Major Update: New HUD, Car Handling, and many new features, ...

To start off this new update post, first, we would like to thank you all for your patience in waiting on this major update. It took us some time, but we wanted to make it right. It was a lot of testing, tweaking, and many small changes. We hope it was worth it.

The first major change we want to mention is the new HUD. Our goal with HUD was to be more intuitive, for players to easily recognize each part of the HUD, and to bring a new refreshment with a new design. Simplistic, but with key details to make it more elegant. The new part of the HUD is a speedometer, gear indicator, and a few additional small details about the car.

The second major change is car driving. Each car has been revamped, a new gear setup, new engine sound properties, and a new acceleration. In general, all cars are at least a bit faster, and some are significantly faster. But, don't forget, weight has its part, the heavier the car, the slower it goes. We did a little drag race, just for fun, because why not?

Tire reinforcement is our latest car equipment added. It's simple equipment for wheels that prevents the car from falling into the mud. No more annoying mud, huh? ;) It is also and a nice touch for those who like a more "spike-ish" look for their ride.

Some folks prefer low, others prefer high cars, so we added a Wheel Spring option to our car customization. With wheel springs you can adjust car height, but also spring stiffness. From Soft to Hard.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

We also made significant changes to car health and armor. We noticed that all cars have low health without armor, so we rebalanced the whole system. It should feel much better now.
Alongside our regular balancing, bugfixing, and optimization, we added many smaller features to make the gameplay feel better and the visuals nicer.

We hope you'll enjoy in this update, and until the next one, happy chaos making! 🔥

Regular update: January 2024

Minor update for Chaos on Wheels
Health Scanner (Health bars)
Honestly, we haven’t had in plan adding healthbars in Chaos on Wheels, but as many of you requested and suggested it, we decided to implement it. To make it more interesting, we added it as a equipment. Similar to the radar, Health Scanner is available to purchase in Market and Black Market as a “monthly” subscription. There are 4 main types of Health Scanners, each with two subcategories (Basic, Premium). Each type is defined by scanning radius, so we have Local, 4G, MASA, and StarX. Basic Health Scanner is showing health of only basic enemies, depending on the Game Mode, but Premium Health Scanner shows it all.
Car Damage Effects
Something we had in the previous version but it lacked some polish, so we decided to make it in this one. Car damage effects work simply, when the car gets damaged it gets scratched, and when it gets damaged enough, it starts to smoke from under the hood. And when a car gets really damaged, fire on the hood catches on. So watch out for the smoke, on you and on the others 😉
Custom Car Name in Career
We know we like to name our cars with our custom names, and we would like to give that option to you too. Head out to Chaos Career and name your car anyway you want.
Fixed AI Spamming Homing Missiles
One of the issues with the AI was that they sometimes spam those damn Homing Missiles, but luckily that has come to an end. We rebalanced the usage of Homing Missiles and now bots won’t spam them.
Balancing & small fixes
As we mentioned some of the significant features above, don’t worry we have dome many minors, and of course some game balancing.

We’re currently working on the next big milestone, the “Immersion update”, so stay tuned and happy destroying! 🔥

