Devlog #13 - Visual Evolution 🎨

How's it going, Mechanics? 🛠️

It seems you have enjoyed our little production sneak peek from the previous DevLog where we showed you how the mechanics behind the repair system worked in the beginning and how they have evolved with the development of Rally Mechanic Simulator.
So, today we want to show you even more behind the scenes content of how the game has changed when it comes to the graphics and visual aspects.

The garage is the main part of the game - that’s where all the magic happens when it comes to maintenance of Rally cars. At the start, we knew that the space needed to be big enough for both the car and all the necessary equipment. Mechanics also have to feel comfortable there and not work in cramped conditions. Take a look at how from this simple concept the garage has evolved into something much, much more intriguing and unique.

We added some stairs as well - but you can’t sue us if you fall though…

Now let’s get to the good stuff, the meat of this whole ordeal. Any good mechanic needs to know their way around and under the hood. All vital components of a particular rally car have to be checked and repaired if necessary. However, even this very central part of Rally Mechanic Simulator’s gameplay has changed over time when it comes to the visual representation.

It may look like we just put a new coat of fresh paint on top of the engine, but trust - it’s more than that!

The garage is alright, but what about the on-the-go repairs when your rider has an accident during a race or when something malfunctions inside the car on the road? Well, that’s where our Rally repair station comes in handy! Don’t get us wrong - it’s just a big tent with equipment, but that’s better than nothing. Even if simple in concept, you can see below how this small space for quick repairs during rallies has changed to something more visually appealing throughout the development.

In the previous state, you can even see yourself standing next to the car! So uncanny…

How do you like the new look, Mechanics?
We think it looks awesome, but we want to hear your thoughts as well! Also, if there is ANY topic that you want featured for the next devlog, let us know in the comments!

Devlog #12 - Art of Repairs (Past vs. Present) 🛠️

Hi Mechanics! 🛠️

After a very successful Prologue, we are gearing up for a full release of course. Now, full throttle to the next devlog.
Were you perhaps curious about the inside-out of developing such an intricate game as Rally Mechanic Simulator? Well, then read on and take a look at how the game has been shaping up throughout the months of the team's hard work.

Before you even attempt to fix a particular part, you need to disassemble it first! Even this simple process had plenty of iterations in the project. Below, you can see how it has evolved throughout the development from just a simple dissolving cube!

One cube goes a looooong way as developers say!

Now, once you got your hands dirty already, it’s time for the real repairing to start. There are plenty of tools in your garage to use for the occasion, so take a look around and choose wisely.
Then, you still have to put in the work and fix the particular part. Since we want every part of the game to feel fun and satisfying, we have designed a special mini-game for this process. Take a look at the evolution of this one little mechanic

You may say the squares stayed the same, but we just put them in a fancier bodywork!

Right, we are dealing with rally cars here so wheels maintenance is of utmost importance. Don’t worry - we have gear for fixing your tires as well. As in the case of the repairs station, we designed another way to make repairs more dynamic and fun. The GIF below presents how this one small game started as a simple concept and changed to something more substantial throughout the development of Rally Mechanic Simulator.

No matter what, the wheel keeps spinning and spinning and spinning…

What do you think, Mechanics?

Rally Mechanic Simulator Prologue - OUT NOW!

Dear Mechanics!

Today’s the day! Rally Mechanic Simulator Prologue drifts onto Steam!

We knew that we had something good on our hands, after loads of playtesting and positive feedback we received from the demo. However, you, players, requested one crucial feature - driving. The Prologue has it!

The features of the prologue include:
 • 2 rallies, a tarmac and a gravel one,
 • a timing clock that puts a challenging spin on the mechanical games’ formula,
 • a car inspired by a 90s JDM rally legend,
 • minigames that will make your gameplay more varied,
 • and finally… a test drive mode!

This is a great opportunity to not only tinker with your car but also to send it. You will have a track at your disposal, a pretty quick car and a public leaderboard. And we have a small competition for you:

The people who manage to have their time in the top 5 by next Friday (19th of July) will be granted a Steam key for the full version of the game when it releases!

If that didn’t scratch your motorsport your motorsport itch, then nothing will. Head here and get the prologue, as it’s out NOW!

RMS Prologue Coming Soon - Wishlist Now!

Fellow Mechanics!

Big news is coming! The prologue of Rally Mechanic Simulator has its Steam card up live now! It features two rallies to conquer, plenty of parts to tinker with and Sortes Vixa, a car inspired by the JDM rally legends of the 90s.

This may seem like a similar set of features to those we had in the demo. Of course, we also made loads of fixes and got rid of all the annoying bugs. However, the game’s demo was released a while ago. Before that, there were playtests. And we’ve encountered one request which we hadn’t had in our plans but made a lot of sense. To have driving in the game.
We listened to you.
Rally Mechanic Simulator’s prologue will feature a test drive mode with timed laps. We’ve been testing it with some community members for the last 2 weeks or so (join our Discord server to become a part of the P2C community!) and we’ve all been having a blast while also making plenty of additional fixes. A cool thing is that changing parts does influence the way your car will drive, with gravel parts making the ride higher and softer.

Where will we go with the mode? We’ll see. However, keep in mind that it’s not going to be the core activity of the game and will not make RMS into a proper racing game.

We expect to release the prologue soon and will let you know once it’s up. In the meantime, give the demo a shot and pop into our Discord server to spend some quality time with other gearheads!

Devlog #11 - Tuning and painting

Hello, fellow mechanic!

Motorsport is in huge part about speed. But why would you want to cruise through special stages in a (kinda) stock vehicle? There are plenty of examples of great body kits and liveries in the real world of motorsport, so you’ll have an opportunity to modify this aspect of your car in Rally Mechanic Simulator. Today’s devlog is all about painting and visual tuning!
Body work
All cars in the game are going to have sporty looks even in their basic form. You’ve already seen and liked them in our previous devlog. They look like they are ready to hit the track. However, it’s just not enough sometimes. Or you just think the vehicle could look a bit cooler. Each car will have a couple of different sets of body parts, so you’ll have some choices when it comes to making your car look like you envision it. Bumpers, hoods, spoilers and such will be at your disposal. Once you get them, you’ll of course have to fit them yourself! Worry not, the process is usually pretty simple and takes only a few clicks.
How to get and install these parts
The game is going to feature a parts shop that you have already seen in the demo. In the upcoming versions of the game, the shop will be expanded compared to the currently available one. This could be said about the entirety of Rally Mechanic Simulator, but let’s not get sidetracked. Let’s say that you’ve just bought a new cool body parts. What you should do next? No need for anything too fancy - just walk up to the car, remove the old body panels and install the new ones. As simple as it gets! We also do realize some of the cars that we used as inspiration for the vehicles in the game have overly complex ways of installing body panels, but we didn’t replicate them. Who’d want to dismantle half of their car to install a side skirt, after all?
The performance aspect
Will the body parts influence the performance of the car? No, they won’t. Sure, they would do so in real life, especially considering things like weight, aerodynamics and cooling. At this point in time, though, we want to keep modification of bodywork a simple endeavor that will serve only the aesthetic purpose.
Go (almost) full Picasso
Another huge part of modifying the way a car looks is painting. This will be made available in Rally Mechanic Simulator as well. In the beginning, it will be just a painting area you’ll need to unlock. The capabilities will also be limited - one colour paint for the entire body. It is still pretty cool as most cars you’ve ever seen. Also, as sports cars often have decals and liveries, they are expected to make it into the game at some point in the future. Just imagine the possibilities!

This is it for today. We have some massive things in the works, so you can expect big news coming in the near future. Keep an eye out for them!
