Some of you reported a recurring bug that started to appear after we published our latest patch - the problem would appear at Viktor's workshop and was preventing progress in the game. We're sorry about that! We've been on it and made a hotfix that's live right now. This should solve the problem and allow you to continue your journey in Liberte without further disruptions. 🙂

Thanks for sticking with us through this. Remember that we're here and working to make your Liberte experience the best it can be. 🔥

Major Deckbuilder overhaul - The new patch is now live! 🔥

Revolutionists! 🔥

We've been all ears since Liberte was released. Your feedback has been our guiding light, and we've made some pretty big changes based on what you told us. Here are a couple of words on changes, improvements, and bug fixes. 🔥
New Deckbuilder
One of the most notable transformations is the complete redesign of the deckbuilder. It's now more intuitive and easily readable at a glance. We hope this design will encourage you to play around with your deck a bit more! Instead of multiple UI windows, everything - building your deck, crafting cards, and unlocking new blueprints - is now all in one place. Additionally, we added suggestions on what amount of a particular type of card is best placed in a deck so that it is effective and fun to play!
New Level Selection Screen
We've added a map feature that gives you all the information you need at a glance. Starting a run is simpler now - no need to vote, just pick a quest from the map. You'll also get extra details like the quest's objective, the faction it's for, and the curses you might encounter.

That's right! We've also changed how curses work. Instead of gathering them as you progress, you'll get new ones each time you start a new level. 🔥
Besides that, Patch 1.0.3 also includes:
⚔️ A chance to encounter a powerful Mini-Boss enemy at mid-level;
☠️ Bliss Curses change with each level in a run;
🔎 Ability to preview Bliss Curses before entering a level;
🤒 The final boss fight can now be played on higher difficulties!
Some of the bugs that we fixed:
🐛 multiple instances of holes in geometry causing players to get stuck;
🐛 multiple typos in conversations;
🐛 stutters in Victor's combat animation;
🐛 other minor bug fixes.

Looking back and sharing some good memories

Dear Revolutionists!

Liberté has been out for a bit of a month now. It's an insane feeling to look back at years of work and see the game it's become. We published our backstory way back when, but since we get asked about the behind-the-scenes stories from Liberté's development, here are some more fun facts we didn't share in our previous posts. 😉

The most fun times were usually going for a whole weekend, renting a house or apartment, and just spending hours brainstorming. We would have the entire place "redesigned" with post-its where the whole timeline was supposed to emerge. And to get inspired, we played games - obviously. 😉 One huge influence was Diablo III, and the gameplay mechanics that were drawing players deeper into the storyline.

These long sessions were very fruitful, because they allowed us to mix ideas and explore how the characters could interact with each other. Some of the first drafts of the game's beginning said that the player was supposed to sneak into Paris and kill Prince Phillip, running side by side with Ana among the streets, and Lady Bliss' appearance was supposed to stop that from happening! In other versions of the story, the player wasn't supposed to be Lady Bliss' henchman at all - instead, the idea was to play four different characters and stick to just one faction in the entire story.

Truth be told, a lot of time - aside from actual development - went into building a believable world only inspired by real events. We've written down documents about the systems of beliefs in both The Congregation and The Tribe, and it was like building an entire religion from scratch. What begins as a free-solo type of only creative work becomes gradually more structured because these two religions became consistent and full of rituals, their own heroes, and stories. One day we might even release them - perhaps as comic books or art books? Who knows! (If you're up for that, let us know in the comments! 😉)

We put a lot of time and effort into pouring our love into Liberté. It would mean the world to us if you could leave a review if you haven't already. Reviews are helpful to both developers and other players in the Steam community. They can boost the game's visibility on the platform so that more people may have a chance to discover Liberté.
