Hotfix: Patch 0.5.41237

A small patch is going live today to fix some issues we've been able to work with since launch day has gone live. Most of our focus has been on optimizations to servers to make sure they run smoothly with the tremendous load they've been receiving, but we also managed to slip in a couple of important bug fixes with this one. There could be up to 30 minutes of downtime on official servers and on player-run servers that are set to auto-update.
Patch Notes 0.5.41237
• General server optimizations to improve server stability and performance.

 • Fixed an issue where the day-night cycle could be de-synced if the server settings were altered.

 • Fixed an issue where explosives could be used to blow up palisades on PvE servers as well as on PvP servers outside of the time-restricted window.

 • Fixed an issue where interacting with haystacks in the world caused players to be pushed out of it instead of hiding within it.

 • Updated tooltips for tainted, unsullied, and exquisite hearts to better communicate the purpose of these items.

 • Castle Status now displays a warning when having less than 24 hours of blood essence upkeep in your castle.

 • Some minor drop table adjustments. Unsullied hearts should now be a bit easier to obtain as drops from standard units.

 • Changed the colors in the server list for different game modes to more clearly communicate the main types when browsing the server list.

 • Added a text for the journal when a V Blood unit is not tracked to better communicate the importance of tracking and obtaining new technology and recipes. This text is only displayed until a few V Blood units have been defeated.

V Rising developers will make offline mode available 'as soon as possible'

V Rising is a new survival game from Swedish developers Stunlock Studios, and it's doing rather well for itself. Since launching in Early Access, as is traditional for survival games, the game about Dracula becoming a lumberjack to get enough wood to rebuild a castle shot up the Steam charts. It's number seven at time of writing, and has earned a user review rating of Very Positive...

V Rising offline play is coming this week, devs say

Vampire survival game V Rising has been a smash hit on Steam since entering Early Access this week. However, the need for a persistent internet connection has proven as troublesome for some players as a garlic necklace. Fortunately, developer Stunlock Studios has said it'll be adding the ability to play offline promptly - possibly before the end of the week.

"Many players have been asking about the status of offline play, and the ability to play on a private server with absolutely no connection to the internet," the developers say in a message to the official V Rising Discord server. "Right now, the game doesn't allow for this, but it's fully our intention that it does."

Stunlock says offline play is currently prioritised, and that the studio estimates that it will be available "some time in the next couple of days, but may be earlier." The studio also apologised to players who have had difficulties due to unstable internet connections or other obstacles to jumping into V Rising and testing out their new fangs.

How to get leather in V Rising

Want to know how to make leather in V Rising? This new open-world vampire survival game is already off to an impressive start on Steam, and plenty of newcomers want to know the all important questions - such as how to make fancy leather pants.

In all seriousness, like most crafting games of this nature, your progression through the various tiers of item quality are gated behind quests or other obstacles, and V Rising leather is no different. Remember Valheim? While you don't have to go off and find a hulking frost giant to get your leather, you do sadly have to kill someone. Apparently only one person in this gothic fantasy land knows the secrets of suede...

As long as you follow the tutorial and complete all of the starting quests, you won't have much else to do to make leather in V Rising. The key thing is to make sure to construct the Blood Altar. This device lets you hunt down specific boss enemies that possess 'V blood', and it's something the tutorial naturally steers you towards. Once built, you're looking for one specific enemy to unlock the leather-clad utopia you so desire.

Vampire survival game V Rising is out now

Swedish developer Stunlock Studios was the team behind arena brawler Battlerite, and has brought some of that style of action to V Rising, making for a rare combination—a survival game with combat that doesn't suck. You know what does suck? Vampires, with the blood-drinking and that. V Rising is a multiplayer survival game where you're a wannabe Count Dracula, chopping down trees and building a castle when you're not dodging daylight and hunting peasants...
