait to show you all of this, and it will be coming to Steam in Q1 2025.
Early Feedback and Testing
We're also planning to run a beta phase before the full release, in early 2025. If you're interested, sign up for our mailing list at https://www.galacticglitch.space/ and we'll reach out to you when the time comes!

Thanks again for all your feedback and support. We're looking forward to getting these weapon ugprades into your hands, and hearing what you think!

Talk to you soon, and keep glitching!

This one includes some much requested features like mid-run saves and boost direction settings, as well as some nice gameplay improvements like much better hit feedback on enemies, and enemy rip-able parts being a lot more fun to use!

Your runs will now be saved at the start of each level, so you can take breaks during longer runs without losing progress. Boost direction now defaults to keyboard input instead of mouse, and there's a setting for it in the controls menu. Enemy hit effects are now way more noticable, and should make it much easier to see enemies' subparts, for easier targeting and ripping them clean off!
