Dread Delusion News

After two long years in early access, my favorite indie Elder Scrolls-alike is getting its full release—and it'll let you fly around in your own airship

One of my most anticipated games is paradoxically one I already have 19 hours logged in, and yet here I stand, thrilled at the news of Dread Delusion's 1.0 release. The indie mini-Morrowind will be launching in full on May 14...

Retro RPG with near-perfect Steam scores feels like a new Morrowind

Between Diablo, Fallout, and Baldur's Gate, the '90s might be regarded as the golden age for RPGs on PC. But if you jump a few years ahead, beyond the millennium and into the early '00s, there are some serious classics, enough to maybe steal the title as the genre's best decade. Elder Scrolls Morrowind. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. Deus Ex. Gothic. King's Field IV. Taking inspiration from all these hits and more, an upcoming RPG with a retro aesthetic has accumulated near-flawless Steam user reviews, and now it's departing early access for its full 1.0 release.

Dread Delusion is a vibrant take on Elder Scrolls: Morrowind

Spooky throwback Elder Scrolls 'em up Dread Delusion leaves early access in May

Dread Delusion is a creepo-tastic open world RPG that positively reeks of King's Field and the Elder Scrolls of yore. Created by Lovely Hellplace and published by horror anthology specialists DreadXP, it's so far up my alley it's probably been mugged by some kind of hideous clockwork cutthroat - and yet somehow, I've never played the thing. I'll be rectifying that on 14th May, when Dread Delusion leaves early access.

Leaving Early Access!

Thank you again to each and every one of you who made Dread Delusion’s early access a success! Your enthusiasm and feedback have been essential to helping create the final version of the game, and everyone at both Lovely Hellplace and DreadXP are eternally appreciative of each one of you who has taken this journey along with us.

Speaking of the final version of the game... May 14th. That's right, 1.0 is almost here.

With the game is leaving Early Access, there is also going to be a big update that goes live at launch. This includes some much-requested changes, the ability to finally (finally) complete a playthrough (with an ending!), new mechanics, and even more that we can share when the game comes out!

We look forward to players both seasoned and new getting their hands on the full version of the game soon, the road here has been long and fruitful but this marks not the end of this journey... but a new beginning.

Until then fellow Delusionites...

P.S.
Also you can get an airship. You can upgrade them. It's awesome.

Please note that save data will be wiped come 1.0’s release. (Well, not technically wiped, your old save data will be preserved, but the game will use a new set of files for save data tracking. If you’d like to use your older save files when 1.0 hits, all you’d need to do is overwrite the new file slot with the old one. There’s a high chance that this may cause issues with your save, but we wanted to leave that option available for players).

We also wanted to leave our players with a preview of the dangers that they will face in the Underlands come 1.0:
