Feature Focus: Ghosts!

[p]Hello Hoteliers! [/p][p]Today we're taking a look at one of the spookier sides of Hotel Architect... Ghosts! [/p][p]If you were a playtester back in 2023, you might remember a time before ghosts ever visited our hotels... but they were so heavily requested by our community at the time, that we simply could not ignore the request! So, here they are! [/p]
What are Ghosts?
[p]In Hotel Architect, ghosts are transparent apparitions of what was once a Guest, Staff Member or contractor who attended your hotel and met a rather... unfortunate, demise. They tend to linger around as ghosts, causing mischief, and haunting your hotel, until they decide to check-out. [/p][p]Ghosts will maintain some of the clothing items from when they were human, hinting at their past life. For example, receptionists keep their hats, whilst backpackers keep their backpacks! [/p][p][/p]
Why Do Ghosts Appear?
[p]Ghosts will begin haunting a hotel if a character is exposed to a particularly terrible circumstance. There's a few ways this could occur such as: [/p]
 • [p]If a character is locked in a room for a long period of time, with no way to escape, they will eventually turn into a ghost. [/p]
 • [p]If a character is exposed to too much radioactive waste[/p]
 • [p]If a character gets too close to fireworks [/p]
 • [p]Or... if you sacrifice a staff member using the new 'Age manipulator' machine. [/p]
[p][/p][p]Any of these could leave you with a haunted hotel, but don't worry - almost all of these situations are very much avoidable if you do not want ghosts to arrive in your hotel. [/p]
How Can I Get Rid Of Ghosts?
[p]Ghosts will leave the hotel of their own accord, usually after a few days. However, if you want to get rid of ghosts almost instantly... who you gonna call? Maintenance! [/p][p]As part of our latest skill training update, Maintenance workers can now learn the 'Ghostbuster' skill, which grants them the ability to capture and eliminate ghosts. [/p][p][/p][p]So, are you the kind of player who lets ghosts roam freely throughout their hotel, or the type to get rid of them instantly? Let us know in the comments below! [/p][p][/p]

Feature Focus: Staff Training!

[p]Hello Hoteliers! [/p][p]We hope that you've been enjoying the latest "Management Update"! This introduced a whole host of new features which allow a deeper level of management within your hotel, one of those features is the skill training mechanic. Today, we're going to take a deep dive into the skill training, how to use it, when to use it, and anything else you might need to know! [/p]
How do I access Skill Training?
[p]First things first, you're going to need to build a staff room with adequate space to place a 'skill training desk'. The skill training desk costs $1,500 and is not a required item to complete the staff room zone, but is highly recommended! [/p][p]You can place multiple skill training desks, or just one. It entirely depends on how many staff members you have within your hotel, and how many employees you want to train at the same time! [/p][p]When you have purchased, placed and built your skill training desk, simply click on the 'skill training' icon, select the employee you'd like to train, then choose one of the available skills for them. [/p]

About Available Skills
[p]For all staff members, the following skills are available: [/p]
[p]Skill Name[/p]
[p]Skill Description[/p]
[p]Skill Cost[/p]
[p]Uplifting Aura[/p]
[p]Increases satisfaction among nearby guests and mood for nearby staff (+15%)[/p]
[p]$200[/p]
[p]Endurance Degree[/p]
[p]Increases energy by 30%[/p]
[p]$400[/p]
[p]Burnout Prevention[/p]
[p]Increases energy by 50%, but reduces movement speed by 20%[/p]
[p]$400[/p]
[p]Rapid Breaks[/p]
[p]Allows the character to skip the staffroom, taking quick breaks at nearby water dispensers or coffee machines instead. [/p]
[p]$325[/p]
[p]Leadership[/p]
[p]Boosts the energy of nearby staff by 15%[/p]
[p]$350[/p]
[p]Rule by Fear[/p]
[p]Enforces discipline, pushing nearby staff to move faster (+15% for 15 seconds) while lowering their mood (-7.5%)[/p]
[p]$300[/p]
[p]Speedwalking[/p]
[p]Increases movement speed by 30%[/p]
[p]$400[/p]
[p]Sprinting Pro[/p]
[p]Increases movement speed by 50%, but movement consumes 20% more energy. [/p]
[p]$400[/p]
[p]Longevity Protocols[/p]
[p]Freezes the "Days Until retirement" timer, allowing this staff member to work for you indefinitely.[/p]
[p]$350[/p]
[p]In addition to this, each staff type also has their own set of role specific skills that can be learnt. Chefs can learn skills that improve certain dishes, whereas Receptionists skills improve the check-in / check-out experience for you or your guests! [/p]
Staff Levels, Skills and Salary
[p]Every staff member can learn up to 5 skills, and each of these skills can be applied at staff level 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. Once skills have been applied, they cannot be unlearnt... so be careful when choosing! [/p][p]When applying skills, staff salary expectations will increase to meet this. For example, if you teach a Receptionist the 'Digital ID Handler' skill, their Salary expectation will increase by +$125. [/p][p]Staff will become unhappy over time, and will possibly quit if you do not meet their salary expectations. But, if you do not wish to manually meet these increased expectations, you can apply the 'salary manager' upgrade from the Upgrade tree. [/p][p][/p]
When to implement Staff Training
[p]Staff training plays a much larger role in the late stages of Hotel Architect, aka when you're trying to achieve that all-important 5-star rating with critics. This is where the specialised skills for certain staff types will truley come into play. For example, the Mixologist, Grape Expert, and Foam Control skills will all affect the quality of drinks served in the bar, therefore improving the overall rating of your hotel! [/p]
I have trained all of my staff, but now they're getting old and will retire soon! 😱
[p]Fear not hotelier! You have two options when it comes to staff aging, retirement and maintaining staff levels. [/p]
Option 1: Acquire the 'Age manipulator' upgrade from the Upgrade tree.
[p]The age manipulator is another new addition from our latest Management update. This upgrade allows you to interject or extract youth from your staff, directly adjusting how close they are to retirement. It can be placed in the Staffroom Zone. [/p][p]However, extracting youth transfers a character's remaining days until retirement and turns them into a ghost in the process. So, choose your sacrifices wisely! [/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Option 2: Teach your staff members the 'Longevity Protocols' skill
[p]✨Thanks to player feedback, this was a skill that we added post-Management update! ✨[/p][p]The longevity protocols skill freezes the retirement age, so if retirement and staff aging is not something you're interested in... then this is the skill for you![/p][p]That just about covers everything you might need to know about skill training in Hotel Architect! We hope that you've enjoyed this new feature, and we'd love to hear your thoughts below! [/p][p]Thank you as well for all the feedback so far (positive or constructive!) it helps us to continually improve your experience throughout this early access journey. [/p][p]- The Hotel Architect team [/p]
