Combat in Survive the Fall

Today, we'll take a closer look at how combat works in Survive the Fall.
In STF you can choose to shoot your enemies with firearms or engage them directly with melee weapons. However, it's important to remember that Survive the Fall is an action-packed real-life experience - things happen quickly and without warning.

Charging head-on into battle may not always be the best approach. Fortunately, there's also a stealth mode available which allows you to see enemies' line of sight so you can sneak up on them from behind for some silent kills. You’ll appreciate just how effective knives can be in getting the job done.

In Survive the Fall, you don't have to do everything alone. Take advantage of the special planning mode which allows you to order your companions to engage or shoot an enemy - this can help you take out multiple foes simultaneously for a more efficient approach.

However, it's important to plan your actions carefully and wisely so that unintended enemies aren't triggered in the process. You don’t want the hunter to be hunted.

Here’s Zack

Sound the alarm, Zack the fireman, comes along.

Zack is the second character you’ll have the pleasure to control at the beginning of the game. He's a bit more reserved than Dan, but his skills are invaluable. Check out Zack's talent list:

- Brawling. Zack’s melee attacks use less stamina and cause more damage.
- Decluttering. No one other is faster at getting rid of debris than Zack.
- Searching. He’s able to preview loot consisting of material.
- Endurance. This character is used to hardship. While on the supply run, his stamina will reduce slowly. What’s more, he is immune to any fatigue effects.
- Constructing. Zack is proficient in wood and debris materials. That may become handy when you decide to let him hang around in your base.

This time, let's dive into Zack's backstory to find out more about him.

A few years before the Fall, Zack went through a personal trauma when his girlfriend Lisa died in a fire in her apartment. Due to a lack of people, the local fire brigade arrived too late to save her. Since then, Zack has fallen into despair and misery. Being quite a big fella, Zack has always been into food. However, the trauma transferred his poor eating habits into those of compulsive devouring.
Two years went by, and he just put on more weight and wasted more time. Then one day, his friend, Matthiew, dropped by, and seeing the poor state of Zack's soul, he wanted to help him. As Matthiew was a psychologist, he convinced Zack to let go of the old ways and showed him a new goal.

Under the influence of his friend, Zack decided to give his life a new meaning. He wished to be helpful to his local community, so he joined the fire brigade to bolster its crew. He wanted to make sure they now had enough people to act rapidly. With the help of Matthiew, Zack started a diet and became a solid member of the gym. His career in the fire department has begun. Unfortunately for him, the Fall smashed all his plans and cast a shadow on his mental condition. Zack is a fine fireman still, but without his mentor, the old bad habits slowly creep into his mind.

It means he has weaknesses like:

- he requires more amount of food!

There you have it, another companion revealed himself. Stay tuned for more news!

Survival Fest

Hey to all Survivors!

The time has come in which we give you a little insight into the work of creating the world of Survive the Fall!

Survive the Fall is a post-apocalyptic open world, action game with isometric view.

The gameplay will be split for two parts, an EXPEDITION - where you will be able to play with up to three characters and the second one concerns developing your settlement - BASE.

EXPEDITIONS.

While searching for goods, you will explore the altered world and face wild animals, bandits, marauders, and more on your way. While wandering the biomes, you will have a chance to encounter quest givers or NPCs for you to recruit.

You, with your team, are in the middle of upcoming confrontations between groups formed after the collapse of civilization as we know it.

COMBAT is a crucial gameplay element, especially when you’re out of your cozy base. Your enemies can be dealt with by firearms and melee weapons. They both come up with a great selection to choose from. Sometimes it’s hard to face your opponents head-on, so you will be able to sneak around and inflict the killing blow from behind.

BASE

In this post-apocalyptic world, you command a handful of survivors to set up a new community. You will have an opportunity to recruit new members, expand your base by adding new buildings and re-invent technology from the scraps. Every member of your community will have a specific role to fulfill, and it’s up to you how to use their skills most effectively. Just remember that people aren’t machines, they have their own needs you will need to satisfy.

Make sure you add Survive the Fall to your Wishlist!

Meet Dan!

At the beginning of the expedition, you'll control two team members, Dan and Zack. Each one has a set of special abilities that you can use to fight enemies, explore locations, and so on.

Meet Dan, a peerless hunter among your crew. You will surely find his arsenal of skills valuable. Among them are such talents as:

- Marksmanship. A bonus to shooting attacks comes in handy.
- Tracking. Dan can quickly scan the area and easily find traces of animals or people.
- Processing. Once the tracked animal is dead, Dan will show you his proficiency in skinning and processing meat. He only does it with animals, though. Human flesh is too polluted for his taste. At least, he claims so.
- Stealth. Dan is an indisputable master of camouflage, which means he can become stealthy and reduce the sound he makes.
- Assassination. He can quickly and easily assassinate an enemy, thanks to his stealthy approach. Moreover, Dan can use any melee weapon in the process, not only a knife like any other character.

Looks like this guy is an ideal of an apocalypse survivalist?
Well, there are also some downsides of Dan the hunter...

Let’s go back a couple of years before the Fall!
Dan and his friend, Travis, celebrated New Year's Eve in their favorite way – drinking beer, having a barbecue, and trying out new challenges.
To make the long story short, Travis fired up too many firecrackers at once while Dan tried to avoid them. It all went wrong. Dan got hit by several of them and got badly burnt. But that’s not all. He fell on a digging fork and severely pierced his left thigh. Hopefully, he still had his insurance, and the doctors patched him up.
Now Dan avoids alcohol and digging forks alike. He carries his scars to this day. In gameplay terms, he is more susceptible to wounds caused by human enemies.

It means he has weaknesses like:

- less HP
- more chances to get wounded (each blow reduces his max HP until he gets cured)
- the healing process also takes more time

To sum up, it’s better for him to attack unnoticed and not get caught. Easy!

Survive the Fall | Stasis

Hey to all Survivors!

The time has come when we give you a little insight into the world of Survive the Fall!

We would like to share with you some information regarding Stasis, as it is one of the a key elements of the Survive the Fall world.

So speaking of the devil, what is this „Stasis”?

Stasis, due to a lack of proper research centers in the post-apocalyptic world, has not been thoroughly studied by scientists. It can be assumed that it is a kind of life form - not previously known to humanity. Some theories claim that Stasis was released into the atmosphere from the vapor of an asteroid hitting Earth.

Stasis has changed the world's ecosystem. Since the comet's impact, the only season of the year has been perpetual autumn. Stasis affects most organisms it makes contact with. Through it, some organisms of both plants and animals mutate.

Unprotected contact with Stasis will almost always result in mutation or death. It is not known what the natural resistance to the Stasis effect is. Some organisms are more or less susceptible.

Particles of Stasis are carried along with the fog.

Of all the organisms on Earth, fungi have proven to be the biggest beneficiaries of Stasis. Through Stasis, new species of fungi were created. They have become much larger, and their bio-effects seem to be enhanced.

Check out the screenshot of what Stasis and what some of the many new species of fungi created after the asteroid impact actually looks like.
