Over 120 million people are currently displaced worldwide, each with unique stories of resilience and hope.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those affected by humanitarian crises - including the climate crisis. They provide vital assistance and support to people as they strive to rebuild their lives around the world.

Each year on World Refugee Day (June 20th), the IRC focuses on sharing the powerful, personal stories of those they help. This year, the IRC's campaign theme is “the stories behind the numbers,” highlighting our shared humanity and the connections that bind us all.

We want to support and spread awareness of the IRC’s humanitarian mission by running a very special giveaway for World Refugee Day.

So what exactly is Open World Survival Crafting Fest? And why is Wildmender part of it?

Open World Survival Crafting Fest is a time to celebrate all of those games where you start with nothing and gradually, through hard work and excellent survival skills, end up with…potentially also nothing! If you’re able to survive for long enough though, you may find yourself with a beautifully decorated base. Be warned though, the threat of losing it all will always loom over you, so never let your guard down!

While Wildmender is not one of the more intense or cutthroat survival experiences, you do need to learn how to adapt to the environment quickly in order to stay alive. What sets Wildmender apart from a lot of other survival games is that you must work with nature, rather than against it, in order to survive. You’ll need to build a lush oasis, which will provide you with food and water so you can venture out into the desert in search of more materials. Over time, you’ll begin harvesting materials within your own garden, which will allow you to craft shelters, defences, and glorious decorations.

You won’t have to go it alone though, since Wildmender supports up to 4-player online multiplayer!

THRIVE 🌺

To celebrate Wildmender featuring in the Open World Survival Crafting Fest this week, we’re running the Surviving and Thriving Garden Challenge!

The 3 lucky winners will each receive an exclusive Wildmender wearable blanket, notebook, and mug.[/h3]



[h3]In order to take part, you’ll need to take a screenshot of your garden and share it with is. The criteria for this garden challenge is that your garden needs to be optimised for survival, so here are a few things you’ll want to include in your garden screenshot to show us your survival skills:

• Sources of food
  
• Sources of water
  
• Sources of building materials
  
• Shelter(s)
  
• Crafting table(s)
  
• Defensive buildings
  
• Fortifications
  
• Storage
  
• Animal helpers
  

On top of that, we want to see a garden that is thriving, rather than one that is all function over form. You’ll need to make sure your oasis isn’t just streamlined for survival, but also ensure it looks stellar as well. In short, don’t be shy about adding a few decorations alongside your defences!

Once you’ve prepared your screenshot, you’ll need to submit it via GLEAM here. The challenge will run from Monday May 27th until Monday June 10th. The 3 lucky winners will be announced on Monday June 17th.[/h3]

Farming Fest is all about green thumbs and growing big, bold and beautiful crops.

The plants that you'll find in the desert of Wildmender and their uses are seemingly endless. Snack on the fruit of a Rainbloom Cactus for some much-needed hydration or harvest your Thorntail to make a healing poultice. In Wildmender, your survival depends on the garden you grow and the fruits of your labour.
