Scream Fest - Halloween sneak peek

Hello Vampires! I present a small sneak peek of our work.

Currently, we are polishing clan management, making final models for the game, and finding the best lighting setup. For now, I can show you some new 3D models (without textures yet). Those models present the workshop with different levels.

How does it work? Each room you are able to build in the game can be upgraded to a higher level using research points and resources. With each level, you gain faster production and unlock better technology. You can see some of the workshops renders below.

Besides that, some of the rooms can be expanded by placing the same rooms next to them (with the same level). Their upgrades will be more expensive, but this room can fit more working slaves at the same time than two separate rooms.
More workers can produce more resources at the same time, so if your vampires have enough slaves and they don't want to drink them all, they can expand their clan faster.
Below, you can see the expanded room.

Wish you a scary Halloween.
And watch out for vampires, now they don't have to hide.

I hope you like it, tell us what you think about this update on our Discord channel. Feel free to share your ideas and suggestions.

Devlog #6 - Upgrades and crafting

Hello Vampires! In this devlog, I want to show you how you can upgrade Vampires' base, craft items, and resources.

First, we improved the inventory and chests system to allow players to manage their resources in the base better. Also, now there is a warehouse on the base, where vampires can store and share all their resources.

We also added a crafting system that allows players to craft new items in various crafting stations. Now, to upgrade or build a room you need special resources which you can get in Paris streets or you can craft them in your base. To do so, you need to place a crafting station in one of your special crafting rooms (smithy, workshop, etc.), grab the required resources, and then send one of your servants to craft whatever you need. It takes time, but once you order the servant to work, he will be doing this as long as he runs out of resources. During this time you can do whatever you want, e.g. send your vampires to hunt some fresh blood. Everyone in your base can work on their own.

I mentioned crafting stations before - those are upgrades that you can build within the rooms. Every room has its own set of available upgrades and there could be more of them than space in the room (so you may need more rooms of the same type, or expand the existing one). Every crafting station unlocks new items to craft, they are necessary to expand your clan!

Devlog #5 - Quests, equipment, stats, and more

Hello Vampires!

I want to show you what we have been working on since the last devlog.

First of all, we upgraded Vampire Clans to Unreal Engine 5, there is some work to finish, but it looks much better even now. We added Lumen Global Illumination, a lighting system that works like a ray tracing, but it works by software. It means, that you don't have to have an expensive graphic card to use it. Also, a Temporal Super-Resolution helps to play in high detail on not the newest PCs/laptops. TSR can upsample 1080p to 4k without noticeable changes in quality. So, now on the laptop with graphic card 1050 Ti and Intel i5 - 7300U, we reached a stable 30 FPS on high settings (120 on low) in Full HD with software ray tracing turned on (Lumen) - without TSR in this setup game runs at unstable 12 FPS.

Another thing we made is a quest system and questlines. Besides the main story, there will be a lot of side quests that will help e.g. with collecting unique alchemy ingredients to make powerful potions or with finding artifacts. There will be random quests in-game too, which will let you help people (or hinder) with achieving their goals. Why a vampire should help someone? Apart from additional rewards, those citizens will be loyal to your clan.

Equipment and stats - we made a statistics system. A lot of stats that can be upgraded on every level of vampire. Stats are highly connected with equipment, every item has bonuses to stats, and the amount of bonuses and their power depends on the rarity, type, and upgrade level of an item.

Also, we added a lot of new things that vampires can do in the world e.g. looting chests, and corpses, making potions, or even cutting a tree... but wait, that's not befitting a majestic vampire, so we made slaves system. Vampires now can kidnap people and close them to a prison, then they have to listen to orders from vampires (I mean, they won't always be, but vampires can just drink their blood and throw corpses into dogs' caves). To have good slaves, vampires, unfortunately, have to take care of them by giving them food or not letting their overwork. Mental health is also important, working with corpses for a long time is not good for people.

Devlog #4 - Fighting and animations

Hello Vampires lords!

After a long work, I can finally show you the fighting system which we just finished.

Fighting in Vampire Clans is based on a slow-motion tactic, which is almost like an active pause but your vamps could be hit if you are making your decision too long. Of course, you can use a traditional real-time playstyle based on your reflex.

There are two modes of vampire locomotion. In one of them, the vampire is acting normal, just like normal people do.

The second mode is fighting mode, which allows the vampire to move and fight super-fast, adds damage, and - what is most important - adds the vampire sense. Vampire sense turns on slow motion when the vampire is attacked (and when he's not moving), which allows him to make effective dodges and counterattacks.

We also upgraded an AI of NPCs. Now they are not only running from vampires, but they can start to attack him. In gifs, you can see the people using crossbows. They are trying to avoid a direct and close meeting with the vampire. When the vampire is too close to them, they are moving back, and the further NPCs are slowly moving toward the vampire and trying to shoot him. During this, NPCs are always trying to surround the vampire and don't let him escape.

In addition to this, we made new moving animations that are much smoother than the previous ones. Also, there are two camera modes, one of them is an unlocked camera. The second one is a lock on target mode. You can now lock on camera on your current vampire to make an RPG playstyle.

Devlog #3 - Building and management

Hello Vamps!
Today we want to show you what we just did in Vampire Clans!

Since now, our vampires can build, upgrade and manage their underground base! You will be able to choose from a lot of room types, each of them will have special functionality for a clan, like a prison, slaughterhouse, dogs lair, or alchemist laboratory. Every room will have a few visual variations and some options to customize to make your vampires feel like in the home, and your prisoners like in hell.

As a clan, vampires can now share blood supplies, imprison people and collect resources for growth the strongest clan in Paris.

Additionally, we are implementing a new user interface, which part you can see on the gifs. tell us what do you think about it.
