ILA: A Frosty Glide News

Hi everyone! 💛

ILA is part of the Wholesome Steam Event, and starting tomorrow, it’ll also be featured in the Indie Arena Booth Event at Gamescom! That means the demo will be available until August 26th!


We've got some new updates based on your feedback in this demo! Here’s what’s new:

[h3]1. Improved Camera:[/h3]

- We've fixed the clipping issue.
- If an object or structure blocks Ila, voila! A little cutout appears so you can see clearly.
- We also added a distance view option and first-person mode for platforms. Plus, we gave the blur effect a nice polish!




[h3]2. Expanded Ila’s Story:[/h3]

Now you can interact with objects and uncover more about what Ila is up to on this enchanted island.



[h3]3. Landmarks:[/h3]

It's now easier to find your way around the world.



[h3]4. Glide Enhancement:[/h3]

When you unlock the broom upgrade, you’ll be able to glide longer by holding down the glide button. No more sudden nosedives!



[h3]5. Hat with a Life of Its Own![/h3]

We’ve added physics to Ila's hat and improved the existing ones. Now her hat moves like it has its own personality! (And we snuck in some extra art details here and there. 🤗


We'll also be at Gamescom with a physical ILA booth in the Indie Arena Booth area! (HALL 10.2, F010G - E019) If you're around, stop by to say hi or try out the game with us. We’d love to see you!

It all started during the Bigmode Game Jam last year, where we had just 19 days to bring our whimsical idea to life. We already had some fun illustrations about an early idea of ILA (she was originally called “Lila” but let’s leave that for another day), but that was it. Somehow, the concept of combining our passion for longboarding with the mystical allure of a witch’s broomstick resulted in the birth of ILA and her trusty skatebroom. Yes, you read that right—it's a skateboard and a broomstick all in one, because why not? It's cooler, it's magical, and it’s just plain fun (and let’s address the elephant in the room… flying on a broom is really uncomfortable. Not that we have tried, of course. Or… have we? 😬)

ILA is a young witch-in-training with big dreams and an even bigger heart. Armed with her skatebroom, she sets off to conquer the snowy peaks of a cozy and magical island, solving gravity-defying puzzles, collecting treasures, and customizing her look with stylish hats and capes. And the best part? You can now dive into this enchanting world yourself because the demo is live on Steam and can’t wait to hear your feedback! 🎮
