And the Winner of the Card Contest is…

Ahoy Blitzers!🦜

We hope you had a great time during the holiday season, and we wish you a very happy new year! We can’t wait to spend this upcoming year by your side! 💖🎉
Card Contest Results
First and foremost, we would like to thank each and every one of you for taking part in this Community Contest! 🎨✨
It was truly such a blast to see you unleash your creativity to create brilliant designs – and to receive as many submissions (even if it made picking a winner so terribly complicated…)!!

We also wanted to apologize for the time it took us to announce the Contest Winners. It has been a busy start of the year, but we have not forgotten about you!
Time has finally come to reveal our talented winners, so, drum roll, please!
Runner-ups
Let’s give a round of applause for the two runners-up of the contest! Congratulations to Cheschire for their Soul Spore card, and -]Holy Platinum[- for their Sealed Souling & Unleashed Dragonsoul cards!

Soul Spore by Cheschire

Devs Comment: A lot of thought was put into the lore of this card, which we greatly appreciated. This card presents a unique bridge between Evolve decks and Death-focused strategies, unlocking new synergies that weren’t possible before. By ensuring Death effects trigger before evolution, it allows Death-heavy decks to fully capitalize on their minions' abilities, preventing them from being lost in the transformation process. At the same time, it enhances Evolve-style decks by guaranteeing that any Played effect minion they evolve into will now activate its effect, adding another layer of value. Since most Played effects are inherently beneficial to the controller, this makes for an undeniably powerful interaction.

However, this global effect comes with significant trade-offs. It applies to both players, meaning your opponent gains just as much value. If they’re running Death effects, you’re essentially handing them free triggers before they evolve, which has historically been a strong counter to Death-focused decks. This could disrupt balance, making some matchups harder to navigate.
Overall, this is a bold, game-altering design that reshapes how Evolve functions. It introduces exciting new dynamics while also carrying risks and unpredictability, leading to chaotic and unexpected board states—for better or worse.

Sealed Souling & Unleashed Dragonsoul by -]Holy Platinum[-

Devs Comment: A very close runner-up—and personally, my favorite entry! One of the challenges in Cross Blitz is that many sub-archetypes have to be built with only a handful of cards, given the amount of work required to implement each one with our limited dev team. This submission, however, manages to create its own self-contained engine with just two cards, and it looks like an absolute blast to play.

The potential of this package is undeniably exciting, offering a huge payoff that makes every step toward summoning Unleashed Dragonsoul feel rewarding. However, we had concerns with the amount of ways to "trigger" a Death effect in the game currently, it might be too easy to cheat out the effect using tools like the Pantaloons Relic or Beach Bones. If summoning Dragonsoul is too easy, it could feel unearned, taking away the satisfaction of pulling it off.

That said, the thematic flavor, mechanical depth, and sheer fun factor of this package make it one of the most exciting submissions we’ve seen. It’s a design that feels epic to pull off, dynamic to play around, and memorable in execution. An amazing entry, and one we’d love to see refined even further!
The Winner is…
Congratulations to Alverja_Folder for their Lowlife Fisher card!

Lowlife Fisher by Alverja_Folder

Devs Comment: We loved the simplicity of this card’s effect. Many designs come with trade-offs—ways they might be abused or reasons they could struggle to see play—but this one stood out as both fair and versatile. It fits naturally into pirate decks, plunder decks, and any strategy that seeks out resource generation or removal.

Its Played effect gives it immediate board impact, creating meaningful decisions—whether it’s used to clear small threats or set up powerful combos. Trinkets added to this card can apply many satisfying buffs that feel powerful but stay fair—from increasing the damage of the Played effect to make it more consistent at its roles, to applying Lifesteal for an additional instant heal on play. It strikes the perfect balance between utility and synergy, all while remaining a well-balanced and rewarding card to play.

We’re looking forward to refining this card’s design and lore with the winner!

Their design will be implemented in-game for all players to enjoy, and their name will be added to the game’s credits! Additionally, as part of the grand prize, the winner also had the opportunity to select a charity for a 500$ donation, and chose… The AbleGamers Charity!

This charity mainly aims at giving individuals with disabilities the opportunity to experience and enjoy video games with ease while also empowering game developers and creators to design video games with as much accessibility as possible!
If you want to support them in making gaming accessible for everyone, you can donate on their official website: https://ablegamers.org/ !

Once again, thanks to everyone who submitted a creation to the contest on our Discord. We will be sharing some of our favorites on our social media channels!

See you soon for more updates, Blitzers!
