Bestiary #1 - Fume Toad

The first time I’ve heard that distinct croak, I was walking through the wetlands searching for some mechanical parts. I didn’t expect anything unusual, but I could smell something disturbing in the air.

And then I saw it. Right away, I could tell that it wasn’t a regular frog. It was the size of a dog, with crazy eyes, sharp-looking teeth, and strange mushrooms covering its skin. The mushrooms were fuming with green vapor that seemed to be the source of that horrible, toxic smell.

Then I heard another croak. And another right behind me. I dropped everything I’ve gathered and started running. That sound has been haunting me almost every night since...