Roadmap & Future of Chaos

Since the release of Chaos on Wheels in Early Access, we have been listening to players’ feedback, and trying to align feedback with our vision for Chaos on Wheels. We finally came up with a plan for the future of Chaos on Wheels. Our goal is to bring the enjoyment of car combat games to as many players as possible, to help them feel what we felt when we played iconic titles in the early ’00.
The illustration below is simple and with not many details, but with all the keywords that should simply illustrate our desired path. We will explain in more detail each milestone below the illustration.
New content, seasonal events, continuous support
While we have our milestones set, we’ll provide continual support with regular updates. New content, bugfixing, optimization, and seasonal events will be provided during the whole development.
Shift Update
Shift is our first milestone and it’s one that we accomplished even before releasing the roadmap. In Shift update, as we call it, we make a quite shift in overall gameplay. We went from “old school hardcore difficulty car combat game” to “casual destruction car combat game”. We made Chaos on Wheels significantly easier and less grindy. Read more about the Shift update also known as the Christmas update here 👈
Immersion Update
In the immersion update, our main goal will be to make Chaos on Wheels more appealing and for players to better feel car movement and combat around them. Our focus will be on creating new HUD, and improving Visual Effects, such as car damage, combat effects, and on-screen effects. The other part is improving Sound Effects, mostly car sounds, weapon and impact sounds, and ambient sounds. We plan to implement water interaction, and add tutorial part explaining different pickups and rocket types. Also, we plan to add smaller things such as custom car naming.
Combat update
In the Combat milestone, we will focus on enriching gameplay and adding new gameplay features and game modes. Game mode Team Deathmatch and features like Melee Attack and Critical Shot Chance will be must have for Chaos on Wheels. A big part of getting your dream ride ready for the mayhem is customization, so Advanced performance car customization will be high on a ToDo list in the Combat milestone. Adding new special rockets with their unique effects and aim assist will be included in the Combat milestone as well.
Gold Release
While we prepare for Gold Release we will work on further improving AI, adding new map, adding more pickup types, and generally polishing and optimizing every and each part of Chaos on Wheels making it worthy of becoming v1.0.
Future Expansion
After releasing in Gold, we don’t plan to put our leg off the gas but rather continue to add more content and continue support with new smaller features, events, and bugfixing. Adding new cars, drivers, and equipment will be our way of keeping Chaos on Wheels interesting long after the release. DLC with special cars; iconic and crossouts from other games is what we plan to do too. Porting to consoles and translating to new languages.
Other features & changes
There is a whole list of features we have brainstorm for Chaos on Wheels, but not everything can be add, so if you want to see something in Chaos on Wheels hop to our Discord Server and voter for that feature in #vote-for-feature channel. If you don’t find it on the list, feel free to add it to #ideas-suggestions channel.

Among the 100+ features and changes available to vote for, here is just a quick peek of some interesting ones:
 • Combo attack
 • Zombies
 • Decal visual car customization
 • Car radio: Custom music
 • Cheats
 • Skill tree
 • Crafting
 • Racing game mode
 • Remove timer on Chaos Game Mode
Online Multiplayer
We’re happy to announce that we’re actively working on Online Multiplayer, just not as a standard part of the current Chaos on Wheels.

Since we started developing Chaos on Wheels, new technologies have developed and a new next-gen engine has come out, and we decided to take advantage of those opportunities and make Online Multiplayer part with new and powerful Unreal Engine 5.

Chaos on Wheels: Online as we’re currently calling it will be an extension of Chaos on Wheels, but fully based on online multiplayer and with all the changes we learned and gathered through feedback.

Development of Chaos on Wheels: Online will not affect on the current development of Chaos on Wheels, as Chaos on Wheels: Online is just an extension of Chaos on Wheels but built with more powerful technology.

Accessing to Chaos on Wheels: Online will be exclusive to Chaos on Wheels players, and playing will be through organized playtesting during the development time. The first planned playtesting is in March of 2024. To apply for playtest you need to sign up via a form that can be found on our Chaos on Wheels Discord in #appy-for-playtest channel. For more info and to be in the loop of development check out Chaos on Wheels Discord server.

Christmas Update: Major rebalancing

Overall Game Difficulty

As we more and more talked with you; our players, we come to realization that Chaos on Wheels is a bit too difficult for modern gaming standards. Although we did base difficulty on older games such as Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8, and I’m sure we get it pretty much close, that difficulty is no longer welcome to standard modern player. In the light of that, we’re happy to say we reworked our entire system, tweaked every difficulty variable and make it much easier for new players to get up the speed.

Since sometimes cars felt like “bullet sponges”, we added new option in the settings menu for players that can adjust to get better overall game TTK (time to kill). Option Global Damage Factor, under gameplay settings can be adjusted for all of damages in the game. For those of you who like faster TTK, just set it to HIGH or HIGHEST, for those who like to play on safe and have larger TTK, set it to LOW or LOWEST, and for those who like it as it was, just leave it to NORMAL.

New Camera

With new camera mechanics, we aimed to give players better immersion, a feeling that you’re behind the wheel of the destroying machine you drive. The feel of every acceleration and deceleration, feeling of the drift, and for players to feel the power of the car.
Position of the camera
Old Camera View

New Camera View

New dynamic behavior of the camera, you’ll need to try it yourself in the game.

HUD adjustments

With the HUD we added some light touches to be more understandable and easier to read. Added some colors, borders and background filling. We changed few icons and added car speed.
We also need to announce that we’ll do whole HUD overhaul in the next update. Stay tuned!
