New Ship and a save bugfix

Hi Aquanauts!

This is kind of a bonus update to the game. We just added a new ship! Check it out in your base ;)

ALSO very important bugfix connected to corrupted saves. If you have been naming your saves with just numbers, like "1","2" etc. you might have experienced a bug. Not only saves were corrupted, but there was a significant drop of FPS and also a lot of weird letters in the background of the save menu. NOW IT IS FIXED!

However, if your files were corrupted, we need to manually change them or delete them. Please head to our Discord and find Maciej to help you with it. Here is the instruction that you can also find on Discord:

If your saves are corrupted you have two choices to fix it:
A) If you don't care about your saves, you can delete the "Stardiver" folder in the following location: %APPDATA%..\LocalLow\GreenPlanetGames\
WARNING: this will remove all your existing saves!

B) On Discord, you can send me the packed "Stardiver" folder from the same location: %APPDATA%..\LocalLow\GreenPlanetGames\

I can manually change the content of the files and send it back to you. There is a fairly big chance that I'll be able to fix the corrupted save files for you. But it may not fix 100% of them and it may not work in specific cases.

Sorry for the problem and thank you for your understanding. This is already fixed in the game and won't happen in the future (from now on, you can even name your saves "1", "2" etc.).

Stardiver reimagined! Final Update, Demo Available, Lower Price, and a Big Sale!

Hi Aquanauts!

Stardiver reimagined => a day we want to shift your perspective on our indie game and offer you a new demo to try the game out, a lower price, a biggest 50% sale yet, and a new trailer to get in the Stardiver's adventure and mystery vibe! But let's sort things out in a nice and structured manner :)

Stardiver's new trailer first!
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

[h2]1. Stardiver, what is it?[/h2]
Sci-fi adventure with some action and exploration activities. Think of a Firewatch but with shooting and entirely underwater! We would like to change your perspective on what the game is and who we are as a team. Stardiver is an indie game made by 3 persons (now reduced to just 2 brothers making games together ;)) with a lot of help from outsourcing so we are very grateful to all the great artists that made the game possible! We hope that us being transparent will also help you to decide if the game is a good fit for you as a player.

[h2]2. Demo available![/h2]
It is simple - now everyone can try the game before buying. We've worked on a demo simultanously with the Final Update so it is the very updated version of the game.

[h2]3. Lowered price and the biggest sale yet (50%). And... why we do it?[/h2]
In the vibe of being fully transparent we wanted to lower the price to fit who we are - a small indie team of two brothers. It is an indie game so we came to conclusion that the price should be on indie level too - it was already pretty low to be honest but maybe it wasn't reflecting our small team enough. Now it is.

Alongside, we are launching the biggest sale yet! Why? Because despite all that changes that we made to the game presentation, improvements etc., we are aware that it is not enough to get out from MIXED to POSITIVE review score. That is obviously our goal and we believe that the game deserves it. Financially, it probably won't be good for us, but right now what matters the most is to deliver the game to new players, make a sort of redemption so to speak with this final update. And also important is to celebrate the half year of post-release updates and small patches that happened in that timespan! The game is in the best shape ever and we are sure that it is a very solid indie title for everyone seeking an adventure - and now we wish YOU to believe in it too and try Stardiver yourself!

[h2]4. Final Update.[/h2]
Last but not least - what has changed. The game update brings a lot of fixes and also a portion of a content - a new ship to try!
Since the release we have fixed every single issue from steam reviews, added new content, new settings, and a lot of improvements. It is a good time to try the game ;)

It probably isn't so important to you, but we also changed screenshots and a game description to better match what the game really is. We leave you with a feature list so you can decide if the game is for you before downloading a demo or grabbing a game on the current sale:

  • stunning underwater world

  • sci-fi story with relevant topics such as AI and climate change

  • free-roaming environment

  • both 3rd person and cockpit view

  • 1st person swimming outside the ship

  • activities from varius game genres: shooting, upgrading the ship, crafting, mining resources, gathering useful items, collecting clues about the planet, boss battles

  • 20 missions

  • 30 km2 world with beautiful, atmospheric, color-based areas

  • over 800 lines of dialogue

  • 77 objects to collect and read about

  • 35 achievements to unlock

This time the update is smaller but the big news is that it fixes all issues regarding gamepad functionalities! It is a big milestone for us because the game finally works as intended on all controller devices. We personally love the gamepad experience combined with the underwater environment - it somehow just feels right!

