Update 1.1 Servers and Saves

Greetings Vampires!

In the midst of all this exciting news, we thought it would be nice to take a moment to slow down and make sure everyone is fully informed on the upcoming patch requirements, and everything you need to know to explore all the new content in our next patch, Update 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil, coming April 28.
1.0 Saves and Invaders of Oakveil Content
With every update to V Rising, we’ve brought major changes to systems, features, units, and the map that make the game fundamentally incompatible with saves on earlier versions. So with this next patch, just like the others that have come before it, you will be required to play on a new save to experience the new content.

With every update, we also recognize that you don’t want to lose your progress, and if you’re anything like us, you become very attached to the castles you’ve built and the adventures you’ve taken, and perhaps most importantly, the hats you’ve collected. For this reason, we provide a backlog of older versions so that you can play an older branch of V Rising and load up your previous saves. In this way, as long as you have the save, you can always finish your journey on that version, or just visit to marvel at all of your accomplishments. Sit on your throne, say hello to your servants, and make sure they didn’t stumble into any stakes.

In case you were wondering where to find it.

In Update 1.1, this is going to work a little differently. For your convenience, we’re essentially going to have the ability to play both 1.0 and 1.1 saves on the same client. So you won’t have to change your version to switch freely between a 1.0 and 1.1 game. However, please know that this does not mean you can play a 1.0 save with the new content from 1.1. You will still need a new save to do that.

Please also be aware that if you are running a 1.0 dedicated server, it will not show in the server list after April 28. To connect to a server running the 1.0 version, you will need to connect directly to the IP, P2P code, or join through a friend’s list.

You might also notice that the file size of V Rising is a bit bigger than it used to be. That’s because it contains two versions now! Our game doesn’t take up too much space, but even still, we apologize for the inconvenience.
Official Server Resets and New Settings
At their normal reset cadence, the official servers would usually reset very soon, about two weeks before release. It would be unfair for players to start a new run just to have it reset in two weeks, so instead of following the usual pattern, we will extend those servers until we take them down for pre-patch maintenance on April 26. So enjoy the extended adventure until then!

Additionally, servers with more than 11 days remaining on their reset timer will be allowed to stay open as 1.0 servers until their originally scheduled end date. These servers will not update to 1.1 on April 28. Because it would be too much to list here, this list of 109 servers can be found in this article if you're curious if this applies to you. The server itself should also tell you how many days it has until reset.

When we bring the Official Servers back up, fresh and ready for Update 1.1, we’re going to do it with some adjusted settings that we feel will enhance the overall experience based on the behavior we’ve observed since the 1.0 launch.

The available variety of server types is going to be simplified and focused. Official Servers are intended to be an introductory, stable option for players to enjoy V Rising, so we’re going to dedicate our resources to providing that. It’s proven that more niche desires are better fulfilled by private servers with more adaptability with their settings and their unique communities. If you’re looking for great community servers, feel free to stop by the V Rising Discord!
Server Varieties for 1.1
• PvE Cooperative | 3 Month Reset, Squads
 • PvE Cooperative | 3 Month Reset | Brutal, Squads
 • PvP Weekend Raid | 3 Month Reset, Squads
 • PvP Weekend Raid | 3 Month Reset | Brutal, Squads
 • PvP Weekend Raid | 3 Month Reset, Duos
 • PvP Merciless | Daily Raid | 1 Month Reset, Squads
 • PvP Merciless | Daily Raid | 1 Month Reset, Duos

Additionally, we’ll be making some changes to the standard Official Server settings that players should be aware of!
Castle Hearts Per Clan
A pattern we’ve recognized on Official Servers, especially early on in a fresh restart, clans snatch up plots four at a time, which fills up all the early territories in Farbane very quickly, leaving no room for other players to settle. This likely has a negative impact on the long-term health of the server.

A new setting is being introduced to V Rising, allowing you to restrict the number of owned castle territories on a per-clan basis instead of a per-vampire basis. On Official PvP Servers, we’re going to be trying this with one castle per clan, and on Official PvE servers, we’ll be doing two castles per clan.

EDIT: After reviewing some of the initial feedback, we've decided that Official PvP Servers will have one castle per clan on DUO PvP servers, and two castles per clan on SQUAD PvP Servers. We'll observe and see how it feels and adjust accordingly in the future.

This is a setting that has been high in demand for some time, so we’re happy to give it to you! For now, these settings on Officials are very much still experimental and may change based on our experience in the beta between now and release. We can also always edit them from server reset to server reset, and adapt them to make the best possible experience.

It's extremely important to note that on your private saves, this is still completely within your control, and you can choose to limit or unlimit hearts-per-vampire or hearts-per-clan in whatever manner you like.
Changes to Old Settings
There are also going to be some changes to settings that have been around for some time, adjusting due to player feedback and in anticipation of some of the effects of the changes coming with Invaders of Oakveil.

Mortium Rift Events will be made more frequent. The setting that adjusts the interval between them on all servers will shift from 1 hour to 30 minutes, halving the time between them. Especially during the most active part of a server’s life cycle, this should make events more plentiful for everyone.

Golem health will be increased from 1750 to 2500 on Squad PvP servers. We understand they’ve felt a little lightweight, and this should help them survive a bit more in environments with larger teams. With some of the additions coming with Invaders of Oakveil, it’s likely that Vampires will be a bit more lethal than before. So this may prove very necessary. On Duo servers, Golem health will remain the same.

These settings are also subject to change during resets! We intend to keep adjusting them based on your feedback.

V Rising teases big update, with multiple weapons and a new combat mechanic

Last year saw V Rising, the vampire survival game, finally hit 1.0. Since then, it's established itself as a cornerstone of its genre, inflecting the style of design featured in popular games like Valheim, Palworld, or Don't Starve with vampiric flair. Its creator, Stunlock Studios, hasn't been resting on its laurels, though. The studio has been hard at work on V Rising's 1.1 version, which is set to roll out new features over the course of 2025. Now, we've been given a glimpse of exactly what's on the horizon thanks to a dev update post on Steam.
