Blocking Beta - v4.01

[p]Well, well, well. What can I say? The wait, you’ll find it was definitely worth it. Today I have an absolutely monstrous update for the Samara lovers out there. Wet Nightmares beta version 4.01, this update is the full chapter 3 experience completely blocked out, and this is something you can experience right now on the brand new beta branch for Wet Nightmares! You can enable this via the game properties, it will download a whole new game and will ONLY be Chapter 3. It will not have any nice menus or support your old saves, but you can see everything from the start to the end of the chapter.[/p][p][/p][p]Why beta branch? Well simply because this build is a chapter blocking build. Blocking is when the majority of the game is using sketches and basic drawings to “block out” the timing and scene changes needed. It will also give Erkerut a laundry list of art he needs to complete if the blocking build is accepted without any changes. [/p][p][/p][p]Take a look at the example of what the blocking art will look like vs. the full complete art. The full Chapter 3 has 285 hand-drawn images with 92 of those images in a “final quality” state (though you won’t see those in the game currently). There is a lot of animations in there as well, new audio effects for Samara, new music tracks, and a boatload of spoops and scares.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Narrative-wise the chapter is completely done—as you’ll experience in the build if you play it—currently it only supports English for now, but the entire chapter is over 24,000 words long. That is the combined size of chapters 1 and 2! Meaning with the addition of chapter 3, we have now doubled the length of the game. There are some spelling, grammar, and formatting issues that need to be addressed as well, but know that we already know about them.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]So please, enjoy this look into the development of chapter 3. If you do muster up the courage to play it, which would effectively spoil the chapter for yourself, you’ll have an excellent idea why it has taken us so long to get it all together.[/p][p][/p][p]The next steps for the game will be that the programming team will integrate the blocking into the main game, and Erkerut will move onto the task of doing each of the 300ish hand-drawn art panels for the game. v3.11 + Achievements/Trading Cards

[p]Hello everyone! Thank you all for the wonderful support and patience you have shown Erkerut as he builds the next Chapter of Wet Nightmares. We have a small update for you all today.[/p][p][/p][h3]Script and Narrative[/h3][p]General bugs and fixes for the script and systems have been implemented into the game. Many of these were identified by the dedicated community and fans, so thank you all very much for your feedback! [/p][p][/p][h3]Steam Community Content[/h3][p]We have worked with Steam support to bring the Steam customers two exciting features: Steam Achievements and Steam Trading Cards! The achievements right now are a simple track of the chapters you’ve progressed through, but as alternative paths and endings are created, expect a few more hidden ones to appear. And the trading cards come with some emoticons and backgrounds for you all to collect and trade![/p][p][/p][p][/p][h3]Chapter 03 News[/h3][p]For those of you looking to get an update on how things are going, we have finished up the Chapter 03 overhaul text, and it is now getting an English Copy pass. Erkerut is hard at work blocking out the chapter before it goes into the engine. This is the process of creating “dummy” art to fill in the space where new pieces are needed. It allows us to see the flow and process of it all, and it helps make sure the game has all the art planned it needs. [/p][p]I can also throw in here some of the sketches used for the dummy images in the blocking, without any sort of context to give you all an idea of how it's looking. The current goal is to put everything in the game and get a build ready to put out as a beta.[/p][p]Spoilers ahead, I guess![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Lastly, Erkerut wanted me to pass on his thanks for your patience. Since the launch of Wet Nightmares, his life has changed a lot, and he also had to deal with way too many family members passing suddenly in the last few months, which put a pause on his work for a while. Early Access Launch

Wet Nightmares is out right now in the Early Access program! Developing this game has been a right of passage for everyone involved. It started as a solo project for Erkerut, and with the involvement of Kinky Fridays, the game has come leaps and bounds since then. Today we are proud to offer the game to you all, after all this time!



The launch of Wet Nightmares starts with the first two chapters of the game and two languages (English and Spanish). The full narrative has already been written, and development will be done Chapter by Chapter. Meaning after we launch today pre-production and planning begin for Chapter 3.

The full project will be 5 total Chapters with several endings, and polish is at the core of what makes Wet Nightmares work. Check out the roadmap below for more details.

Demo Launch

Welcome, everyone! The day has finally come: We have just uploaded the Wet Nightmares Demo to Steam!


The Demo is a small portion of the brand new fully-completed Chapter 01 which very recently had an update. Every single asset in the game has been fully overhauled to match Erkerut's updated rendering style. We have also overhauled the story and fixed so many bugs and UX presentation issues. This Demo is a very good indication of our final game presentation.