  • [new] V symbol added on suit (as it is a proper Stardiver sygnature!).
  • [new] Flashlight while swimming outside the ship.

  • [changed] We’ve added a visual screen keyboard to be able to save the game while playing on gamepad without a need for physical keyboard anymore.
  • [changed] Added an atmospheric fog in the cave in mission 14

  • [bugfix] Item icon not visible when moving in and out of the warehouse

Update #1

Hi Aquanauts!

Today we released a bigger update for Stardiver. It addresses a lot of your feedback and enhances the gameplay in few places. If you are interested in the game further development and want to help in it by giving us feedback, please join our Discord server here:
https://discord.gg/aPJv62zjTW

[h2]What’s new?[/h2]

We introduce the objective target system. We are very curious about your opinion on that. It is a simple quality-of-life feature that was expected by some players, especially new ones. It shows a current objective position as a target icon in a game world. It will be very useful for finding cave entrances as many of you told us that it was too hard (we admit that we hid the entrances too much).

Check out the gif below. There is an icon suggesting where you should find a mission objective. It is visible through rocks etc. and shows how far the objective is.

[h2]What’s changed?[/h2]

We changed a lot in the game but there are a few things we’d like to mention here for your attention:

  1. You can upgrade the ship much sooner, only after 3rd mission.
  2. A lot of changes in the tutorial according to your feedback (we didn’t thoroughly change it yet though).
  3. Auto-Roll system is now moved to the game settings.
The Auto-Roll change may affect your gamestyle. We moved it to game settings because new players stuck with it set to OFF after the tutorial and it was causing a lot of confusion (check out youtube gameplays with ships flying half-turned all the time ;p). However, some of you were using the “X” key to setting it ON/OFF while playing - that is no longer possible. Please let us know on Discord if this is something you would want to get back. If so, we will work it out somehow.

[h2]List of all improvements and bugfixes[/h2]

  • [new] Displaying “Press F to land” at the center of the screen when on base’s landing point
  • [new] Cave entrances in missions are marked by target icon now
  • [new] Added an objective target system (target icons) to various places in missions
  • [new] Possibility to turn off more visual effects
  • [new] Possibility to change screen mode in settings (windowed, fullscreen exclusive and more)

  • [changed] Swimming outside the ship is more steady (less animation, slower movement, etc.)
  • [changed] Crystals in caves are now bigger, finding them is easier
  • [changed] You can use all buildings in the base sooner (upgrade or change your ship sooner)
  • [changed] Auto-Roll/auto-leveling moved to game settings (previously at “X” key on keyboard)
  • [changed] Less fish in the first fight
  • [changed] Tutorial buttons marked when already used (more info on what is already completed)
  • [changed] Other tutorial improvements like dialogue changes, removing some steps etc.
  • [changed] Sea currents removed from the starting area (created a lot of confusion)
  • [changed] Smaller FOV in cockpit camera (=less motion sickness)
  • [changed] Scanning area is now bigger for easier object scanning
  • [changed] Improved control of the quest view (completed or active)
  • [changed] Minor various cutscenes improvements

  • [bugfix] ESC not working
  • [bugfix] Item icon from inventory staying on cursor after closing the inventory
  • [bugfix] Text overlapping in the main menu
  • [bugfix] Save errors due to unsupported characters
  • [bugfix] Collecting new items when inventory is full sometimes causes items disappearing
  • [bugfix] Crafting causing item loss sometimes
  • [bugfix] Collecting mini-mine tool blocking progress in the mission 3
  • [bugfix] Rare bug with cutting out part of a dialogue in the mission 3
  • [bugfix] Smoother camera action in the first cutscene
  • [bugfix] Smoother camera action in the second (base introduction) cutscene
  • [bugfix] FOV unwanted change when closing a chest while swimming outside the ship
  • [bugfix] Rare problem with dash not working after the fight with Nosozaur
  • [bugfix] Mission 14 starting too soon in some specific cases

We will continue to work on the game so you can expect more changes in the future. Thank you for playing the game! We know that many of you are enjoying it and that makes us very happy. We hope that changes and fixes described above will improve the experience for everyone, existing and new players of Stardiver 🙂
