Dreadhunter - Gameplay Preview

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Hi, I’m Matouš Ježek from Trickster Arts and would like to tell you a bit more about our upcoming game Dreadhunter.
As you will see in a nutshell it is quite fast paced action RPG - where you collect items, upgrade your mech and slay vicious monsters.
Combat
We really focused on fluid combat experience and are working hard to deliver an interesting second by second gameplay.

The monsters are both fast and deadly and they constantly keep the player in motion. This includes fast transition between ranged and melee combat and swift dash for movement.

We designed the core gameplay loop as smooth as possible and in a really decent tempo. And trust me there’s lots of rapid dashing, slashing and smashing.
Guns
We wanted guns in Dreadhunter to feel special – heavy and empowering. There are three gun sizes to equip your mech with. You can swap them instantly depending on the threat you are facing and ammo remaining.

At the moment there are three types of guns – kinetic, explosive and plasma. Of course we expect more of them to come.

There are various melee weapons to choose from too. Because we know there’s something satisfying in smashing a group of aliens with a rocket hammer.
Monsters
Enemies are not only fast and deadly, some of them can reposition themselves during combat and some have special attacks. Monsters wielding a gun can also hit you hard if you’ll get too close to them.

Each enemy attack can be avoided by dash or simply by proper possitioning. And what’s important there are no soldiers with machineguns who would simply spray bullets on you.
Environment
The levels you see are procedurally generated, you will never play the same map twice.

We have a special system that allows as having both variety and handcrafted arenas suitable for combat. We carefully defined combinations of monsters to make each encounter fun to play.
Items
The inventory is not there yet, it is still something to be implemented. But you can already collect items and use them.

We designed all the item types to meaningfully change the way you play. Like gloves that add extra plasma balls to all your plasma guns or leg gear that adds an extra explosion to your basic dash or thrusters that add more dashes in general.

By collecting items you can build interesting sets and find item combinations that suit your own playstyle.
Boss Fights
Boss fights also play a big role in Dreadhunter. The main objective of most missions is to find and hunt down a boss. Each story act then results in a boss fight with a massive monster. You might have seen one of them in our reveal trailer.
Social
There’s still a lot to cover (abilities, character and item upgrades), we will talk about them next time. Don’t forget to follow us on our social channels and wishlist Dreadhunter on Steam!
